Parttime's perpetual party time

This Punta Roja dude is growing a couple inches every day and is just starting to dump some pollen. As always, pardon the blurple. i wish I’d gotten both pics from the same angle to show a better before and after. 4 days between the pictures.

I haven’t really been that present on here lately because I’ve been in project mode all summer, and I figured I’d pop on and make an update post because school is starting this week and I’ll be absent for a whole different reason. :sleepy:

That punta roja plant didn’t really produce pollen after the first few pods opened up, and I think it was a timing issue on my part.

Here’s what my flower tent looks like these days. Got some real stretchy ladies in there.

I spent most of my summer working on a pair of cowboy boots, and due to a patternmaking goof, this is as far as these ones are gonna go. Setting them aside til I can figure out how to fix them or use them for someone else or something. Learned a lot, but now I won’t have any damn boots to wear, which is a huge bummer. The semester starts tomorrow so I won’t have the free time to start from scratch. I’m gonna use a different patternmaking method and gonna make a pretty plain pair. They should come together really quickly if I’m not going crazy with the decoration.

I went and bought a sewing machine recently and spent some time knocking the rust off of a bunch of parts. I had to shorten the treadle belt to get good traction, and got it to punch through 3 layers of leather and make a nice row of stitches with no problem. It has a bobbin and shuttle system like I’ve never seen before, and it’s a beautiful machine overall. It’s gonna work great for sewing boot tops, but I’m also planning on sewing myself some clothes and I might as well use this beauty. Been pretty psyched on getting cheap old shit and restoring it. Just got a lathe recently, and I need to knock the rust off, strip it, and repaint it. It’ll be great for making tool handles, and it’s big enough to fit a table leg on there!

As another side quest I’ve been taking myself on, I’ve been trying to get the hang of spinning linen thread so I can use it in my bootmaking.

That was what I was taught to sew on. We had an electric at home but the 4-h sewing leader started me on her Singer treadle machine,

Hey, hope everyone’s doing well! Dropping in for a little update while I’ve got a couple minutes. I spent time in the garden today and felt like I should pop by and let everyone know shit’s still a-okay over here but I’m still doing my schoolin’. This semester is actually really great, I think every class I’m taking is really interesting. I feel like it’s probably the last fun semester I’ll have, so I’m just really enjoying it as much as I can. I’m looking forward to when I’m actually just finished with school, but I’m making sure to acknowledge how cool it is to get to learn shit. I’m enjoying how different professors have different teaching styles, and I’m looking forward to getting to find my own teaching style in a few years.

I’ve been back in the habit of ignoring my plants so I had to get in and do a bunch of pruning and take a bunch of clones, and I loaded up my bubble cloner for the first time in a while because I’ve gotten fed up with having really poor luck with alternative methods.

As a little bonus, this is what one of my mothers looks like right now. I had intended to be more diligent about the pruning but it’s fine!

Good to see you checking in and glad you are enjoying school man! Lol. What’s the deal with that plant that made a loopty loop?

I had been ignoring my garden so it had become a really tall and just had a little tuft of leaves like a truffula tree, so I bent it to save some height! I was gonna end up taking a clone to keep as a mother, but this one just looks really cool, so I’ve been keeping it around. It’s a freebie seed I got from the Attitude(Karma Genetics - Difrutti) but it’s a resilient plant and I’ve got a couple clones of it in flower now and they’re pretty nice and staying happy pretty easy! It’s a real sweet fruity smelling plant so I think it’ll probably be really enjoyable.

Howdy howdy howdy! Just checking in to say hey. No pictures this time but my garden is doing pretty decent. Took a bunch of clones, didn’t have a ton root, and then everything in my veg tent went kind of woody so I’m trying to take care of them and get some green growth again so I can take some more clones, and then I’ll be throwing a bunch of stuff into the flower tent. I took down a few plants the other night so I have a bunch of room in there, just gotta fill it up.

With me though, things have been pretty cool! I’m still in school, it’s still really interesting. My intro to sustainability class is unbelievably grim because we’ve been talking about the environment and greenhouse gases. My teacher somehow has a really solid attitude despite having a phd in a subject that brings a certain hopelessness, because I’d be a damn wreck! I don’t know how to deal with being knowledgable about shit that sucks.

There’s a solution for everything.

CO2 is not the problem (it’s only 0,04% of our atmosphere, when it goes under 0,02% then plants start dying), it’s essential for plants and the increase will just help everything grow more easily. It’s all the toxins that go along with the CO2 that are the problem.
But we’re in transition, never despair, new inventions are coming all the time.
Whatever the future brings, we’ll find a way.

There’s already fungi that break down toxins, used oil and plastic, do not underestimate the ability of mother nature to heal itself!
We’re cleaning the oceans and rivers, so many cleaning going on already all over the planet, but it’s under reported.
Look for good news channels, they are becoming more popular now, not following fear based narratives but reporting the abundance of good things that are happening!

Just wanted to say thank you for sharing your hard work with us…this is great!

Thanks again for sharing all your hard work

Hey @parttime . Glad schools still going well. I’ve recently just come to terms with the planet falling apart. It’s all good man. The earth is still gonna be here but people might not. Also, I know we aren’t supposed to get political here so I’ll just say… Maybe we just need a hard reset. We’ve been blowing into the proverbial Nintendo cartridge for years now. That shit never worked. Lol.
