I’m sorry if I missed it, but why triangle kush? It seems like I’m seeing it more and more. I have some tk x day 56 headband and the 5150 tk x headband. I don’t think I’ve ever had triangle kush.
I’m not sure I understand the question. Why am I growing TK? Not trying to be rude, I just genuinely don’t understand what you’re asking there.
Triple Sunshine is (Triangle Kush x Sunshine Daydream) also.
5150 tk x Headband sounds like it could be great!
Yea that’s pretty much it sorry. Just wondering what the hub bub is about with TK.
You need to get the clone only, no seed will be up to the level of the clone. It’s the best tasting and smelling with an incredible high. I can stop popping seeds now because it’s so good
Idk about not popping seeds but if Chem91 is the Queen, TK is the Empress, imo
For me, the first TK cross that I remember trying was Black Triangle. I wasn’t all that thrilled with the pack that I went through and that dampened my interest in the TK at the time. Fast-forward a year or 2 and SHOE was holding a fundraiser where he was selling some old packs. I wanted to scoop up another pack of SSDD in order to F2 my bubbashine pheno so that I could retire it. I also saw TK x SSDD (triple sunshine) and figured I should grab it as well.
Around February of 2023 I popped a few Triple Sunshine & SSDD. Triple Sunshine A was my favorite and has some presence of TK clearly shining through. Not an exact replica, but clearly the same type of herb.
I grew it out a few times (TS-A) and it was really the most appealing smoke that I was growing. A fair amount of people locally sampled it and all seemed to really like it too. I also really value the high calyx to leaf ratio and other superficial traits about it. I have a few reviews of the flower in the B thread and my old SSDD thread I believe.
Sometime in November 2023 after my state legalized a friend on here who shall remain nameless for the sake of anonymity offered me a selection of clones to try out and TK was one of the clones. It was hands down my favorite of the 6 clones that I was sent to my surprise. Sometime during or after my 2nd run of the TK I decided to order some TK S1s from nspecta because of how much I liked both the TK and the TS. I wanted to see if anything as good as or superior to the clone could be found in the seeds and at what frequency. My thinking was it may put less pressure on me to keep mothers if the S1s or 5150 are close enough.
For me it’s just a great uplifting / euphoric focus boost high that kicks in very fast. Usually only takes me 2-3 hits to get where I want to be. Pretty much exactly I was seeking out when searching through OG crosses. Attractive calyx to leaf ratio, but in my opinion the Triple Sunshine seems superior there. I hesitate to really compare it to anything because I’m not confident that I’ve really “dialed it in” having only run it a few times. Already it seems like the plants in coco have a different and stronger smell than my soil-less plants did.
As I said a few posts up, I’m going to take a short break from popping TK / TS beans next round just for variety sake, but I do plan on keeping a mom of the TS / TK for the foreseeable future.
Wow thank you so much for the rundown! I really like understanding why certain cultivars or strains are chosen by growers for their head stash.
I was mistaken, it’s the loompa’s headband cross from csi/nspecta I have. I’ll definitely pop these soon! The picture from the CSI plant guide looks phenomenal.
Thanks for everything. This whole thread is a constant joy to follow.
Yeah, I really like the Triple Sunshine A… I think I’m going to flower that one again in the bigger SIP. I think @Vagabond_Windy, @nube and @Greasy all got to try that one too, to pretty positive reviews. Also, my girl’s sister tried it and really liked that one, though it was almost too strong for her, as she’s a novice smoker. I’ve been sampling it more and more recently and it doesn’t build much of a tolerance, which is another positive. It sure does look pretty in the bag/jar too, if that means anything to you.
I’m really interested to see what you find in the CSI S1 TK stuff… it seems a few people have grown them out now, but has anyone done a direct comparison to the TK clone from FJ, or elsewhere?
Not yet that I’ve seen. Syzygy will be the first with cut and the s1’s and such. Definitely gotta a few that look very much like her over there.
Cool, I’m glad to hear that it was a worthwhile run! Your large plants looked great last round, and I’m sure a big sip would turn out fantastic as well! One the highly valued traits about the plant for myself is how well it performs in a small pot with minimal veg.
Awesome - if any happen to be reading this and want to post their thoughts it would be fun to read. Any negatives or dislikes don’t bother me, we all have different preferences and all that. Would be of benefit for others who have some of the pollen chucks as well.
Yeah, that is kind of nice for me from the hobbyist photography perspective. Not essential or anything, but for overlapping hobbies it’s valued. More fun taking shots of stuff that looks appealing or unique in some way.
