Ok Ok, here's the deal with Rand

within 2-3 days you should see the tips of the pistils turn brown and shrivel up. That should tell you it took the pollen. will continue to shrivel as seed forms and the calyx swells
Looks like in the middle of the 3 pics that seeds are already forming in a flower. cant tell 100% but looks like a few seeds already swelling their calyxes. But I could be wrong.
I have a few seeds forming from my 7ft males I left out too long. Just a few… shit happens I guess.
Good Luck

most times calyxes will split in half as seed matures. if you dont see seeds splitting calyxes yet they likely still immature.
When they are mature seeded females you should see healthy black seed splitting out of the calyxes. They should fallout easily if plucked with a finger.
Ill just pop the seed out of the swollen calyx inside the flowers early on after pollinating, just to see how its going. If it took or not for sure etc.
seeds usually take 30-45+ days to develop.

Thanks! I appreciate all the information and different perspectives/experiences that I can get! I think for my area about the middle to end of October is typical, but Ill be scoping them every day till I think they’re done!

At end of harvest till your soil, mix in apple cores, mushy brown bananas, eggshells, potato peel, grass clippings and any other fruit discards, acquire 12dozen worms dump them in the mix, cover with soil and wet it down. Not only will you gain rich nutrient organic soil for your next grow season. The worms will break down the organic compounds and aerate the soil for you.I always did this when i had a house in my plot in the backyard for my plants. In the spring 2 weeks before planting i would till the soil over add in cow and sheep manure with some bone and blood meal, and add another 12 dozen worms. Each morning i would give the plot a good watering so the sun would bake it and help break down the new hot nutrients added in for 2weeks before planting.Always got beautiful big plants this way.

Thats awesome advice and THANK YOU VERY MUCH for sharing it! I will definitely keep this in mind after my harvest.

So, I got problems! New problems for me, cuz I’ve only really had to deal with fungus gnats as far as PESTS go, but with the outdoor plants come outdoor pests…that seems logical enough.

But Im finding these BASTARD caterpillars…

And there’s LOTS of them it seems like!

You can see they are also devouring my tomato and basil plants. But that made me think, maybe the OVERGROWN tomato is like a big nest of these things! Though, I only have the holes in the leaves as evidence, I havent actually found a caterpillar on anything BUT the Herijuana’s!

So my question is HOW DOES ONE GET RID OF CATERPILLARS AT THIS JUNCTURE WITHOUT DAMAGING THE DEVELOPING SEEDS, which is my ONLY concern with these plants? Is it even worth trying to go after them this close to harvest?

Any and all help is appreciated!

Hope everyone’s worlds are TOP NOTCH!

They are big enough, pick them off. If your not keeping the material for smoke or hash, then some chemicals may be ok, but extra moisture on the plant should prob be avoided at this point.

Best advice.Take the hour and pick them off.Caterpillars can devour plants fast…dig a hole in your plot, drop all the ones in you pick and fill in the hole.you will have more organics going in your soil.

I spray with BT up to harvest. It dries off pretty quick where I’m at.

Sorry for my ignorance but what’s BT? And thanks for the advice cuz its hard to pick them off and theres little black baby ones up to the juicy inch long green ones that feel like theyre trying to bite my fingers when I grab them!

I used the short hand so I didn’t have to mess up the spelling. Bacticilus thuricide. Look up thuricide and it will come up for you.

I’m picking off at least one grasshopper every day, but haven’t seen any caterpillars.

Cool, and this would be ok to use on flowering plants, with seeds and about a month or less till being done?

I use it on mine til harvest. My seeds from stray pollen have still germinated.

The catties shouldn’t eat your seeds I wouldn’t think.

You know, thats what Id think but I got countless sites that have GROUND UP SEEDS. Now, maybe something else is causing it but…you know what? I’ll tey and snap an image for ya…

Its hard to see but the seeds are GROUND UP with plant matter around it chewed up, too. Not many of the cannabis leaves have been eaten, like the basil and tomato leaves

Fudgcicles!! Its not easy to get the right shot of it…

Anyhoot, thanks for info…

I’m not sure what that is. Looks kinda like bud rot ish. Is it soft and mushy?

No, its literally like ground up material. I ordered the BT but it’s not coming for like 2 weeks, which will be close to these girls end. Im gonna check out a local shop or two, see if I can’t source that stuff here and now so it actually might have time to help.

It’s funny you mention bud rot cuz I JUST experienced that for the first time in my growing career, (side note:it hasn’t been but a couple years) and it REALLY caught me off guard. My daughter’s mom saw it as I was showing off this massive, (well, to me) cola to her and its DENSITY! Oops, shouldve known there with how dense these flowers were growing. It was some Purple Durban from a member here that I top bid on in a server fundraiser. Anyways the lady says, “Wow, is it supposed to be THAT white?” And in my arrogance I’m thinking, white with crystals, but the second I saw it, I knew it wasn’t right. Crystalline white is good, cotton-like white is NO BUENO! Had to cut out a large chunk of the cola but it was a lesson for me… I am not sure when the rot developed so I have to account for both pre-harvest and post-harvest occurring. I have the feeling it developed AFTER on the drying rack I use. I also waited to trim it which was a mistake. The excess moisture from the fan leaves and their blanketing of the buds I think played a role…

Get up at dawn when the crows are cawing and the birds singing.Could be birdies pecking and plucking seeds, just a thought.

Home Depot has it in stock.

It’s good you caught the rot. I also had that last year. Looking at big ole buds just to notice a little leaf twist and mold growing.

I’ve lost a good amount of bud drying and curing. Really heartbreaking to lose it after all the work.

Indeed it IS heartbreaking! May our nugs be forever FRESH and MOLD FREE!

Hello family! The only news I have to post is that, I haven’t found any REAL tiger striped seeds on my 2 Herijuana x (Black Widow x Sensi Star)'s that are FAT pregnant with a BAZILLION seeds it seems! And I REALLY wanna get this right, the seed harvesting part, because I REALLY wanna share with you ALL. Now, the good news is I have been checking the sitch and some seeds inevitably fall, and I noticed in my bed that one of the fallen seeds germinated!

So I KNOW even though they havent LOOKED ready, at least one of those fell into the bed below and sprouted, SO THATS GOOD, RIGHT?

Hope all is well with everyone and whatnot!
