Extra proof that Moose allow us to live when we run into them:
It doesn’t slow down. That snow would deadstop a fucking truck with the right tyres!

I got 4 1/2 Blueberry smelling ozs. from my CBB plant. Nice size buds, very good genetics sir.
Good morning, afternoon, or evening @SHSC-1 . I keep thinking about you out there hunting. Someplace so quiet you could hear “a mouse piss on a piece of blotter paper”. Thank my dad, the hunter in my family, for that one.
The longer you’re away from here, the more I wonder about where and what you’re up to? So how big is a moose. Not a dead one, the cranky bastard getting ready to charge you!
Next question. How far do you have to haul the butchered carcass? A couple trips I’d imagine?
I’ve got a lot of family in Montana. An uncle was upper level Montana FWP years ago. When visiting we ate a lot of “meat”, never knowing what.
hey man I’ve been home for a few days now, just layin low and recuperating.
I did a bigger post on the other site, but yes, I ended up getting my bull moose but it was a difficult hunt and took 12 days to finally connect. There was Grizzly, Black bear and wolf sign all over the landscape and seeing as I was hunting solo , no cell service, no internet, no other hunting camps…the solitude it was interesting and refreshing but a little unnerving as well. Usually I have a dog with me when i do these kinds of solo adventures but with Lucy passing away last spring this was my first dogless solo trip.
You asked how big is a moose on the hoof?
This one is probably a 4 year old and weighed 460 , not including the hide, head, innards and the lower legs below the knees. My guess would be 650 to 700 pounds on the hoof. Took me more than 24 hours to get all of him out of the bush and I actually spent that night under a tarp shelter in the bush in -5C weather to guard the remainder of the animal so I could get the rest out the next day. Shot it at 930 on the 2nd and the work was done by early afternoon on the 3rd
had some time to ponder life and things.
I am taking a break from slinging beans and daily forum involvement.
So I guess hanging up my sponsor membership for the time being.
cheers!!
Great kill brother @SHSC-1…ahhh the joy of a harvest supplied by the creator is the ultimate gift to you and your family! Sure makes us work for it but when it’s all said and done the gratitude is greater than the glory.
Enjoy your break man…well needed rest is definitely a requirement after a solo kill. Right on man happy for you!
