How much of his other stuff are you feeding and when was the last time you calibrated your PH pen and cleaned your TDS meter?
My measurements (not counting my water (50 ppms)) have been about EC 1.2-1.3 (600-650) using about 6ml/gal magnifical, micro, bloom, and 1.25ml/gal astroflower. Im thinking maybe too much astroflower locked out the cal-mag cause that seems like a lot of calcium.
I calibrated everything at the start of this grow, but after checking everything, I found my EC meter was in fact reading low - about 150 PPM lower than it should be. PH pen was fine. I ended up giving her a 24 flush and reset her tank. I’ve typically been feeding 6 ml/gal across the board including the AstroFlower - sounds like I should be cutting down?
Apologies for my tardy response. So much crap going on, but I’ve decided the pull the trigger on retirement at the end of the year so that should free up some time
As always, I’m very appreciative of your advice and perspective
Good to see that you got it fixed. After mentioning it to you, I recalibrated mine too . Luckily mine was only off by 20-30 ppms at EC 2.4.
I don’t like using that much astroflower personally. It seems I had problems when I went that high. I saw a video where Remo mentions sometimes he goes higher with the astroflower, but he also runs a commercial grow with CO2 and stuff, so he can push his plants crazy.
Too much P or K can lock out calcium. You were feeding a lot of calcium, so I don’t think it is lack of nutrient, but lack of availability.
I hope you get it fixed and you prep for retirement. congrats!
Just finished the second week of flower for these girls and they’ve both started to fill out nicely as they go through the stretch. Both plants are feeding and drinking really well. The Pink Rozay is about 26" tall now and the Jealousy is about 22". I boosted the Jealousy’s bucket to even out the canopy.
I’ll do some pruning and a bit of defoliation over the next couple of weeks to clean things up a bit.
The Jungle Lava Auto continues to growing very well.
I think she’s about done stretching now and has reached 42". Buds are now starting to swell and the frost is setting in. She has an intriguing sour smell when you rub against her.
She now has the tent to herself as I moved out the Cherry Alien that was growing next to her as things were starting to get crowded.
I recalibrated my equipment earlier in the week (thanks for the reminder @Oozle ) and found my EC pen was reading about 150 ppm low. As her leaves were displaying signs of some sort of deficiency and/or lockout, I gave her a 24 hour flush with plain water and flora kleen, and gave her fresh nutes and water following the flush. Hopefully, we’re back on track.
The Cherry Alien has entered flower and starting to fill out.
I’ve moved her into my small 30" x 30" tent where she’ll have a little more room to spread her wings as she had limited space in my other tent growing next that space hog, Jungle Lava Unfortunately, this small tent is just over 5’ tall so I’ll likely ScrOG her and smoosh those branches down to control her height.
As a consequence of this move I’ve had to deploy my dinky 2 watt air pump to provide the bubbles in her bucket. While not unleashing the usual tempest I’m used to seeing, there seems to be enough action to keep things growing and her roots looking healthy. I’ll be keeping a close eye on things.
The Jealousy and Pink Rozay are coming along very nicely; just finished week 3 of flower.
I did some super cropping on both plants a few days ago to help manage the height in the tent and keep the canopy even. Both ladies are bouncing back nicely.
I do believe cutting back on the astroflower has helped. The spotting doesn’t seem to be spreading or progressing on the afflicted leaves so I’m thrilled! Thanks again for your sage advice!
The Jealousy & Pink Rozay are both doing great, just finishing week 4 of flower.
I think we’re almost done with the stretch now. The Jealousy is about 30" tall and the Pink Rozay slightly taller at 32". I’m pretty happy with how things are shaping up.
Buds are swelling and the Jealousy has a delicious orange scent when you rub against her; that would be her Sunset Sherbet side at work. Intoxicating. The Pink Rozay has not so much scent in the way of stem rub at this point.
I did some clean up on both plants earlier in the week; cut out a lot of undergrowth and scraggly branches. Things are looking good.
The Cherry Alien is doing very well for the most part.
The heat and light in this little tent were getting a bit much for her as I noticed some of the upper leaves starting to canoe. I raised the light as high as I could and she’s got some relief now; light is about 20" above the canopy.
She’s filled the ScrOG nicely and hasn’t stretched too much which is great. I super cropped one of the taller branches near the front of the tent, other than that everything is pretty even.
She’s feeding and drinking well, about 2 litres/day.
Bud sites galore. Looking forward to the fattening.
She’s not drinking and feeding as much and I’ve just stared to cut back her feed a bit. EC has been around .8 and PH has been running between 5.7 - 6.1.
Trichs are starting to get milky. I’m thinking harvest in the next week or two - I like to see some amber.
The Cherry Alien is blasting along. This plant is reputed to be done in about 65 days and she certainly seems intent on finishing close to that timeline.
Buds are getting plumper everyday with some pistils already starting to turn red. She’s getting more fragrant too; fruity and sour.
This baby has been fun to watch. Looking forward to the finish.
everything is filling out well, especially those cherry aliens. All the plants seem like they are getting close to . Do you have your next grow planned out yet? Do you dry in the same tents so you have to wait to pop your next bunch?
Ya, that Cherry Alien is crazy. She really responded well to FIMing and the ScrOG. I wasn’t sure that the little 2 watt pump that’s blowing her bubbles would be sufficient but it seems to be doing the job.
Yes, I have to dry in the same tents but I think my harvests should be just staggered enough that I should be able to free up one of the three tents (likely the 3x3) and get the next run started before having to wait for everything to finish up. The Jungle Lava will probably get the chop in about a week; about 3 weeks for the Cherry Alien; and the Jealousy and Pink Rozay have about 5 more weeks to go.
I’ve definitely started to think about my next grow. I have a few candidates in the old seed box, but the lure of grabbing something new is always appealing
In terms of what I have on hand, this is what I’m considering:
Photoperiods
Mac 1
Mango Meringue
Skywalker
Grandaddy Purps
Forbidden Fruit
Autos
3 Bears OG x Double Grape
Creme de la Chem
Cake Stomper
What’s your drying situation? And how many tents to you have going now? Is it 3?
