ReikoX's Workshop 2021

Free Seed Friday
This is just like it sounds, each Friday I will be giving away free seeds. The way this works is I will post up three packs of seeds. The first three people to comment “dibs” will win a pack.

This week, up for grabs are three packs of Skywalker Kush x JLO. These are regular photoperiod plants.

Ran the Beam’s test on the six female plants. First I decarbed the samples in the oven at 240°F for 40 minutes. I used cupcake tins to keep it nice and tidy.

Next, I weighed out 1.5 grams into a paper cup and added 60 ml of denatured alcohol. After setting for about 10 minutes, I added about 1 ml of to the snap top tube with a piece of activated charcoal in it.

I then added about 10 drops of reagent (95 ml denatured alcohol to 5 grams of KOH) to the snap top tube and waited about 10 minutes. Samples labeled 3 and 5 turned purple, indicating they had some CBD in them.

Thanks, one question what does the KOH stand for?

Have you tried testing parts before the final harvest? I wonder how early in flower I could determine “some” CBD content vs “none” (and none or very little to be expected until the end). Given I have very little space and the law is not on my side, it could speed up “breeding” for CBD if I could select early and replace the plants without CBD.

KOH stands for potassium hydroxide K is potassium OH is hidroxide. It is a very strong base, alcaline chemical. Because it is so alcanine it is used as a benchmark when calibrating pH meters or to determine the nature or amounts of a substance in a given sample. In this case @ReikoX used it to determine whether these samples had CBD.
