The GushMints I used in the run is a cut sold through Cali dispensaries from PCG… it’s the PCG cut, and it’s solid as hell. It’s gorgeous, she’s potent, with beautiful flowers and aromas. And she clones super easy. Anyway, here’s a nice write-up from RadioRidge and GeneFinder:

Gush Mints (Kush Mints x F1 Durb x Gushers)
Bred by Purple City Genetics//Written by Sjoerd Broeks and Eva Erickson | October 2022

Cultivar Details:
Plant Physiology: Gush Mints is a large plant with a big stretch. This cultivar exhibits a high level of hybrid vigor, so cultivators can expect rapid growth during the vegetative cycle. When in flower, Gush Mints grows huge, spear-like colas with tight internodal spacing and a high flower-to-leaf ratio for easy trimming. It produces dense, heavy flowers that need to be supported later in flower. Close to maturation, the flowers fade to a dark purple with bright orange pistils, creating a visually appealing contrast.
The trichome heads have a gritty and sandy quality when broken off the stalk, versus a wet or tacky quality when extracted. These traits affect the quality and yield of resin, and Gush Mints is a big yielder in hash and in rosin. The extract itself is very gassy and yields exceptionally high-quality hash for a plant with this terpene profile.
Average Yield: Gush Mints is an exceptionally high-yielding cultivar. Indoor growers can yield as much as 4.5 pounds per grow light and more than 100 grams per square foot in greenhouses. The dry flower weight of outdoor plants has been recorded to weigh as much as 10 to 15 pounds per plant.
Flowering Time: Gush Mints is a 70-day variety, but can be pulled as early as 65 days without loss of quality. Due to a high level of hybrid vigor, it continues to throw new pistillate growth late into flower. Gush Mints will keep pushing past 80 days with heavy feeding, but the yield and terpene profile will not increase or deepen in richness past 75 days.
Environmental Conditions: Gush Mints performs well in light deprivation greenhouses, mixed-light greenhouses, full season outdoors (spring to fall in California) and indoor cultivation. It is optimized for all growing situations. Gush Mints has shown mold and mildew resistance and in hotter temperatures tends to take longer to mature than in colder, more ideal environments. This variety expresses purple coloration in most environments, but the violet hue is most pronounced if cooler temperatures are maintained during the second half of the flowering cycle. As with any cultivar, full terpene expression and flower quality is also enhanced with lower temperatures during the last two to three weeks before
Recommended Input Conditions: Gush Mints is a vigorous and hardy plant that, once dialed in to a hydroponic system, handles high fertilizer strength and generative crop steering well in flower. Due to its adaptability and vigor, Gush Mints performs equally well in hybrid and fully organic systems.
Integrated Pest Management Notes: Gush Mints is a hearty plant that does not seem to be a magnet for pests. Even if it does get pests, Its vigor tends to allow it to thrive. Gush Mints has shown good disease resistance and is a favorite of cultivators in cooler climates where molds and mildews are a constant threat.
Cannabinoid Profile: THCA: 27.47% Minor cannabinoids include CBGA.
Terpene Profile: Gush Mints has a creamy gas, new tennis ball and epoxy terp with elements of sweet candy, earth, mint and pine kush flavors. There are also hints of rubber and pancakes.
Reported Effects: Consumers have reported strong effects that are relaxing but not always sleep-inducing. Reported effects also include a mix of mental clarity and energy and a relaxing body high.
Breeder notes
“Gush Mints was designed with farmers in mind. We wanted to produce a cultivar that was able to sell as a top-shelf exotic but was easy to grow and had a huge yield. The terps are long-lasting if farmers have to sit on their product, and bag appeal has been optimized for the current market. We’ve been happy that it also washes well and makes good hash. Our menu for next year includes some Gush Mints crosses where we have taken the flower time down to 55 days.”

The Peach Sherbert OG and the Donkey Butter were pheno selected out of many-pack seed runs for production growing. The LimeHead is a from fem seed - Lime1 x 707 Headband. It’s the wildcard in the room as I"ve not grown her before. But the lime zest aroma is very appealing, as well as the nuggy flowers.

I cut down the LS#2 last night. It had an extremely stinky-feet cheese aroma. The kind of cheese that’s repulsive but delicious to eat. The other two Lost Skunks have strong cheese aromas, albeit sweeter, but the #2 was like cheese-shop cheese. It reminded me of a place I used to go in Greenwich Village, called Murray’s Cheese. Always an unbelievable experience every time went. They would know what kind of cheese this Lost Skunk is. They’d probably serve it on a cracker with some quince paste
anyway, she’s chopped. The LimeHead and GushMints still standing but only for like a day or two longer

this is just excellent work, my friend
thank you for getting these back into play.

i am looking forward to grow these gems again … i also have about 15 seeds
of silas’ f1 in my stash, BUT will much rather enjoy your f2, since these will
break open the treasure chest and bring in those extremer leaning phenos with
the classic expressions these classic genetics have become famous for.

thank you again so much for doing this, bro.

wow, limeehad is a really cool combo … this hit by LS =
explosion

Love to see those Cheese genetics playing around

Will be interested in trade if you will have any extra seeds left :upside_down_face:

Are the blues related to the livers cut that was going around the UK?

