I guess middle left
Yes once dried I vac seal to cure . Lately I’ve eliminated the freezer and been curing in a cool dark closet vs a freezer cure . Still long term storing in the freezer just not curing using that method .
Awesome smoke reports man! Always my favorite part of a journal. Sounds like you got some buds for every occasion/situation.
Grape Pie x Orange Goji sounds particularly nice.
Very curious to know what strains would fit this theme?
Obviously the pink one
On to the next thing. Trizzlers + Jack’s 321 + recirculating drip coco under HLG 260 set to 120w. A very @Mr.Sparkle inspired and supplied grow (thanks!).
Time to settle the debate…
Trizzlers after ~20hrs in the Instant Pot set for yogurt.
Spray painted Sterilite tub with a pump & manifold on a smartplug. There’s also a mixing pump in there now.
Holds ~5 gal. Have some pool shock probably wont use it, maybe before res drain & fill.
I have this automated using Node Red + Home Assistant and will be adjusting as we go.
- Irrigation pump runs if the soil mosture is <50% or it hasn’t run for 24h.
- Irrigation pump turns off after being on for 30s.
- Mixing pump runs once per hour for 1m.
Will try to let PH range from 5.8 to 6.2 is, EC is at 1.1.
It was a lot of effort for a meme grow, but hey what’s the point of life if you don’t do what you enjoy ?
Update time. Long week with a lot of bullshit, recharging in the garden.
PH wasn’t stable with GH PH down, switched to some phosphoric acid leftover from brewing, much better and more concentrated.
Streamlined the automation a bit and added buttons to manually turn things on or off.
It’s been working great so far, except for one bug. I overlooked something causing Node-RED (Javascript) to consider “100” to be less than “50” (percent soil moisture) so when the coco got fully saturated the pump would cycle on constantly. Luckily I noticed after an hour or two and it was an easy fix.
They got a bit overwatered after that, so I turned off the irrigation until they build more roots. The soil moisture is barely moving at this point anyway.
Jug plant took some damage from overwatering while the bag plant didn’t. +1 point to milk bags… Added some speed holes so the jug can breathe a bit.
Coco 2x bigger than soil.
Res change.
Liking the Grove Bags, very convenient. Not “burp free” as they claim, but there’s no smell and they hold the RH steady. The buds get a bit more mushed together than in jars, that’s ok.
If you made it this far without falling asleep… thanks for stopping by !
well the jugs are good for something
I have to confess… It’s actually a 1.5L apple cider jug. Hard to find milk jugs that hold about the same as a bag in Ontario. Looks like they changed the rules back in 2018 to stop punishing retailers who prefer superior milk delivery technology, but still we choose to be stuck in the past.
Everyone is always blaming the metric system.
Best part: “my friends from Detroit were making fun of me.”
Yeah that’s weird. Ha ha, look at this guys MILK!
Is your plan just to dial back the water a little? Let them dry out and reset?
I’ll turn off the auto watering and watch them. Keep thinking “been a couple days they’re drooping in a small pot of coco they must be thirsty!” but no. It’s packed in there pretty dense without much perlite.
I’ve got some plants with very different water needs. A couple use it all up really fast and one never seems to dry out unless I starve it. I’ve got to adapt manually but it’s really not a big deal just something I need to be mindful of.
I usually mix a gallon at a time and I hate mixing half gallons. Just because I’m lazy.
Yeah hand watering is better, more control and I guess your nutes make it easy to mix a quick batch. I have to give that PBP a try someday.
Jacks would be bad for that, having to weigh out multiple salts and mix them one at a time just for a gallon. It’s good for this setup though mixing every ~2 weeks. Total cost of nutes for the run should be around $6 (including shipping).
24 days from sprout. They’re starting to flower and I’d say jug is in the lead now.
They were still droopy after no water for a few days, raising lights, and going 18/6. Figured drippers might be wetting only a narrow channel through the coco letting the rest get funky. They’re a bit happier after a thorough hand watering. So I’ll probably do that once a week on top of the auto watering which is running for 2 minutes when the soil sensor hits 50% every 2-3 days.
There’s some clawing. Probably from running more solution through and EC rising as the res evaporates.
Results would be better hand watering and drain to waste, but it’s fun tinkering with the recirculating setup.
Thanks for looking.
Well they’re looking good. I will occasionally use powder nutes but I don’t weigh them and I don’t stir I give them a good shake to dissolve.
$6 is hard to beat. With purchasing in bulk I imagine mine is more like $25.
Miracle Gro martini, shaken not stirred ? Makes me wonder how many plant problems are caused by over-complicated nutes, and if anyone’s tried growing weed with this ?
Has some decent ingredients, plus my grandma used it so you know it’s good shit.
OTUG’s Alien OG F3 is good chill out smoke, seemed like the right choice for some infused oil.
- 1/2oz popcorn nugs in a mason jar
- pressure cook 15 mins & release steam
- add 1 cup melted coconut oil
- pressure cook 15 mins & leave on keep-warm for hours (I did 5)
My tolerance is on the lower end, but 1/4tsp got me where I want to be and then some. Sedated me for a few hours then I got up feeling relaxed and motivated. I’ve been pretty depressed lately, it helped.
I love infused oil it’s good shit! I take some everyday. Mostly in my morning coffee, but I usually have a few capsules throughout the day too.
I’m happy to hear it helped you you grew it out beautifully. I’m looking forward to growing it again too, probably make some fem beans down the line.
I have miracle grow as one trick in my bag of tricks.
Nice looking oil. The pot spacer looks a little flimsy but it seems to have worked out for you.
Taking it by the spoonful?
Miracle grow is underrated. Cheap, mixes easy with no dust or stink, designed for a variety of gardens & gardeners ? Sign me up.
Instant pot calls that thing a trivet yeah its flimsy and annoying to clean but it works. IP is a useful gizmo. Usually I’m too lazy to cap the oil but I do sometimes. It goes solid in the fridge, pretty easy to break off a chunk to eat, or cook with.
@Oldtimerunderground how do you like to make your oil ? Lungs are not happy lately, think I’m switching to this as my main method.
