ReikoX's 1998 Jeep XJ Rebuild

Hijack away! Sounds like a nice deal. I’ve had my eye out for a nice stock XJ for my daughter’s first car. I still have 3 years before she’ll be driving on the streets.

I hate this thread…

Seeing and reading about you guys working on your rigs… and my old ass has a tough time of it. For decades my best bud and I would get together drink some brews, smoke some doob’s and wrench on our Jeeps. Miss those days…

That didn’t stop me from reaching out to a guy with a wrecked 06 Grand Cherokee with a Hemi… thought I might grab it for a Hemi swap in an unused 06 GC I have without the Hemi. Build my daughter a hot rod Jeep…

I know… act my age right!

Its amazing how nice stock ones drive lol especially compared to a lifted one.

Supposidly long arms make them much nicer on the hiway… and the caster is fully adjustable to compensate for the lift so that will be nice

And the bastard just backed out. My typical luck lol

I hate it when people pull that crap. No honor or respect, makes me :face_vomiting:

When ya find a deal like that, you hand over cash and tow it out right there.

Unless that Jeep is rusted out it looks like an easy fix… somebody offered a better price.

Yea, my only hang up was having to get the OK from my boss to park it at the shop. I live in a basement suite, my 4 cars take up my whole driveway the the girlfriend parks both of hers on the road haha. Ohwell, ill get some long arms one day

Long arms when dialed in correctly really makes a big difference in ride quality. Had them on my XJ and the ZJ that followed.

The drop brackets from Rubicon Express werent a bad alternative till i was able to swing the long arm purchase…

Stole this off Facebook for the jeep thread…
…suck it toyotas

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the trails, every yota was stranded their progress like snails.

They had no shovels, no rope, and no winch. No cb no cell phone to get them out of their pinch.

When out from a mud pit, there arose such a clatter. All the wheelers Came running to see what was the matter,

I saw a yota all covered in crud, he had blown his motor trying to get through the mud

As he stood there I noticed his glowing red face. And I knew in an instant he wanted out of this place.

I glanced at his roof it was all I could see. He pleaded for help from my jeep and from me.

So I sprang to the front of my trusty old toy, spooled out the winch cable and said hook 'er up boy.

He went for a swim in the watery hell. And I laughed as he turned brown and started to smell.

He hooked up the cable to his buried front hook. I put a coat on the line like it says in the book.

I winched him out quickly a very fast session, and I charged him a c-note to teach him a lesson.

I then drove me jeep through the same mud and muck, no problem for me cuz’ I had a real truck.

I wound down my window as I drove out of sight , and smugly yelled next time stay home Christmas night!

Need to give the Jeep some love. Have a leak in one of my power steering lines. And my rear differential is leaking, need to re-do the seal and gear oil.

mine is parked…
needs an entire exhaust. I have everything I need but am missing some flanges and I need to find the pipes and gaskets for the pipes that go from the header across to the passenger side.
My t-case is ticking… factory sunroof is leaking… too cold outside to silicon…
what else… still a mystery oil leak after doing a new rear main seal, felpro gaskets on the valve cover… new oil pump and felpro oil pan seal… I did all the seals except for the valve cover seal so I’m thinking that is the culprit.
It’s a 89 with the crappy version of the 4.0 so I’m really hoping to upgrade her to a crate 4.0 HO but I keep having $$$ set backs LOL
My 91 1st gen dodge w250 with the cummins 5.9 suddenly went from being miss reliable to not charging the battery… hmmmmm more $$$$
never ends but it;s still better than monthly car payments and high insurance premiums
