I used to work on High Street in Palo Alto. I even remember the address. Someday I’ll go to California just so I can ship from that address.

I like how you remembered the all-caps detail. Very important whenever sending packages like that. :joy::joy::boom:

I’ve sent DVD’s to Canada a couple of times from the US.
You have to fill out a declaration of goods form and state what’s in there and the approximate value of the item.

It costs roughly $25 to send a DVD in mailer to Canada with tracking #
So, if you just send a letter you could avoid the customs form and the cost of shipping.

I sent some queen bees to TN one time, Guy I sold them to worked there and decided to check them out a little closer before taking them home…
Lol they ate their candy plugs out early and we’re running around in the box. So he got to catch queens (and attendants) in the post office.

So when I first started to trade, I had a similar expeirence . I went in the post office and the lady felt the envolope and said its not a letter what s in here .I told her flower seeds and paid for it being a package. Tht was the last time I went in the post office with my letters. I toss 2 stamps on them and use that board from politian signs and have never had an issue since. And I ve sent tons of them out.Using the mail box.

@HolyAngel pretty much nailed it regarding letters vs packages. Not sure if it works internationally but sending a letter certified is the cheapest way I’m aware of to have tracking on a letter. If I’m remembering correctly it’s approximately $3 or $4, so about half the cost of sending priority but still holds the first class designation I believe. Many blessings and much love

Just say it’s a card

Or better yet, one of those annoying singing bday cards that have little speakers and wiring built in. They are kinda lumpy but totally within shipping specs for a simple letter with one stamp.

Exactly. Or, just drop in in the mailbox and go on about your day. Letters can be up to 1/4 inch thick and must be able to bend/flex.

I felt so dumb when she asked and I was new to all of the trading stuff . I wasn t sure if I was doing anything wrong so I just figured flower seeds were harmless and the first thing tht came to mind . Lol I was actually being honest . She didn t care at all but explained to me the whole letter to package stuff so it all worked out.

Be careful, not all the postal employees know what’s what and some like to put their personal spin on it.

Also, you are in a legal state and seeds are federally legal and considered hemp at this time.

100%… I get letters with 1 stamp on them, but my post office really wants me to put 2 most of the time for some damn reason… Sooooo annoying because now I have 2 to resend from the other day…

I would find out what that damn reason is to avoid future hassle. That sucks. Especially for those without return address or fake address. Better to know what’s up.

Sometimes when people send seeds with one stamp . I get that orange slip in my mail box saying I owe 45 cents and have to go pick it up.

Really? That’s wild to me, I’ve gotten like 6 or 8 pucks on 1 stamp more than once.

Personally I use either glass vials or centerfuge tubes and a Padded mailer envlope. Yes, its a bit more expensive to mail, the recent trade cost me 5.25 to ship, But it was worth it to me, being my first trade, to ensure the seeds got their without being crushed AND that method of shipping came with a tracking number so the person I shipped to could follow the progress and KNOW where they were and roughly when they would arrive. I also Marked the package “Fragile Glass Handle with care” And when asked what was in it, I told her Exotic Hot Pepper seeds, Asked of she gardened and would like some, she did and I took some Hot pepper seeds I had here at the house up to her. I live in a very small town, so the ladies at the post office know me well and they know im an avid food gardner, so when i say seeds they dont question anything lol.

Another advantage to the Padded Mailers, is that they can NOT be ran through the machines, so no crushed seeds, which I have had happen ONCE.

I look at it like this, 5.25 to ship a trade is still FAR FAR cheaper than buying the number of seeds in the trade considering most places what at least 30 for 3 seeds.

Thts the difference ur paying for the shipping. Some people toss them in the mailbox with one stamp and the postage due goes to who ever receives them . Its usually 50 cents which isn t bad but driving to the post office sucks