Hey there, @sprinklememaynee… I’m not a Cheese historian, but my understanding is that the Livers from Sheffield is a cross of an Exodus Cheese with probably a DJ Short Blueberry. Underground Originals developed the Livers cut through outcrossing (to the Smellyberry) and backcrossing, thus making Blues BX2 or UGORG Blues.
Silas used a UGORG Blues male to the Exodus Cheese = Lost Skunk

I"ve been shucking seeds, and the aromas coming off the LS buds are very powerful. Really impressive I have to say, and makes the work a lot of fun, especially comparing a broken open bud of Lost Skunk to Peach Sherbert OG, etc. The LS are extremely aromatic

Thank you, San. What an awesome experience it’s been. And I look forward to exploring these beans. There’s a lot going on with this line for sure. As well as the out crosses. Very stoked and thanks for letting me use your beans. Better to get them out than keep them in yr vault :peace_symbol:

That sounds so delicious. I probably never smelled anything like it. Good stuff dude

“blues” is one of the classic cuts from UK, also named livers"
i believe it exodus crossed to blueberry, but that has been debated.

btw, the ugorg-seedbank did not create livers/blues clone only.
it was around way before they ever started making seeds.
they “merely” made it a bx2 from seed (which is great work !)

@Zanzibar my bro
you are absolutely reliable and very passionate. you can always
count on me getting something nice over to you to bring back
i trust you with anything in my stash.

Thank you so much for this! I have always been fascinated by uk cannabis strains and Cheese is something that I have delved into. I have Read all the old posts on icmag and listened to trucannagenetics and currently have some cheese in my veg. Excited that you ran this project, and cant wait to see what comes of this!

I think I have some d-livers from you stashed away livers x sour d ibl. I feel like that came with a 3 for one pack.

@Zanzibar those sound like they smell amazing. I have a decent amount of crosses with cheese and relatives but I haven’t really grown much of it. I really should but don’t have enough room to grow everything I want :stuck_out_tongue: I used to get some “cheese” back in the day and it smelled like candy and cheese doritos or cheetos. I got it a couple times before it disappeared. I’ve never had anything smell like that since but would love to find something similar again someday.

the “d-livers” is reallllly great … like a “cheetos” with a blueberry twist

I also have some of those Livers x Riri Sour Ds. San has a lot of Cheese crosses: D-Livers, Cheetos, Froot Loops, Homeless Larry… that’s all I can think of I’m sure there’s more.

So, the Donkey Butter produced A LOT of underdeveloped seeds. The most of any plant so far. The ones that are good (e.g. dark) are there, but in comparison to the other plants, the DB was a low show seed-wise.

compare that to the GushMints - which is alway such a crusher anyway, but the beans are rich and dark, too, and very very prolific.

this is key and thanks for making the distinction.
Yes, the world of cheese can be very confusing, @sprinklememaynee There are so many nuances and fine points, it can be pretty confusing at times - at least for me. This Lost Skunk project gave me a really solid understanding, tho.
and thanks for stopping by, @neogitus. Always good to have you chime in
@SubzeroIceKold it’s very unique, and also very LOUD. I think this aspect alone will have people start paying attention to her again… Everything old is new again

You ever hear from Silas? There are so many from the “old days” that just dropped off the forums several years back.

He says around 14:00 they grew out 20,000 plants and picked the 10 best females and 10 best males.

For the females, he’d need to get through 27 plants every day for a year to test them smoke-wise. And what was the selection process for males? I suppose the males were selected before they started dropping pollen, or they took clones of everything. Or 100,000,000 test crosses?

I suppose it depends what you are looking for but picking 10 males from 10,000 as they grow seems impossible. There are only 1440 minutes in a day. 12 hours of time would allow you about 5 seconds per plant. A lot of breeders keep prized males and yet they could just drop a bunch of seeds and invite Sam over.

And he/they did it all in one year, and repeated the process again the next year.

well, imo … that’s not impossile

it depends on what the people decided to select for
and how aggressive they were with deleting plants.

you start 10000 and the no shows already reduce the count,
then the seedlinegs could get sorted out early right from the
get-go, because some won’t be as fast as their siblings ect.

reducing numbers can happen very fast, if you are “unforgiving” enough.

Amazing!

Such good work and so much history, seemingly fantastic results! It has been fun to poke around here and see the discussion around something that fascinates me so much.
