@misterbee was nice enough to send out some orange juice for me to try. I’m going to grow them out in search of orange 
smell and taste. If I find a keeper I will be doing a seed run to spread the orange love.

I know this isnt what you were asking about, BUT, I use orange peels in my older bags. The stuff that’s brittle. I’ll put a couple fresh peels inaide the bag and in a day or so it absolutely brings the buds back to life, so they arnt quite as brittle. They soak up a little of that moisture from the peels, and it makes the smell like oranges

Has anyone else noticed that orange flavors in buds stay true in rosin and have a long life while lemon flavors often become ‘cat piss’ in rosin and tend to fade quickly as the rosin ages? Could just be the phenos I’ve worked with. Jillybean made the best tasting rosin that I’ve ever made.

The most intense orange citrus terpenes I ever found were in sensi seeds shaman, which is an old school skunk line.
I had one pheno that smelled just like orange peel, one pheno that just reeked of Meyer lemon and sweet lemon skittles, and one with a fresh squeezed lemon and herbal basil and marjoram smell.
The seeds I grew were f-gens of old stock given to me so I could start my first grow. Sensi still offers the line, and it still pops up in Bay Area dispensaries from time to time, so it seems like the genetics are still intact.
All the phenos I grew had some strong fresh citrus smells, but the orange pheno was just crazy. It really smelled like ripping apart orange peels with your bare hands. The brownies I made with the trim tasted like orange infused dark chocolate. I’ve never found anything else where you could taste the terpenes so clearly in an edible.
As a side note, there is a hype strain called skittlez or something like that. Why do people think a skittles smell is a big deal? Ever since my first grow, skittles seem to be one of the most common smells which I find in all types of cannabis.

That’s so funny you say that! I’ve never heard too many people mention Skittles smell or taste, but my wife claims it to be present in like 80% of the stuff I grow. I’m like WTF I don’t get it, and then here you are backing up the claim like it’s common knowledge. Taste the rainbow.

Apparently, the more volatile esters, alcohols and other compounds don’t tolerate the processes well because they are vaporized at lower temperatures. Skunk smell/flavor also appears to not be able to be put in concentrate form.

I squish most everything I grow, and I’d have to lean on agreeing with you here. For sure the orange smells seem to translate well to rosin and have a longer lifespan than lemon smells. I’ve had some lemon strains do well though, like SinCity’s LemonG x SinMint cross was great. But that’s like a sugary sweet lemon. I feel when you get the brighter citrusy lemon terps they do not translate as well to rosin. Very interesting either way. Maybe lemon terps boil off faster under the squish.

I myself am embarking on a serious orange hunt. The 400 Days of Orange. Just finishing up these Seed Junky - Orange Push Pop genetics and they are delivering. Next up is @50State Orange Goji, GluTang (GG#4 x Orange Sunshine), Jilly Bean, Orange Velvet BX, and Bodhi Orange Sunshine F2. I’ll probably be sick of orange by the end of it haha.

Seconding orange sunshine here. I only got one female but it was definitely pretty orangey. There’s probably some crazy orange phenos lurking in them genes.
