Thanks for describing your grafting tech in detail Paps. I have grafted apple trees before using roughly the same technique so you are on the right track.

I love that grafting tape for general repairs when I break a branch in overzealous LST!

The mini octo pups base is actually sold on Amazon

And I bought a 3 gallon fabric bag to attach to it

The wicking base is 2 for 20 $ usd

You could make them out of buckets and a net pot and a fabric bag

Definitely interested to see how this goes!

Hey Paps,

Did you know that there is a grafting-cutter tool for making that tricky concave cut?

I’ve seen them in orchard catalogs but never tried one. If you’re going to do a bunch of it, might be worth a look.

Thank you Brother
Basically I Need a black box,cut the netpot size, place a pot/solo Cup with any medium on top of It and the roots Will grow down?
Do Hydro rules apply?Like temperature water and root rot issues?

Cool, Paps! I’ve only used clips, how is it keeping the stems together while you’re wrapping the tape?

It’s not easy iv tried 3 x’s so far it don’t look like they’re taking but I’ll keep trying

Have you tried applying a rooting hormone and keeping it moist with a spray bottle?

I’ve been spraying ,and plastic bag for a dome also
No luck so far . I feel I’m not making a good connection and not wet enough .
I recently she’s a video where one grower uses crazy glue two drops one on either side of the V cut to hold the cutting to the branch. And I seen one where they wrapped the cut with a rapid rooter to keep it wet like a layering technique.

I’ll give the rooting hormone a try ( Ty for the idea ) and the crazy glue method with a bit of grafting tape or even just thread . I’ll also try one where I add the rapid rooter for more moisture
I do soak the cutting in water and rhiztonic.
I guess I’ll try a few combinations of these techniques

Ok now I’m way too anxious about and needed to take my own advice

It’s been maybe 4 days and there’s signs of life the PP & The GG4 look like they are trying to stand straight.

Pic 1 and 2 are the same age
Pic 3 is only 36 hours old.

Also used ziplock bags and they.close tight

I’ll try a few more now that I see life
