- syzygy's journal - the clown show

I see them misidentifying water scale as powdery mildew in a different thread. That’s eye-roll worthy!!! Happens all the time.

Agreed!

On the other hand - I saw a lot of people are annoyed about high photo count posts, which I found strange. I get more annoyed by the majority of the people on this site not even growing Cannabis and simply trying to scoop up free stuff or build a ‘rep’.

When sifting through meaningless small-talk and memes, any pictures of plants posted is the last thing I’d complain about on OG haha… Making me think I should just buy an external hard drive and offline log future grows like in the past though.

The mark of a fool!

Haha it really makes a lot more sense to me why some of the cures for PM that people promote “work”. I’ve seen the transpiration / water scale thing in my tents before but nothing as bright white as some parts of my outdoor plants. Still doesn’t have the same look as PM even on those areas.

The photos are the best part. You’re growing all the stuff that I either have grown (Devil’s Hashplant) or want to grow (TK x 5150 and TK). The more pictures the better!!

I personally love looking at ALL of the photos that most people post. I’m not a big talker, but I am a major stalker :sunglasses:(I also like posting my own photos)
I am loving your TK

Cross-post from my thread :metal:t2:

It’s that time! Let’s have a smoke report…

Triple Sunshine x Sunshine Daydream Pheno #1 Original breeder of both strains: Bodhi. Cross done by @syzygy and grown by me.

Veg Time - roughly 40 days(above ground 4/7, flipped 5/17)

Flower Time - 65 days

Pot Size - 15 gallon fabric

Yield - roughly 235grams

Aroma:

This has been in jars for 4 weeks now. Gorilla glue/og -like. Pine, chemical adhesive, semi sweet gas/earth. What I would call OG type terpenes with some sweet undertones. Maybe some sweet/sour fruit like raspberry there on the nose too.
Ground aroma: much more intense citrus(orange) peel, sweet/sour tamarind/raspberry, pine, sour gas smells. A very very pleasant and strong smell this way.

Flavor:

Inhale: semi sweet citrus peel, pine, pungent gas/adhesive.
Exhale: a sweet/sugary sort of pine.
It has one of those ‘potent’ tastes. Reminds me just slightly of goji og. It is very very smooth and the flavors all roll over you at once. It is very pleasant and leaves a really nice hash/pine/mild fruit smell after smoked. Everyone that has tried it has commented on how “good” it tastes but haven’t given me too many other descriptions. It has pleased folks who enjoy sweet types and gassy types, so I’d say it blends the two really well.

Density:

Solid nugs all the way down! Absolutely zero complaints here. Even finishing in the high 80s, nugs came out very solid. Good calyx to leaf ratio and it was a breeze to trim. Ended up with probably 10-15 grams of what I could consider larf. So almost nothing from 15 gallons of soil. Pretty nice. I’d think it would only get better with slightly cooler temps and maybe taken to 10 weeks. Like I said…no complaints at all here. Dry and cure went pretty perfectly so that helps too.

Effect:

I have been really trying to nail down the effect. It’s broad and complete. It’s very similar to OG’s I’ve had but has just a touch more lazy body stone and a tiny bit less mental stone. It’s an alert high. This is potent weed but I’d call the effects pretty hybrid. I’d even go so far to say it’s 50/50 or 60/40 indica leaning if I had to classify it that way. It relaxes muscles and brings about a sense of calm while also making you more alert if that makes any sense. I would call it more chill than giggly. It is really easy to smoke all day and also easy to smoke a few bowls and take a nap. I’d call it good anytime weed. This stuff makes it very easy to kill 2.5-3 hours without even noticing. Effect is long lasting, I’d say 3 hours-3.5 hours but the body relaxing lasts for a few hours after that. Everyone that has tried it has been visibly high after a few hits and have all enjoyed it a lot. It’s really good weed.

Growth Patterns:

Very very easy to grow. It seems to be a TS/tk leaning pheno. It grows like an OG but not quite so viney. The SSDD seems to add stability to what would seem to be floppy branches otherwise. It swells a lot from week 7-9 and is extremely ‘nuggy’. The buds themselves don’t grow too many leaves. It grows a few fans but it they don’t really cover bud sites. It ended up being easy to prune and trim during its life. It responds really really well to training and was very vigorous in veg. Great calyx/leaf ratio, great trichome coverage. I’d likely recommend folks take this pheno 10 weeks but it can be cut at 9 weeks without worry. I’d say it’s a medium-medium high yielder. I’ve seen heavier yielding plants but the no larf aspect on this pheno is super nice. Stretch is roughly 2.75-3x and it seems to stretch through week 4 of flower. Trichomes begin to set in around day 15 and buds begin to swell up after day 35 and especially after day 50. Topping twice encourages a more even canopy. It can be fed pretty intensely and has given me zero issues as far as intersex issues or mold issues. It can take a lot. I’d call it a really, really good commercial or sharable cut.

Overall:

Incredibly solid. Incredibly potent, smelly, smooth tasty weed. It’s able to be cut at 63 days and has a pretty manageable og structure. It’s very good weed, though slightly too hybrid for my tastes. Not to say I don’t love smoking it, but for some reason, 50/50ish type highs don’t give me personally all the mental effects I like. It’s really good work weed, good social weed, good sharing herb and easy growing. I’d say it is up there with some of the best og type weed I’ve tried. I’m curious to see if taking it 10 weeks ramps up the mental aspects of it. If it does I may come back and amend this. I’m very happy with it. I would give it a solid A overall. It’s hard to complain about anything other than my own personal preferences, which tells me the cannabis itself is very, very good. I’m really happy to have two more of these in the flower tent and I’ll continue to see how it responds to different feeds and training.

