You’ll have to give us some more info on using the beer froster as a freeze dryer for the water hash. I’ve toyed with getting a harvest right freeze dryer, but they’re really pricey. I’m assuming the beer froster is more affordable?

Those squishes look primo! :star_struck:

There is not too much to it. The one I ordered is discontinued, but Amazon says they have one in stock.

I ordered some aluminum trays, they are a little short, but fit well enough for small runs.

Finally I ordered two extra shelves from SPT

https://www.sunpentown.com/product/bc-92us-rack/

I covered the shelves with parchment and kept them in the beer froster until just before making the hash.

After I pull the bags, I put my bag on a clean dish cloth to wick away the water. @JoeCrowe spins his bag using centrifugal force to dry his.

Next I want to get as much surface area as possible. I press it through a cold sieve with a spoon after sitting in the freezer for a few minutes. You can freeze it completely and use a zester to “microplane” it, or simply chop it up into little pieces with a razor blade.

After the hash is in a thin layer, pop the tray in the beer froster and wait for about a week. It might be done sooner, but I didn’t get around to it for six days.

Once dry, I pushed it through a sieve again and stored it in a sealed container in the freezer until ready to put into bags and press it.

That’s mega impressive pressing 8g of bubble hash into 18g of rosin. I need a yield-booster-tron like that!

But seriously, I am interested in your yield data…

Yeah, I thought I was reading shit wrong. How is it possible to get eighteen grams of rosin from eight grams of hash? I’m not doubting or anything, just curious how that can happen.

Those were two of the four 8 gram presses (well one was closer to 6 grams). I track yield as follows.

18.64 grams of rosin out of 30.19 grams of hash or a 61.74% yield. This is pretty good and indicates the hash produced was pretty good, 50% was my target.

So that was 30.19 grams hash out of 1595 grams of wet buds or a 1.89% yield. This is a little low and indicates the flower was of lower quality (for producing hash). 3% was my target.

I knew I was misunderstanding. Or that my misunderstanding was more likely than a typo. Glad I asked!

Looks sooooo tasty!!!

Does the yield figure mean you will be moving on from growing the Cherry Tart?

Haha, just goofing off with numbers now… if I estimste 80% loss wet to dry, I ended up with 319 grams dry of Cherry Tart.

That means I got 30.19 grams of hash from 319 grams dry or 9.46%.

That’s 18.64 grams if rosin out if 319 grams dry or 5.84%.

When I pressed the 120 grams of dry ICookies I ended up with 10.8 grams of rosin, or 9.00%.

I ended up with 319 grams dry of Cherry Tart and 165 grams dry of ICookies, so thats a total of 484 grams from an average if 908 watts or 0.53 grams per watt.

They vegged for 42 days at 11.91 kWh per and flowered for 58 days at 10.89 kWh per day.

That means I got 4.84 grams per day or if you prefer 0.42 grams per kWh.

In other words, lots of room to grow. :+1::seedling:

I don’t know if I will be keeping the Cherry Tart due to the intersex issues. Both the yield and the intersex were grower error.

Nice setup, is the production increase from co2 as great as they claim? I’m seriously considering it.
