OldFatBiker grows fatter

Thanks for the compliment on my setup!

I always keep a couple sticky traps below my lower part of some plants it’s a great thing to catch the first one

What would an electrical conductivity measurement do for their nutes? I could be wrong because of my device ignorance but imo it would do nothing for them.

6 4 4 is 14% so ie of 10ml is 1.4ml concentration 1.4ml in 4L is 1400 ppm/4 is 350 ish theres your ppm. Wonder what your meter says or why you need one honest.
For organics you also need to look at soluble vs nonsuluable to get an idea as the npk is not all quickly available. But drip feed over healthy roots and microbiom humcs fulvics etc to assist it will be broken Taken up rather quickly in liquid format.

In healthy organic or even semi organic (not toxic chelatated synthetics) you dont need to ph. My tap is 500ppm 8ph lol
Also there’s people (not u terpsnpurps) that ph ro or low ppm well water there’s no need to your dropping a pin in a hey stack please dont ask me why think about it.

Thats true about ph…

I didnt think about that… i ph right at 6.5 and let microbes put it from there… where they want it…

Ec meter… is for making sure when checking runoff that ppms are lower than previous feed …(this is when youre adding nutes because soil is depleted) like foxfarm nutes etc… also for making water with foxfarm nutes … screw recommendations of company… go by ppms etc to measure how much to add…

@GYOweed

Ro water is unstable with ph… i know that from my own ro water experience…

If youre stripping it down… ph will be unstable

How I pH my RO water is by adding pH up until my meter reads 11, and then I pH balance down.

I also had the issue of erratic readings attempting to pH my RO water at first, but I read elsewhere that adding the pH up first adds a necessary buffer to stabilize the solution.

Buenos humos.

EDIT: This is only necessary when trying to pH balance just straight up RO water for flushes. You should pH balance Fox Farms afterwards, not try to pH balance beforehand. Those nutes are the buffers in that scenarios.

EDIT EDIT: It’s essential you pH balance your RO water when flushing your plants.

I used ro ph water stabilizer (calcium bicarbonate)

That’s sick, I didn’t know there was such a product available.

I think Clyde is a mutant. Leaves of three - let them be. Maybe a poison ivy cross?? lol

the three leaves is your first indication she’s a little stressed. could be a few different things… but i would suggest its an environmental issue rather than a mutation

I can keep her in the running. It was a very stunted plant from the get go

I mixed up some feed today. RO water pH = 6.5 (after new filters, etc.). I added nutrients and pH dropped to ~4. Then added pH Up and got it back to 6.5 prior to watering. I’ll use my soil tester later to see soil pH, as it was measuring low before. Fingers crossed. If soil measures higher than I’d like it, then I can use less pH Up.

Temp in the tent is averaging 73 °F. I don’t have a meter to measure runoff yet, and that will come with time. The soil is some version of pro mix. Next grow I will use non-fabric pots to facilitate training. Or fabricate some support rings to put on the rim of the fabric pots to give me some anchor points.

I haven’t used the Tiger Bloom yet. This last batch was Drip Hydroponics CaMG, FoxFarm Grow Big, and Bush Doctor Bembe in RO water.

Sticky traps are in place. Also have neem oil available, diatomaceous eartch, and some nematodes. Visible bug activity has dropped dramatically. I also added a circulation fan to help blow the little bastards around.

Liquid test drops at the moment…

Thanks for all the input @Terpsnpurps @Osogreen261 @GYOweed . I appreciate it.

73 is very low, and those fabric pots and the plant itself will Swamp (evaporative) cool your soil.
I bet your soild temps are around 60.
I bought a meat thermometer just for this purpose, fabric+coco/promix =very good cooling properties.
Good for Vegas outdoor, indoor you need some heat and humidity for veg.

I’ll get there with the temp. I’m thinking of building a heated intake plenum. Not only will it provide warm air, it will also block incoming light.

73 is definitely fine for growing weed.

i just cant see how your soil would get so cold it would stress the plants…but ive been wrong once or twice in the past

but notice how on your blinky, inky and pinky all the old growth has three fingers? but all the new growth has 5 fingers?

thats good. the growth at the bottom is how the plant used to feel and the new growth indicates how she is feeling now.

its consistent across all 3. i bet the clyde will fall in line.

after staring at these a bit it looks to me like

  1. youre over watering them. when theyre “praying”, as old boy says, theyre happy. when theyre curling in and drooping a bit, theyre not happy. ime its over watering

  2. id guess youre feeding every water too. which could burn the plants if youre over doing it.

so less water which in turn means less nutes.

were you giving them nutes since day one?

Nutrients in the last three weeks only. Very little, though, because I have been trying to get the moisture levels better. Nutrient concentration is lower than recommended on the bottle. I used the FoxFarm and some other schedules as guides and scaled from there. I agree they were over watered. Here’s more history.

I germinated six seeds (Mo Lune Day x Golden Showers) and got them going in early June. Since I suck at documentation (which I hope to improve), I don’t know the exact age of the plants. After some issues with stretching (recovered by repotting deeper) and some incorrect lighting exposure, I had some plants that were doing ok. Four of the plants are female and three of those grew to 16" to 18". The other plant was quite stunted at around 6".

Early veg stage was outdoors and did not go well. Then they were brought indoors and put under a small grow light like what you might use for a house plant. Once the plants began to emanate some “odors,” I was “encouraged” to figure out how to deal with the smell. That’s when I got the tent, joined the forum, and the rest is above.

I’m sure not an ideal start, but I can flower these three/four and then start over with more discipline.

I appreciate the guidance. I’m getting a better education than watching PBS!

Update. Plants are doing better with consistent nutrients, better water quality, and controlled pH. New growth has looked healthy. I flipped to flower two weeks ago, but I have been so busy with other projects and have neglected to update the grow log.

Clyde

I trimmed off the leaves with necrosis to keep energy going into healthy parts of the plant. There seems to be a lot of flowering sites, so I’m hopeful for some yield.

I’m just going to keep moving forward with my feeding schedule and hope for the best. The schedule started when I started feeding nutrients, which was quite a ways into the veg phase.

They’re looking a lot better for sure, excellent work.

I’ve been sampling all the Golden Shower hybrids (except the Mo Lune One you’re growing) and they’ve all been phenomenal.