Those buds look great - you did a really good job growing them and documenting the process as well! Thanked you in your thread but will do it again here too.

Wanted to grab some Week 6 (day 42) shots. Just got most of the plants staked up as they were doing the lean.

Some thoughts

I may cull the TK S1 #3 and 5150 #2 soil plants - they are taking up space and doing really poorly. Any space gained would benefit the other plants (and me).

TK x TS looks extremely good in person. Very large, frosty, and stinky buds on a TK frame - only one in the group that doesn’t need staking yet. 5150 x TK #3 looks very similar, just not as good (yet?).

TK S1 #2 looks quite good as well - I may want to keep this and try running it again.

Sitting in the tent area is quite nauseating with all the smells at this point - I love it…

Going to repost the pictures elsewhere.

5150 TK x TK #2 - couldn’t get a better shot. Plant is unhealthy, overgrown (1gal pot, 4’ tall) and in a difficult spot.

5150 TK x TK #3 - looks a lot like the TK x TS

Had to cut off the main branch of the outdoor TK. Looked like the branch was scraped or split open with sap exuding from it. I washed off the sap with a hose and an hour later it was completely covered in bugs.

Looked like some kind of pith necrosis after I cut down the branch. One location on the stem (top left) seemed open at the petiole as if a borer could have been present. Will keep an eye on the rest of the plant in case it’s some kind of fungal / bacterial disease. Anyone seen this before I’m interested just for curiosity sake.

Kinda looks like fusarium, stem rot. Is it really humid or something? Couldve just been successive bug damage tho

I was thinking stem rot, too, except for the fact that syzygy mentioned sap seeping out and bugs seemingly being super-attracted to that portion of the plant. I don’t know enough about stem rot to know if those are things that happen when it, uh, happens haha, but I feel like sap wouldn’t be seeping out if it was stem rot.

I dunno. Kinda sucks, though.

Maybe that part of the stem got damaged in that storm he had awhile back? Just enough to let the sap start coming out and just progressed from there? That’s about all I got for ideas. Where’s @George at

Storm breaks the branch, sap exuding from the wound, bugs eating sap? icon_e_confused|nullxnull Don’t think it’s stem rot anyway. 5 likes for the tag ejem|nullxnull, need to recover my rep … frech|nullxnull

I have seen something similar. At the time, I thought it was from a branch rubbing against the trunk during a windy weather event. There was a branch rubbing, but I’m just guessing.

Doesn’t look like stem borer damage, but it’s always fun to jam a high E string up there and feeling a satisfying pop!

Yeah it has been very humid lately. What I’m calling pith necrosis did not go all the way down to the main stem. Where I cut the stem it looked OK. Didn’t get a clean cut as the pruning shears snapped cutting the stem haha.

I think it was sap at least… Was kind of rushing and pressed for time and impulsively washed it off when I saw it - came back shortly after and decided to just chop that branch off. This was a few days ago.

Don’t care - I have more than enough herb even if nothing outside makes it.

Maybe, but this wound seemed fresh.

Maybe not, the dark pith looked kind of weird to me. Have you seen that before? I’ve seen pith necrosis on tomatoes before but first time seeing it on cannabis.

Could be… Maybe it got slammed up against another branch or the tomato cage. Maybe there was an animal near or in the plant and my dog jumped up on it even.

Haha, If I still had it I would try. I got rid of it a few days ago.

I think you may be right, this is how stem rot looks, I didn’t put enough attention in your pic… beer3|nullxnull

Eurasian Hemp Borer. Little bit of sawdust is its tell. They drill right in at the junction , like mentioned.

Yeah, I wasn’t able to identify any sawdust. Do you you see sawdust in those pictures? I’ll do a more thorough examination when it stops raining here. That dark pith was pretty solid when I tried poking it with the pruning sheers. The gummy sap-like substance on the exterior of the branch did look like it could be some form of processed pith to me, but it was more slimy than anything.

I know the cut isn’t a clean cut, but the pith does look acceptable under where I cut it. I also see the minor-thrip damage on the leaves too.

Hi syzygy. I’ve got a lovely Triple Sunshine f2 going outside next to a TK S1 from @dinopartychucks.

The TK S1 is on the left, the Triple Sunshine f2 is on the right.

The TripSun has been a pleasure to grow. Later than Baba Kush and Celestial Citron to start flowering, but is already frosting up some on the bud sites. Looking forward to harvest.

Thanks for sharing your work.

Yeah, I think it’s interesting and the speculation is fun. All the flowers smell great so it’s nice to have them around for that as well. The Lav Jack has such an attractive aroma at this stage…

VN is starting to color up quite a bit and is starting to look interesting.

Awesome, thanks for trying them out and posting some shots. I think I told you this on the other site but I like the support you have in place prior to flowering them out - shows good planning as opposed to my mess haha.

Wonder what TK cutting that is - in any case should be fun to explore. Both plants look very healthy and happy! Those main stems look massive.

If I grow outside again next year I’ll make a horizontal plant structure kind of similar to what you’re doing using EMT conduit. I know I always say this but soon enough I’ll go back there and branches will be snapped in half… I really should have supported them.

The new main branch on the TK was doing a heavy lean into the fence after the rain last night. This one needs support as well. The Trip Sun was leaning as well quite a bit but has mostly corrected itself.
