Well it sounds like a winner. I’m sure I’ll find a way to fuck it up, but should get some interesting plants and seeds from it anyway. It’s just for fun, whatever tickles my fancy… A pure hobby.
I remember you speaking highly of Blue Tara and Hibernate too. I was looking hard at those to stick with a foreigner theme, but ultimately didn’t make the cut.
The LSD F2s I made seemed like a good match but it was more fun to run the Blue Sunshine cross Greenfingers made with them. Grape Pie x Orange Goji too, excellent but I just ran it and didn’t want to make toooo many polyhybrids. NLs could’ve been a nice old school pairing, I really like the smoke but the buds are too shitty.
I have some Female seeds C99 unintentionally crossed outdoors with whatever bagseed my chronic Jamaican neighbors were growing, those turn out some nice plants and buds whatever they are but the pure C99 I think will cross better. Some day I’d like to reproduce those PSBC C99s and Sweet Skunk.
Was contemplating a bunch of other fruity and citrus and sativaish stuff but, I’m pretty happy with what’s on deck, IMO some very fine genetics from excellent people.
Hopefully it wasn’t a bad idea to drop them before a long weekend Should be a bunch of nice tails when I get back.
Yeah for sure man it depends on your goals and I totally hear you about too many polyhybrids. With the CaliO I want specifically I hope they pop. I expect they should, I mean the last ones survived 20 years but they were stored perfect perfect. These ones not so much.
Hibernate and Tara are both solid choices but you can’t run everything. I had some hibernate just the other day. It’s getting old but still very nice stuff.
Woo long weekend! I’m staying home and doing nothing which suits me fine.
Well, first the good news. I got 5 / 10 Cali Os to pop…
Now the bad news, it’s looking like a failure to launch on all of them except for mayyybe one. They broke the surface then just stopped growing. Dang it Bobby, week 1 and already time to pivot. Wish I’d direct sowed them, might’ve gone better
The others seem mostly OK, maybe a bit stunted. Because the sprouts were so big I put them on the side of the cups then gently filled coco around and it worked.
But have no fear, the abuse (stress testing?) of Foreigner Forestry products is not over! Triple Spice (88g13hp/Congo X Panama/Malawi) is yogurtizing as we speak.
And I dropped some Blueberry Hashplant x Blueberry NL too because I don’t think they got a fair shake last time around, wasn’t a good pheno.
Going to try Botanicare PBP instead of Jacks 321. Not sure how it’ll go in coco but should be less work to mix anyway, woo laziness!
Oh well, they were a wildcard anyway. Maybe I’ll try some next go to see if I’ve got better luck.
The root system looks good. It looks like you were very careful with the big sprouts so I’m sure it’ll be fine.
We already know about the 88g13 and the pan/mal but the congo influence had a lovely lemon smell to it and was stockier than I’d have expected.
I’m concerned about my germ rates a bit too because most of it is older stock. I took certain measures to buttress against this but we will see. Too early to tell. But I am checking them every 5 minutes
Yeah looks neat, I like those clear cups. Is light bad for the roots ? I don’t think so.
When I direct sow I over-check too and usually end up digging to see what’s going on. Less stress to just see them in paper towel and know. Lemony Congo sounds nice, have some going into coco now. Hope you have better luck with the old stock.
Decarbed some bud tonight. Was using the toaster oven outside to not stink up the house, temps were not stable like 225 - 275 and more towards the high end so I only did 20 minutes.
Then I ground it finely and just… threw some down the hatch. I saw @rogue talk about doing it that way, it’s a nice way to do it.
Didn’t taste good but it’s low effort and the effects were nice from 1/4 tsp. I think that could fit in 2-3 caps so it’s easier to eat. Maybe mix it with some yogurt, or milk (from a jug).
If you have a way of boiling a pot of water outside then you could put a smaller pot with the bud on top of the pot of gently boiling water, make sure to have the lid on, then you’ll have constant temperature of 212 F / 100 C.
I highly recommend trying out 1 hr 11 mins, taking half out, the rest til 2 hr 22 mins.
Then eat half a teaspoon of each.
With less stinky bud you can just do it in the kitchen with the ventilation on.
If it doesn’t stink once dried then it’s usually not gonna stink much when cooking it either.
Another upside of this method is that you can let your bud get bone dry.
Chocolate milk is also great to mix it with, if the taste is an issue.
True story I dug one up on the second day to see if it had begun and it had so I buried it back down.
I was thinking I was overthinking. This germ run was too cold and too wet. But all good no problem.
That’s it. It’s a fight.
Maybe you could sous vide it. Just like rogue mentions with the boiling pot. Stability. It’s a bit low temp by a little but you can just let it sit for 40 minutes. And it doesn’t smell
Thanks for the tips, I’ll try it your way next time. The double boiler is a great idea. Could do it outside on a camping stove too.
Also a great idea. That’s the one kitchen gizmo we don’t have. I do have this big ass torch for lighting the BBQ, bet it could put an amazing sear on a sous vide steak. Or charcoal at 700 degrees…
Actually the BBQ would be good for decarbing, holds a nice steady temp. Mmm, smoked buds… Terpine-infused ribs…
G13HP at 56, no ambers yet but finishing soon hopefully. I pulled the net to trim the crispy leaves and it was kinda messy going back on obviously. Same cut as the seeded plant, this one is way leafier due to high N feeds I suppose.
Oh that’s a nice trick. Now I have to boil some steaks.
This G13HP just smells like stinky dank weed to me, nothing specific. It’s pretty pungent and similar to Haffa.
I think that 3rd Cali O might do something, it’s trying to put out some tiny leaves. Pretty sure fungus or something went after the taproots, there were some weak sections when they came out of the paper towel.
