Our 'Ohana in Lower Nāhiku (which is in Hāna for those of you unfamiliar with Maui) have preserved and shared this strain since before the 1960’s.
If there is anyone on Earth who can speak on Maui Wowie it is the locals in Hāna!
When asked about her origins our 'Ohana (Family) says she has stayed pure as long as human memory can recall.
Our belief is that old strains like Maui Wowie, Moloka’i Purpz & many other Hawaiian landrace strains were brought here by migrating birds and may even pre-date human contact.
Moloka’i Purpz was found on the highest sea cliffs on Earth long ago.
If someone tells you they created Maui Wowie they are not telling the truth.
Maui Wowie is older than any of us.
Try growing Maui Wowie at 12/12 & at Hawaiian style 11/13 photoperiod if you would like to seehow Hawaiian she is.
Here less than 1 week and already a beef.

This is a very sensitive subject for many of our breeders. We have lost 'Ohana (Family) to prison and worse fighting for these genetics.
