Mark claims to sell 50k seeds a monthā¦If so, he is a very busy guy.
Last time, I emailed him, but got no answer, so I used the internal Strainly PM.
He answered that time, and apologized profusely about missing my email.
He is very responsive imo. I returned his $$ via a first class tracked letter, and the tracking showed that the package was still at my local PO after 4 days. I asked him if he had heard anything and he said that he had it and marked the order complete.
That is a very respectful letter, with obviously no issues on your part. He is a very busy guy who obviously gets a lot of emails every day, so its possible that yours may have gotten lost in the cracks somewhere, so reach out to him again and I am sure you will hear back from him. As stated earlier, he is a one-man operation and has no staff to help him, and I am sure he wouldnāt mind selling another order of seeds, so maybe contact him again if you feel so inclined.

There is no way he is selling 50k seeds a month. At a dollar per seed that would be 600k a year in sells. Just not happening. I did see a bio or something where he stated he makes 50-60k seeds every few months and that is why he is able to sell them so cheap.

When it comes down to it, heās a someone whoās passionate about the plant, and has the same mentality of spreading seeds like most here in OG do. He just does it for the public, at less than $1 per seed when you count freebies he throws in, and free shipping. His lines are most likely more worked than some/most ābreedersā that are just making crosses of popular stuff and grabbing for money. Well he says theyāre an inbred line, so itās not just chuck pollen at the cut and sell the seeds.

Iām giving him a chance. I sent an email a day or two ago with no response, but like stated above, Iām sure hes super busy. No harm, no foul in my book. I just shot him a text today. Weāll see what comes of it.

If hes selling 50k seeds a month where are all the grow reports. They would have to be awesome genetics to consistently sell that many seeds and if that was the case the forums would be flooded with people growing his gear. Thats all im saying.

If our going to offer beans from clone only varieties and call them a IBL I would like to see more willingness to discuss how you got to that point. Iām guessing at best there back crossed to the original but to call it a IBL would take many generations.
Iām sure his beans are great and all but keeping track of genetics and offering providing potential customers that info is a big part of being a breeder/ seed producer.
This is no different then if I sold you a specific variety of pepper and it turned out to be sweet when I had it marked it as a hot. Sure a pepper is a pepper but the variety is importent. If the names canāt be counted on then why use them and not just call it pot seed. He uses names because people know certain varieties and prob wouldent order namless varieties. I donāt care if itās cannabis , flowers or veggie stock your supplier should happily answer any questions you have.
That being said it is up to the individual to decide if they want the seeds and it is his right not to answer certain questions but this choice will be seen a a reflection of ones work l.
Iām sure the prices draw enough people in to make up for the ones he loses from lack of response but I still see that as a personal choice on his behalf that I find discouraging.

Iām not going to state all the stuff that you and everyone have said, which is all I know about him.
I agree at the end of the day it comes down to individual preference and what you expect from a seed vendor. As you guys stated.
That being saidāā I do not think it does the site community much good when every other seed question is directed to this guy- āoh I want OG Kushā āsure call Markā.
When no one can even say the guys OG is somewhat like the real thing! (Examples used, idk if he has an OGK) just can say āhe said itās workedā
I also dispute the statement ājust as good as seeds made hereā when 90% of seeds circulating here have a record of existence and proof of work. You know what youāre getting.
I understand being a loyal customer, I really do. I stick by people who do right by me and I donāt intend to bash the guy or anyone who buys his seeds. I get bargain hunting for sure, and I love a good deal. Cheap seeds are great!
However, I will state again, I do not buy the story that he has a load of clone only varieties and has managed to work them all into stable or IBL hybridsā¦ there is just no evidence. Idk anyone who breeds on that scale and doesnāt at least have IG and loads of people mentioning their name let alone a forum presence. Granted, it is possible!
The additional claims of huge seed sale #s are also suspect to meā¦ and add to my feeling of a dude whoās a good salesman and knows what people want to hear.
So I guess the root of my gripe is I think this hype train is taking off awfully fast and I know how this industry worksā¦ seen loads of people taken for rides before and it feels like dejavu. I just hate to see people waste time and energy on plants that are not what they expected or worse.
Again, I donāt intend to beat this to death. I wonāt be pursuing any of his seeds but you all have my sincere wishes of good luck and happy harvests. I hope in 12 months time there are loads of happy journals and I look like an ass.

Seen some pretty nice stuff from peeps here that would be mighty hard to beat even at a āprofessional breeder levelā
At a buck a piece still tough to beat on a slim budget but alot stuff here is given away freely.
Its something I personally aint interested in just my 2 cents.
Something else on the flip of the coin that bugs me worse is possibility of water downed genetics going into a newbies hands to make more water downed genetics and on and on it goes
Iād just as soon make an investment and make me own, ya.

We should keep in mind that we are all in a privileged bubble here, and not everyone thinks like most of us do here, or is as willing to freely share, or has the skills or resources or time necessary to make the connections to get the best of the best seeds, and if you have those skills or resources then you are probably not Markās target audience.
As far as the āhype train taking off fast,ā Mark has been making and selling seeds for a long time, much longer than this edition of overgrow has been around, and his name has been passed around privately among many here, in fact that is how i found out about him. I donāt see people responding to nearly every question with āsure call markā but that answer does in fact apply to many situations here, especially those noobs who only come in here for the seeds, with their hand out expecting people to send them seeds for free.
So, @Blowingupjake you said you donāt buy his story so what do you think he is doing? just randomly labeling bag seed? Buying the seeds from China?
Regarding IG as the be-all and end-all of proof or validity among breeders, all I see on there is a lot of childish posturing and in-fighting, and it has only been around for 10 years, and has only really blown up in the last few years, and I know many hippie growers who dont care about social media etc., but that doesnāt mean they dont know what they are doing. That is an odd yardstick to measure the quality of a business or person by.

but, it seems that you are in fact speculating about him. And as far as older forums etc., like I said, I know a lot of people who can barely get online, have you seen his website? it looks like something from 1982, and is very out of date. I think that some people are good at promoting themselves, but honestly I donāt think that Mark is one of those people, and the only promotion he has gotten here is from people like me, and when invited to come here he has said he has no interest in joining any forums etc., but he freely donated a lot of seeds to the server fund auction when told about it,.
The only point Iād like to make is that Iāve yet to see on OG where everything about a seed source is parsed to this degree. Mind, Iām not saying it shouldnāt be but Iām wondering why itās happening to someone whoās viewed positively like him.
So many seed sellers are brought up here without a lot of OG members vouching for them; many of them getting mixed feedback. I donāt know Mark personally but Iām comfortable with what he provides.
I realize people are looking for grow logs and smoke reports. Until we have those I believe a seller should get the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. From what Iāve seen, many of those touting Mark are long-time growers with vast experience.
If the current āproofā it not satisfactory for you then donāt buy from him until it is. Iām not trying to be nasty but it seems a bit unfair to him. In the meantime, you can watch my grow with his Blue Dream, Blue Cookies, and Purple Kush.

Sure, Iāll give you that. I am speculating, and openly questioning authenticity. But Iām not going to sit here and say heās some conman, sending you totally random seeds, which it seems youāre trying to get me to say @monkeyman ā¦ which Iām having a hard time understanding. Iāve only ever been friendly to you. Donāt wish to keep pushing this button that you have.
I await your results dudes. I am done with this circular argument- until there is more actual credible info about the plants there is nothing for me to say.
