Smokenhike Grows Again

It has pretty fat lower buds too, bigger than average. Didn’t know there was Snow Lotus in there, can’t complain about that. What’s the history on this one ?

Grape pie is cherry pie and snow lotus plus the goji also has snow lotus in it

55F. Not quite done yet. Thought I’d go over my setup for vacation watering.

From the Home Depot irrigation section: 1/2" & 1/4" tubing, 2 x 1/2" MPT barb adapters, tubing stakes or a loop of coat hanger, manifold. No drippers in the pots, just open lines to avoid clogging. Dip the tube ends in a thermos of boiling water to stick them on the barbs easily.

Cheap pump in a bucket on a Kasa wifi smart plug. Note the inline dripper at the top, this is critical to prevent the res from siphoning into the tent. An open line works here too, but with a dripper you lose less pressure.

Tapo wifi cam and Ecowitt soil moisture sensor.

When the soil moisture goes below 40% I turn on the pump in one minute intervals and watch the moisture levels.

Bluemats would probably be better, but I had most of this stuff on hand already from doing drip coco. With a garbage can res I could probably get away for 3-4 weeks until they need top dressing.

Thanks for stopping by!

Looking good.

How do you like the fancy moisture tester? Looks neat and a clever way to do it.

I like it a lot, really helps me keep on top of watering. It’s very reliable and I haven’t changed the battery since I got it Jan 2020. It is (unofficially) supported by Home Assistant too, so I could use that to do something when the moisture in the pot gets low, like send an alert to my phone or turn on the pump for a few minutes.

The sensor itself doesn’t have wifi it uses some other frequency with longer range and lower power requirements. So you do also have to buy a wifi gateway for ~$40 which comes with a temp/humidity probe attached and can be used with other Ecowitt gizmos. Needs to be calibrated with fully dry and wet values on first use, and when changing mediums. Makes nice graphs and keeps historical data on ecowitt .net at no cost. Needs an app for the initial set up which is a bit janky, but it gets the job done and you rarely need to go in there.

Prices are a bit lower buying directly from Ecowitt I believe, if you don’t mind slower shipping.

Very cool. I don’t know much about it but is there any way you could calibrate the pump to volume instead of minutes? It would be cool to go “ok fancy tech I want 1L of water this instant.”

That’s a good idea. You could time how long it takes to pump 1L out of the res then just run it for that long. Could also use an ultrasonic sensor to measure the water level, but it’s a lot more complicated to set up. Right now it’s set to turn off 1 minute after turning on to avoid pumping out the whole res by accident.

Makes total sense. I like it.

Day 59.

All of G99’s lower branches have flopped over, as C99s tend to do.

G99 - AOG - GPOG

GG4 x C99

Grape Pie x Orange Goji

Alien OG F3

G99 & GPOG are mostly cloudy with very few ambers. AOG about half cloudy.

67F, chop chop. 25% amber maybe a bit less on AOG.

Usually I chop at cloudy with a hint of amber, because I like 'em speedy. Thought I’d let them ride a bit this time and see how it goes.

@ShiskaberrySavior’s Grape Pie x Orange Goji

@Oldtimerunderground’s Alien OG F3

@Floyd’s GG4 x C99

THANKS for the amazing genetics guys! Can’t wait to see how they smoke.

For reference, they were flipped at day 35 from sprout and are between 3.5 and 4 feet.

They all look great!
Can’t wait for the smoke reports.

You’re very welcome, and thank you for growing them all out so righteously and sharing the results with us. Those buds look downright lethal! :grinning:

Awesome growing bro. Congratulations on the first harvest at your new place too!

Thanks guys, I’m happy with the results. Took some trial and error to get things going in the new space. I went for the Orange Grape first, it was very terpy.

Smoke reports on quick dried 59F test buds, went for my usual 2 hour walk with a joint for each. They’re all potent, taste like smoke and smell like dank with a hint of ___.

Grape Pie x Orange Goji
Thick rich smoke that coats the mouth. Creeper hybrid with a floating, dreamy feel. Good for doing things or being lazy, its just nice you could grab this any time. Hint of greasy rag.

Alien OG F3
Starts out clear headed with body relaxation and relief of small pains, then shifts to body heaviness and introspection later on. Further testing will be done from the couch when I need to chill. Hint of earth and fresh pine needles.

GG4 x C99
Very cerebral, almost no body. Good for activities & thinking, might be my new hiking weed. Stimulating but not speedy, touch of paranoia though I did smoke a pretty big one. Keeps me up if I smoke too late, not bad if you feel like staying up until 3am writing smoke reports tho. Hint of old pine sap. When the joint sat out for a few days it was really skunky, I had to move it like 10 feet away, but I don’t get that from the drying plants.

All very good and very different.

I’ll revisit after a decent cure on the 67F stuff to see if there’s much difference. Jumping on the Grove Bag hype train for that. Whole plants with fans removed have been hanging for 9 days, stems are still pretty bendy. Drying conditions in the basement are decent without doing much. Just have the dehumidifier in the grow corner set to 60%, it’s pulling a cup or two of water per day.

Good and bad on this run
+ Happy Frog for veg
+ auto-ish watering setup
+ low maintenance, no meters just tapwater & topdressing
+ CMH
- CMH heat
- probably happier in bigger (fabric) pots
- keep it simple on the teas
- hard to judge when its time for top dress in pre-amended soil

Thinking of a milk-themed auto run next, with coco and Jacks or Maxi

I must have been smoking this too.

Great grow and smoke report. Sounds like GG4 x C99 leaned more to the C99 side.

I have a nice C99 outside that I can’t wait to try. I have been smoking mostly indica and hybrids that lean indica. I’m ready for something to get me high instead of stoned.

Great smoke reports think you’ll like the grove bag cure.

Congrats on a great grow and a great harvest. Nice smoke report. That GG4 cross sounds wonderful

Well thanks for tagging along. 3am smoke reports are worth it, bit of a lost art at times. C99 is my favorite, great choice for an indica break and should live up to its reputation. Seems to bring the heat on anything it gets crossed with too (if you haven’t seen the Guava Hashplant thread…)

@ShiskaberrySavior do you vac seal your bags for the cure ? Got QP bags, perfect size for these plants and I liked how easy it was to stuff the top cola in there whole along with everything else.

Which one did I steal borrow from my wife’s knitting kit ?

She has more.

New stuff coming soon, gathering the bits now.
