Old Weed vs New Weed

Matanuska Thunder Fuck(Bikers Cut) was a clone only strain and did not come in seed form…

Never had 2 year weed :relaxed: but plenty of yearlings…

Monoterp citrus skunk & gas are definitely “louder” at first but also a bit harsher if there’s any going on.

Hazy, sandalwood & cedar stuff seems to need ripening aka curing.

I don’t like 8 week harvests but the humidity out here just doesn’t care. 🥲

So there’s ripeness at harvest to consider too.

A time lapse of a trichome would be very good interesting  all the way through decay to disintegration

I find that most of my sativas get better with age, an 18mo old Blue Dream showed more blueberry flavor than when it was 6mo and 1 year. My Durban Poison also got better with age, still have some from 2019 that I enjoy. I don’t find this true in all strains especially an Indica dominant. I’ve recently had a Kush Mint that went down hill quick, lost most of its yumminess at about 9 months. All outdoor grown, I cure for at least 45 days before I dip into it and just figure that around Christmas/New Year time is when most of it will be optimal.

I agree that most of the haze/thai stuff does benefit from greater age… and the fuely/gassy seems to keep vigor but become funky and less gassy.
I cure til 58-62% rh, then will loosely vacuum seal and refrigerate/freeze until later…

I want the kind of stuff that makes you say, “Am I missing an eyebrow?!” a la Adam Savage from ‘Mythbusters’ lol

Had two SSSDH x Jack plants that were still pretty electric after 5 years. All head, no body. Just kept in jars. Always figured it was something to do with the pine terps that preserved it. Also had a Panama red plant that really only came in to it’s own after a year. All the fuelly OGs all need to be smoked before 6 months otherwise they end up tasting like wet cigar and the high dissipates - almost nullified.

also, new weed (very same day it finally dried) always seems stronger to me… does anyone relate?

The best weed doesn’t last as long with me. Older weed may get better. It’s all relative to the new weed though. Sometimes older weed improves and the new weed isn’t all that. Often the new weed has that special something, for a while.
So, it depends.

what is old on this site would be relative to who you ask.

I’m the guy giving away tons of free weed before it goes off :love_you_gesture:

I sample them from first day of the glass nap, right down to the crumbs.
Every step has a taste difference.
I like having 6-7 different strains to not fall into the single strain tolerance accumulation, we feel when we just grow out single strain. For us, if we puff on a single item, more than a day or so, the effects get dulled down a bit.
I switch up a few times a day for us.
As far as older strains being oh so better than the newer strain, I find that a silly idea myself.

I’ve had plenty of folks ask me, “mota, why do you insist on consuming so much weed?!”

I give them an honest answer: Gotta use it up! The stuff goes bad quick! Shakey Daffy Duck ROFLMAO

looks like it may be time for a road trip? depending on the location. I stiffen up after several hours in the truck, then the pain gets a lot worse. between the pain and the deer or raccoons (maybe both) eating plants last harvest, things could be and have been better. oh well, what did Frankie say, I remember now… That’s Life!

trying to have a better one down here.
