Update on decarbed flower infused with MTC-oil

I gave out bottles to three different people

All have said it’s
“strong as fuck”
With feedback back similar to :
“gave a friend a drop and they barely made it home”
“best sleep they ever had” and
“best my back has felt in 2 months” from the non-decarbed oil.

LOL

Well now! A success ! I need to order more dropper bottles.

Got a good understanding That the non decarbed can be a wonderfull anti-inflammatory.

I still received a mild buzz from the non decarb. The activated thc would be a bit too psychoactive for Me. When I do try it , it will Be in very small doses and hopefully I can get some medical benefit from It without being too bombed.

I am considering diluting the decarbed with non decarbed. 1 to stretch it out and 2 to not have too strong and debilitating effect 3 to get the non decarbed benefits a start well

Thanks for the thread @ReikoX + introduction to tinctures and instructions along the way!

Hello to all my GD senseis, I recently started making some tincure with around 30g of low grade herb, decarbed in a pressure cooker for 40mins and into around 300ml of 95% ethanol. Didn’t use the freezer for extraction.

It has been steeping for 4-5 days and the colour is an incredibly dark… amber/brown? I was wondering if it was normal or did I screw up somewhere?

Hi Micheala and welcome to OG.

It’s normal for mine to look like that as well. If you leave your weed in the alcohol for a while it will go that colour.

I’ve done some yield comparisons and did not find much difference between a 15 minute soak time and a 30 minute soak time except that the results are darker. I’d be interested in other opinions, but I don’t think there is much point in a multi-day soak.

If you winterize your end product in the freezer, you can get out some of the waxes and make it a little bit lighter. That said, there is nothing wrong with what you made other than it will not taste the best or win any beauty contests. Also, that is a lot of alcohol for 30g of low grade herb. You’re probably going to want to evaporate some off.

When I do it, I only give the buds 3min mixing in the bowl with a whisk and the alcohol in there.

Hey Bare, I was thinking about your post. I tried decarbing a full jar in the instant pot and it worked pretty well.

  • 1L wide mouth jar with 115g of mixed varieties- bad phenos and cbd buds, blended in a blender
  • Pressure cook the jar on high for 20 mins, let the pressure release naturally dont vent it or use the keep warm function

I used half to infuse some coconut oil. The leftovers will go to tincture.

Fresh jar - Decarb jar - Infused coconut oil

Mood and motivation have been low lately. C99 tincture is helping a lot, in a low dose to stay functional.

That’s interesting never thought of using a pressure cooker for decarbing :+1:

So if this works why doesn’t it work to use un-decarbed bud butter in baking. The butter machine that uses 190 for 4 hours says to decarde first too.

Really to learn easier ways.

It works in the pressure cooker because the pressure is directly related to how hot it can get over 212:

@Shadey it’s been working well. Stinks less than the oven, plus my oven sucks the temps are all over the place. I’d like to try one of those Ardent decarb machines to make it foolproof. A bit pricey though.

@G-paS Some info here. Un-decarbed bud in butter will probably work but it might be less potent than it could be.

I did a few test batches of oil for capsules by skipping the decarb step and putting freshly ground bud straight into the oil for infusion. It works, but the batches that were decarbed first feel stronger. Would like to try doing this in a tincture too, just to see what happens.

The oil above was made with 2oz decarbed bud in 2 cups melted coconut oil in a 1L jar. Pressure cooked for 1 hour on low, then left on keep warm for about 2 more hours before straining.

1/4 tsp helped me forget about some back pain. 1/2tsp made me very high, though I haven’t been smoking much lately so tolerance is low.

It’s also nice to melt a few tablespoons and mix thoroughly into some Dr Teals Foaming Bath. Needs to be mixed very well before going in the bath, or there will be oil slicks. Really helps with the aches and pains and dry skin.

I just picked one of these up, how do you like yours? Any tips before I jump in?

The “household” was gifted an Botanical Infusion  machine this past Christmas! :+1:t2:

So far we’ve only made infused butter, with 42gr of some primo decarbed flower and kief.
It turned out A-m-a-z-i-n-g! :star::star::star::star::star:

Once frozen thoroughly, the canna butter did come out of the mould pretty easy, and the machine…it even has a self cleaning function!

I can’t wait to try tincture. I’ll keep y’all posted.

Many blessings. :v:t2:

Have fun you will love it! I still use it to keep the tincture stock. I finally tried gummies and they were simple to make too. Edibles don’t do much for me so once i discovered the tincture i was happy! The recipes in their Cookbook have been spot on though. I like to make my tincture 1:1 so 1oz to every cup of Everclear is really strong and nice.
If you have any specific questions shoot me a message anytime. I use their decarber machine too instead of stinking up the house decarbing in the oven and it works great too.

Did I screw up?

I use decarbed trim for tincs. I wanted to see if there’d be any remarkable differences in using kief tumbled from the 2 zips of trim I normally use.

Well, I forgot to decarb the trim before I tumbled, d’oh :frowning:

I was thinking I could put the kief on a bit of parchment paper, and stick it in the oven at 240°F for an hour, or I could do the usual freezer soak in grain alcohol, then put that in the oven .

Either of those ways could end up a mess, and I’d rather end up with tinc!

Figurred I’d better ask the OG brain trust what y’all think?

Thanks for any ideas, even silly ones

De carb it in the oven and you will be fine.

So it won’t get all goopy?

Might get a little gooey, but that should come off the parchment paper with no problem. Then just add the goo to the alcohol with the kief.

Into the fiery furnace it goes!

I had a jar sitting in the freezer for 78 days, gonna call that aged in the bottle, lol!

2 zips in 500ml of alcohol. Got about 375ml return. I’ve got a potato ricer that I used to use to squeeze the leavings and filter, but it was a pain, didn’t squeeze much out, and then I had to clean it! I’ve quit using it. I asked about some contraption that was posted earlier in this thread, but never got an answer… danged stoners!

I LOVE that giant syringe :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

So, on the consensus of two, I decarbed the kief. 240°F for 44 minutes. I had the timer set for 45 mins, but chickened out at the last minute

It didn’t get gooey, but did sort of clump. It came off the parchment with a little gentle persuasion.

We’re not allowed to have high strength grain alcohol here. This is a Baptist state, so the only liquor we can get is from a state ABC store, and we should feel lucky to get that. This is also college town, and apparently, some of the students would drink that shit? No kidding, made a tub of stuff called Purple Jesus out of it… the sacrilege! Well, they nipped that in the bud .

151 is fine, can’t get fucked up on that! And to top that off, I can get 190… if I order a case!!! I hope no fraternities find that out.

I’ve got some Wolfpack in the bong, so bear with me… oh, and you’ve probably figured that pot is verboten here, too.

In the state below us, you can buy liquor while you’re getting gas, and 190 all day long. One our kids goes there occasionally, and brings some back. But!!! due to COVID, grain alcohol is in short supply… even there! So, all that just to explain the 2x bottles in the next pic. I’m old, give me a break.
And, if you haven’t figured it out, I mix them 50/50.

Oh yeah, you can only get the 190 in 1/5ths!

Since I’m trying to compare the kief effects to the same amount of trim, 2 oz’s, I put 500ml of alcohol in with the 8.5gs of kief that tumbled out of the trim. It was SSDD trim, and that seemed like a pretty good return. Let’s hope it has the same pain relieving properties of inhaled SSDD.

I’ll be shakin’ it, boss!
