Was wondering because I’m seeing the scan lines in your image.

Yeah I don’t know what that’s about but sometimes if I shade the lens on my phone from the light just right I can get rid of them.

Ghost Rose popped out and seems to want to show up the Lavender Frosting! Photos don’t do it justice because the pots are different sizes but the Ghost Rose is pretty damn robust for a seedling, specially one that wasn’t even breaking the surface last night!

Some of the male “flowers” are starting to open a little while others are still small. New to this part so anyone have any advice on what I should be looking for to make sure I collect the pollen before my closet does?

looks like the one is ready to blow. The guys hade me put clean white paper under to catch. Than daily vibrate the plant over a bowl and 1. gently shake or 2. vibrate with a sonic tooth brush or such.

Damn out of likes already! So paper until I see pollen and then from that point on start trying to ease it out with the toothbrush, rinse repeat as the flowers open?

Hey bud. So the ones pointing down are about to burst but that will only be the beginning. All the ones above will just keep maturing and dropping as they go. Took quite a while for me and every day was another pollen grab. My best advice is wear a mask when you collect, turn off all air flow while collecting and hold on tight because the pollen is about to start flowing. My PPP thread will had almost daily pics so it could give you some idea of how this will progress.

Just scanned through it (maybe I should have responded first, didn’t realize I’d get so invested lol). I appreciate you documenting it so well and the advice here. I think I got this! :beers:

Oh you defiantly got this bud. I had the same issue when mine started opening up, just was not sure what to expect. Once it starts dropping you can just start your daily collections and will settle right into it.

Thanks for adding the pictures. When you said “put paper under it” my inner MacGyver perked up and started to think about how I could rig up pieces of paper with the rubberized wire I use to train to put sheets right under the sacs. I saw your pics and was like oh yeah duh

Yeah, you can even put the plant on its side for the most part over the paper and than every day tap more pollen out of it.

This is what I do:

Good call. I don’t know how long I’ll let it go cause I’m only doing a branch or two, or three… ok well definitely less than half of a plant for sure lol The toothbrush method and a few days might give me enough to do the job and put some into storage just to have.

Never would have thought in a million years I’d be interested in learning how to get a plant off, let alone excited at the prospect! Life is funny sometimes

I actually just saw a little on some leaves so I grabbed a piece of paper and flicked the branch a little. Definitely some pollen action going on already. Not enough to do anything with yet but enough to show me I’ll have plenty soon enough. CT got flipped on 6/9 and has plenty of pistils already. 10-12 weeks according to the breeder so those seeds will have more than enough time to get nice and mature too.

Had to play with the tent a bit. The leaves on the CT were starting to claw down a little bit and I figure it’s telling me I’ve held off on raising the light for a little longer than I should have. I was maxed on the hangars so I had to run the crossbar through the bracket on the light itself. If it stretches too much it’s gonna get interesting. And I flipped a month earlier than I planned!

GR and LF had to be raised up too. They were reaching a little before raising it.

Man do the pictures make it look like I have a lot more space than I really do!

I like parchment paper for catching the pollen on. Much more expensive than newspaper though.

I have some and gave it some thought. I was planning to use it to make cones on the branches I’m going to pollinate too to isolate them. Figured I’d cone them up like a dog with stitches overnight while the pollen is on them and then spray everything down with water in the morning before removing them.
