Not Just Another Tincture Thread

Looks great !

I haven’t tried the 190 proof yet to make tincture. So do you just shake and let freezer * shake *shake *freeze repeat than strain ? And reduce ?

I’ve done the infused thc with MCT.

A QUESTION about kif. Do you freeze the flower or shake and grind it up really well and sift through a micron screen ?
Or is it the 2/3/4 wash from bubble hash?

ALSO ANOTHER QUESTIONS for some older heads -
And experienced (@ReikoX @JoeCrowe ****)

Where im from . Back in the day (15-20 years ago for me) but I’m guessing this was going on since the 70-80s out here on East coast Canada . The baymen (so I’m told is where it came from ) would always bring in tons of HASH OIL in those glass crack viles (lol) And you would take some out with a metal pin . And rub it on a rolling paper and either roll tobbaco with it or weed… we called them jelly rolls (maybe that was hash and weed)

HOW THE F*** IS HASH OIL MADE??? Also how is friggen black hash made ???

@Calix Have you heard of RSO or Phoenix Tears?

If you have and you’ve looked into the process of making that, then you know how to make “Hash Oil”.

I’m sure there are subtleties, so an in-depth understanding on the RSO subject may be required, but I hope that makes things easier to “search” for you.

Well, once you have your 190 proof alcohol extraction done… :arrow_heading_up:
You use a double-boiler and drive off the alcohol. When it gets thick… there’s your hash oil. :+1:

Cheers

It’s just the trichs stripped from the buds and shake either by vigorous string in ice water, or doing it dry through a sieve and then rolling up in a ball until it melds together.

Hay Calix!

Basically, except for the reducing part… too much faffing!

I am a lazy bones and use a tumbler. No freezing, shaking, or grinding, or bubbles… just rollin’ and tumblin’!

I’ve made RSO oil, but it’s too messy for me. Ours used to come in condoms, lol!

Check out Frency Canoli, RIP, on utoob. I’ve made kief into black hash, by using his method of rolling and pressing it with a wine bottle filled with really hot water.

Again, utoob is your friend, and I’m sure there’s some good tutorials on OG. Simply put, it’s trichs stripped by some solvent… and some are better than others.

That should keep you busy for a while :slightly_smiling_face:

@Calix if your looking for the best resource on making traditional pressed or “black” hash check out Frenchy Cannoli’s YouTube page, he goes through the process step by step in great detail, recently translated into a bunch of different languages after his passing as well. RIP Frenchy

I’m going to go check those videos out now!

On the “utoob”.

Thanks for that tip. :+1:t2:

We have a press we use to turn our overflow kief into, depending on how much kief we have; coin size “pucks” or “rolls”, about the diameter of a nickel, a couple of inches long.
I’ll get one and post a pic later today. :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s nice to break or slice off chunks and stuff them in the pipe, the taste is beyond measure IMO, so pure. :innocent:

Have a good day all! :v:t2:

We are going to make some more CBD tincture but I don’t want to shell out the cash for Everclear.
So we just ran this off. Do you think it will work? This is about as high alcohol content as we can get.

It should still work just fine. If you try reducing it too much the extra water may become an issue, but it should reduce with the normal recipe at 170 proof.

I mix 151 and 190 proof 1/2 and 1/2… close to 170. It works fine for us.

I’ve used 80 proof rum, and it did the job, just took longer.

Thanks guys. My friend is benefiting so much from what I gave her she’s asking me to continue. I’m using it every day too now, so I’m going to be making another batch.
I am also considering building a distiller just to reclaim my alcohol. That would also speed up the process. Last time I left it to evaporate.

A still is pretty useful. I’ve used my Source Turbo to reclaim alcohol not only from tincture, but also wet weed and filters. No more squeezing wet weed. I’ve also used mine to distill a higher proof alcohol from cheap lower proof grain alcohol.

My brother is the one who runs the still. I help but it’s his recipes…
I don’t have to pay for liquor though. I’d say it saves a lot of money but I don’t drink enough to brag about the savings. :slightly_smiling_face: That’s why I wanted a reclaimation still. So he doesn’t have to give me more for this over and over.

This is such an awesome thread to have at one’s fingertips. :nail_care:t3:

I can’t wait to make and try my first batch of Green Dragon! :slightly_smiling_face:

It’ll be fun to add my own recipes as well. Eventually. :relaxed:

Okay, so I don’t have a lot of experience with alcohol tinctures, but how much will any “flavors” in the alcohol come into it? Can I use my Heads and Tails for taking it all the way down to oil? How about just GD (which is 1/2 evaporation, right)? Usually I just throw them in the feints jug. but the heads are usually at least 90%.
