I don’t know what their scientific name is, but locally they’re known as “those little green bastards”. Last year I noticed some bud rot on one bud. I cracked it open and that’s what was inside it. Within 3-4 days it seemed like they were everywhere. I saved about half of the bud.

Check this out. Bacillus Thuringiensis

I’ve been spraying it once a week for the last month and a half or so. When the caterpillar eats treated plant material, the bacteria infect it and paralyzes its mouth so it can’t chew.

I spray the Bonide on Tuesday, and Neem on Friday. So far, so good nothing’s been consistently gnawing on them. Good luck with those little bastards

Ahhhhhhhh, that’s where the bt comes from!! Thanks man. You think it just needs to be done peventatively in Oklahoma?

Man, the plants from last year were an afterthought. I needed room so I stuck 'em outside. This year is different, there’s no way they’re gonna get these plants. I’ll use it until I get close to harvest.

I may try to get ahold of some of that. I hate the thought of my harvest going to hell from those little green bastards. Thanks for the advice.

@Badger yup that’s Caterpillar shit. I get them really bad here at my place. They get even worse as flowers start to build. Safer makes a caterpillar spray that works quite well.

They always make a web so if you notice a leaf that looks folded in half itll be those little shits in their web. Good luck with all the pests we have here in Oklahoma.

OK. I need some opinions. I’ve laid out a floor plan for a 30x50 grow room. It’s just the rooms and their dimensions, but I don’t know if I’ve sized them right, or left something out.

So, here’s a PDF of the layout. Please take a look at it and let me know what you think. Thanks everyone. :vulcan_salute:

I’ll tell ya right now you need a larger dry space…

Perhaps look at fine tuning the work flow.
Breeding to veg is good. veg to flower is ok but you dead-end in drying (& I assume packaging?).

suggestions: maybe a double door between veg and flower? another door between drying and storage? Is mechanical large enough?

Hey @Dewb. How’s it goin? That’s the kind of feedback I’m looking for man. I was afraid that room was too small. How much bigger do I need to go for a drying area? Right now the plan is to have 10’ ceilings in the rooms.

Hey @Gpaw. I’m gonna relabel that room processing. Excellent question about the mech room. If you have an opinion feel free to share it. Personally, I don’t have the slightest idea how big it should be, as I’m not sure what all has to be in there. The breaker panel is the only thing I know for sure that goes in there.

I’m not shittin’ you all, I barely know anything about construction. My skills are like this. I built our deck. I can build a wall without too many problems, but I’d be hard-pressed to frame a door or a window in it, and anything with angles is out.

I appreciate the feedback, opinions are what I’m looking for, so don’t be shy. I’m revising my diagram based on your suggestions, and as soon as the drying/processing room size is set, I’ll post it.

Thanks everyone. :vulcan_salute:

For the mechanical room; water treatment springs to mind (depending on local source analysis).
Assuming HVAC is on the roof, you might look at the air filtration (keeping the nasties out).

Size of dry room will depend on several things…
Height of plant
Canopy SQ ft
How you plan to dry i.e. hanging whole plant, branches, or wet trim on racks,
What you have to consider most is canopy size, youll have to fit that same SQ ft in the dry room somehow…
So my flower room is 32x19x10 with a canopy about 500sq ft. And average 3’ tall plants…
My dry room is 32x10x8…I whole plant hang . I have two levels of dry lines running the length of the room with enough room to walk down the middle and I’ve still been having to use other things to hang plants on…

Here’s the revised plan. 30x50 v2.pdf (16.9 KB)

I put “tables” in the rooms. Veg has 2 two 5x15 tables, and flower has 3. Losing the storage room gave me the same sq ft in processing as the canopy in the flower room. I figure I can get a shipping container to use for storage.

The breeding room is small, but for small runs it should be fine I think. If I decide to do a big OP, I’ll just do it in the flower room. Same with the mother room. It’s small, but I think I can put quite a few bonsai plants in there.

Obviously, I want to maximize my growing space, but I think I need all of those rooms, and they each need to be large enough to be functional, so if I need smaller veg and flower rooms, so be it.

Looking good my man. Lemme know if you need help with anything at all!!! I would love to drive down and help wherever I can. Good luck @Guitarzan

Looks like a good layout there, Guitarzan. I might suggest one thing I did notice you might have problem with. Instead of putting the door to the curing room entering from the flower room, I’d put it entering from that storage room. There may be times you need to get in there when the flowering plants are in the ‘dark cycle’. Moving it up near the main entrance would still give you plenty of shelf space along the walls.

Personally I would take out the breeding room a remove the wall between it and the mother room… Use that whole space for moms…
And set up a couple of tents in your house for breeding and males…
You don’t want any stray pollen floating around the building…

Yeah, I see what you mean. The thing is, my wife wants her spare bedroom back, so once that building is done, the tents are retired. I’ve thought about that some, and my idea is to install an exhaust fan with a pollen filter in it in that room.

Then I could put a switch outside the room and evacuate it when I need to without venting the pollen outside so it can get sucked back into the main intakes, or pollinate all my outdoor plants. Does that sound workable?

I’m also wondering what the best way would be to get CO2 in the flower room. I have enough clearance around the tables I think, but if I start putting CO2 tanks everywhere that space will disappear fast. Can you integrate CO2 with the HVAC system?