When I look in the tent it’s really difficult to tell the plants apart at first glance. Currently the most interesting looking plant from seed this round seems to be the 5150 TK x TK #1.
Ya they all look and smell quite similar at this point. We’ll see in a few weeks.
5150 x TK
TK x Triple Sunshine
TK
TK & TS
Triple Sunshine is the only plant in the tent with any stem frost currently. Seems to branch out a bit more from the main stem as well with the same type of lanky stems as the TK.
Your plants look so so good @syzygy I love to come in and check them out in the thread! Beautiful beautiful beautiful plants my friend!!
Appreciate the kind words!
So far I’m liking the jacks / coco setup and haven’t run into any serious issues as of yet. Having the magnetic stirrer made all the difference in the world for me - I still have a flask of part A mixing from yesterday. Excited to see the differences (if any) between Trip Sun & TK grown in soil vs coco come mid-late flower.
Also I started 4 of each - SSDD , GSC x SSDD, GG4 x SSDD. Assuming a few don’t make it, there will more time to decide what to use as a replacement. One of the SSDD seeds was tiny and I’ll be very surprised if it’s viable.
We’re on day 27 of flowering I think. Going to re-post to the CSI thread.
5150 TK x TK 1
5150 TK x TK 2
5150 TK x TK 3
TK S1 #2
TK S1 #3
Triangle Kush (FJ)
Looking very nice over there
Thanks & ya I’m happy with how they look for my first run with coco, they’re doing better than I expected they would. The worst looking plants are the (rootbound) plants left in soil, but they still look acceptable and should make it to the finish hopefully.
Triple Sunshine (tk x ssdd) Week 4
100% of the seeds popped open and either came up or are beginning to. I can still screw things up but I’m consistently impressed with how reliably viable Bodhi’s seeds seem to be.
And some Triple Sunshine outside shots. Finally starting to form flowers.
Mr TK over here haha! Can’t blame you, TK is one of my favorites from the clones I’ve grown alongside Tahoe and Lavender Jack. Just as tasty as tahoe but with a more functional (if not overdone) hybrid high… tahoe has evening vibes. All are lookin great. Bet you’ll find some nice plants in the SSDD crosses - the GG4 one is well regarded if you don’t have hermie issues.
Yeah, should be fun comparing them all to each other.
I kept attempting a response to this part and decided I better not because of the way things in text can come across the wrong way. Lav jack sure was a good smelling and pretty plant though.
Tahoe was on my initial list of cuttings but timing issues with rooting & weather prompted us to go with an other option. Hearing that it’s like an evening TK makes me appreciative that I ended up with the TK. Tahoe still sounds and looks great though - the pictures IAY posted in his thread about a week ago looked fantastic. I’m loving the more functional daytime flower at the moment.
I grew out 1 female of that cross in the past and it was pretty good. I remember it having night time / ssdd-like effects. Not nearly as strong, frosty or loud as my Space Monkey keeper but it had chunkier buds that were much more dense. Neither my Space Monkey keeper nor the 1 GG4 x SSDD female had any intersex issues, but I do know there is a potential with gg4 / gsc crosses and ssdd F1s. Not making seeds so it won’t be a big deal if there are problems.
gg4 x ssdd
Haha yeah the Lavender Jack seems to be divisive. It works really well for me as a functional daytime fun strain, or an evening non-lazy strain without heart thumping sativa qualities. I like it more than blue dream for that purpose as the blue dream has a heavier head feel.
Tahoe is really nice, I wasn’t planning on keeping it, but it ended up surpassing irene & bubba for a really nice evening high. It also is a much easier plant to grow / maintain than TK, it’s a lot less viney. I hear you on the nice daytime stuff - I’ll vape TK in the evening and be able to do something besides TV and sleep.
The SSDD male really does seem to be the nighttime blanket high haha. I’m looking forward to growing some crosses of it - have only grown a blue sunshine plant and I really liked that one.
Gawd, those last three pics make me so envious. That’s all I wanna do: grow plants outside and hang with a bunch of dogs haha.
Plants look good!
I don’t get it. The sample I tried was good weed!
I think people just wanna be divided or something, I dunno… haha. If you like it, you like it, doesn’t matter what other people think.
Haha yeah that was my impression - super stinky, tasty, and an enjoyable anytime high. First time I toked it I went and starting playing a new game I’d been wanting to but never had the motivation to start. Everyone reacts differently though.
