So far, they are a great way to grow. @Syn and I started real close to the same time. I know I was just amazed at the speed and size…it became a whole new ballgame.
Yea I really wish the entire system wasn’t sitting on the wicking cup
Jacks and Octopots is a win win
Every time you fill the res you feed
The constant feed is what the plant loves
Steady feed at the right npk ratios is the key to monster buds
With the jacks fertilizer schedule that was worked on by @ifish jethro @cdnBuddy and then tweaked for my liking
You can hit the proper npk ratios
The jacks I use are 20/20/20 = 1/1/1 npk for moms and long veg times
Jacks 15.5/0/0 added to the 20/20/20 for 2/1/1 short veg and 2 weeks before flip and 2 weeks after fflip
Jacks 10/30/20 for 1/3/2 week 3 after flip
Jacks 5/12/26 for late bloom but in weeks 4 through 7 mix with equal parts 10/ 30/20 for a 1/3/3
Till week 8
Then use jacks 5/12/26 till finished for a 1/3/5 npk
Note lately I’ve added monster bloom to the schedule for a booster it’s 0/50/30
I find it lowers n when added ( replacing the 10/30/20 ) to weeks 4 through 7
Also adding Epson salts and calmag is needed to keep healthy and happy plants
It’s all about the ratios
Peace paps
Well color me sold. I’ll grab some and hit you up when I’m about to give it a go.
Once they are set in the right position i don’t find them floppy at all when you set them up use a 5 gallon bucket with the bottom cut out to keep them straight and tight
Paps
Even then, the main support for the 6 gal basin one has a nipple to hold it from falling over. The 3 gal doesn’t have anything.
Yes for sure the packing of the bags and leveling them for upright posture is important. The bottom cut out of a five is best advice but as a newb I let them veg too long…followed my normal schedule and the octos grew faster. Plants got a bit floppy. About double the stretch I was used too. Beautiful plant @Papalag and perfect size!!
Oh my stem is thick as hell 30 days in, floppy.plants I don’t think.will.be a issue.
They do get top heavy
I use yo-yos to keep them standing mostly
Def a good thing rofl
there is a feed regimen that several of the octopot guys had been using besides the jack in flower they were using this in veg. Urban Farm Fertilizers, Texas Tomato Food, 1 qt, Competitive Tomato Fertilizer | eBay
it does work great and it is cheap and cheaper on amazon when in stock
Thanks for that!
i have jetdros whole feed schedule somewhere ill look for it
MVP right here ^^^
Another Octo grower here who uses Jetdro/iFish 's feeding schedule with Jack’s nutes. I’ll update my grow thread soon with a series of pics of an Orange Goji plant as the roots finally reach the reservoir and growth explodes. The plants really love the Octopots!
I’ll also second the urban farms…its cheap and works great. Make sure to shake the living shot out of it😀.
I’ve been researching the OCTOs and considering a move to them.
last week, a new YT segment on using Jacks [w/ multiple formulas] on Greengenes Garden .
He throws up a XLS to compare the numbers - that’s why I like this channel - good info…
Day 44 Veg from seed scratch. (Watering Day)
This is ideally when I usually flip to 12/12. This is scaring me now.
The octopots grow so much faster than just reg soilless in a fabric pot. So while my fabric pots finish flowering, these babies are long overdue for a flip.
It looks tight in that 2 x 2.5 but they all fit in there snugly. Once they get put in the 6 gal rez they will have more space to fill out.
I used the tvf and the ttf for a long time as well. I find the jack hit the ratios for NPK Better then the tvf by urban farms did , it seemed something was not right when I used them
