Sun Grown Bud Is Better

Survive, thrive, bloom, reproduce via stolons, offsets, flower, and produce seed. I’ve grown some spectacular plants with pin CFL’s. “But this isn’t replicating the sun at all” lol. You just want me to be wrong sooo bad I can taste it.

What does a plant have to do before you say “this is replicated sunlight”? It’s always some unquantifiable “quality” you can’t name.

This says absolutely nothing about a light replicating the sun.

Feel free to post whatever you think replicates the sun. Everyone can make their own decision.

How does it not? What does an indoor plant have to do to satisfy you?

CMH, HPS, LED, MH, plasma, take your pick, Okie.

So you are saying any one of these lights is the same as the sun?

What’s your proof?

How is the radiation emitted by these lights different? You said yourself you don’t know much about light. What can I teach you? What does a plant need to do for you to say this is like the sun? Please, tell me.

Light is simply radiation of a certain wavelength. Infrared to visible to UV. As far as closest to sunlight, I’d probably CMH is closest with the radiation emitted and spectra.

No Vern… you said the same as the sun, not closest. I’m still waiting for a light that’s the same as the sun cause ya know… there’s nothing special about the sun.

Let’s look at the wavelengths? :man_shrugging:

What emits light from the same physical process as the sun? Plasma. Excited matter. But you don’t use plasma lights, do ya? They’re available.

HID operates on a same principal, adding energy to halides until they emit radiation. Light is light either way. It’s just wavelength and energy. Take an entry level physics course or something.

As far as replicating the sun…any grow light. How do you stand watering plants in your boss’s facility surrounded by budding plants and think “no this isn’t replicating the sun at all”? I don’t get it.

What about wavelength? What’s your question?

Maybe we have different ideas of replicate:

REPLICATE | definition in the Cambridge English Dictionary
to make or do something again in exactly (EXACTLY | definition in the Cambridge English Dictionary) the same way.

Again, I think if you look at spectrum, no artificial lights are like the sun. You have stated a CMH is Closest to the sun. It is not the sun.

That’s how you’re choosing to frame this? Quibbling over the definition of replication?

It does the exact same thing the sun does. Hold your arm under an HID all day and you get sunburned. Put a plant under an HID light and it grows. IDK what to tell you other than you just want me to be wrong more than anything.

Pretty simply really.

Move them goalposts any faster and you’re gonna need to put them on wheels.

OK…plasma. Plasma Lighting emits light in the exact same process the sun does. Superheated matter.

Do you use plasma lights?

I’ve also seen supplemental lighting in greenhouses…

They exist, but are quite expensive. In fact I think you can only lease the technology not even buy it…

Honestly this thread is going nowhere and degrading into an “I’m right, you’re wrong” thing.

There’s plasma lights but they never took off. Too expensive, no real benefit over HID.

They were the hype new tech before CMH and LED started taking over. The Betamax of the grow light world.

Bless you for making that. I am a massive Simpsons fan.

I don’t see why you would want to replicate the suns exact wave lengths anyways, some of what the sun produces is bad for plants, like gamma rays, uvc, x rays, etc. Why not just take what the plant likes and uses?

Stop making sense, you reasonable person.

Partially, because if you were to do that, and continue to only breed plants under that, over generations the plants would lose their resistance to all those things.

Not saying that that can’t be good for a certain time and place to take those stressors away, but the conversation is leading us back to the same place all of the threads that use the general term “better”
Lead us to

Just saying better is far too broad because we need to define what better is. And it could be different for everyone.

It’s not trolling just because you don’t want to hear it.
