Full plant shots are very hard with my lens in the small area that I’m in. I can take a plant outside prior to harvest to get one (I’m not putting it back in the grow area after I do that) though… Otherwise I can do a low quality phone shot and get the full plant / pot in the picture.

Which plant did you want a full shot of? The TK mom? Tk S1?

Also, I grew the Kali Mist years ago in either 3 GAL pots or those 2 GAL poly bags I believe. Pretty sure it was all 3 GAL nursery pots.

Those shots look so nice man i just wanna put a body on the pretty face lol trying to stare at that booty if ya know what i mean haha

Phone shot would do it… if its too much trouble dont bother bro

Ya I can get full plant shots pre-harvest on most things. It’s probably going to be too annoying to take everything outside though. I can probably push some of the plants against the wall to pull it off - but that will result in lower quality pictures.

Thankfully I can play as guinea pig for ya. The MG cross I have in the three gallon seems to finishing somewhat according to schedule. In my experience those types do have a tendency to throw white pistils forever but there are other pretty obvious finishing features. Swelling, trichomes, drink rates, etc. Basically everything other than pistils. Hah. And even then, if you time the feed decently, they should finish up alright. I’m sure you’ll smash it.

Hmm. Your TS shots look so good. I’ll take this next round of pheno #1(TS x SSDD) to day 70-72 and see if it fades at all. not that that means all that much, but still. I’m curious.

I did notice that these plants grown with jacks are fading significantly less than the organic TS plants I’ve grown in the past. Definitely not a cool temperature thing as the stuff I grew last summer had mostly purple leaves come harvest time…

Here are some quick side by sides for you @bigLblazed

5150 TK #1 next to 5150 TK #3

TK S1 #2 next to TK

TKxTS next to TS

The largest flower in the tent is the TKxTS. The tallest plant in the tent is one of the TS cuttings (not pictured).

Nice bro, these all clones… or? How long were they vegged for?

Yeah yeah yeah… Whatever… “Flame emoji” @Holyangel . Don’t think I don’t notice that shit haha. I’m paying attention. I’m always paying attention

They rooted in rapid rooters - Then I put them in 3-4" pots and took these pictures, a week later they were carefully transplanted into 1QT pots and flipped.

They look pretty done to me. Are you not feeling like busting out the macro lens?

Yep.

What does he think of the smoke, though? Have you tried it?

:joy::joy::joy: Alright… My bad.

Good point, I’ll get some pictures tonight and then probably pull tomorrow morning based on what I see. I know there are some patches of pure amber on some of the buds.

I don’t remember what he told me but I know he likes it enough to keep growing it. Yes, I have tried it. I remember thinking it was deceptively potent and it lasted 4~ hours or so. Buds looked real scraggly and didn’t taste like anything special. Zero bag appeal and didn’t really form traditional ‘nugs’. I think someone posted a picture of some Malawi Gold in someones thread (holy?) and it looked very similar.

Another grower friend also sampled it and said it wasn’t as good as what I grow. They weren’t preconditioned to account for the differences between landraces and refined hybrids for what it’s worth. I trust my reaction to stuff more and will say it was definitely potent and long lasting.

Wasn’t my favorite type of bud personally - was very cerebral for sure. I suggested he pollinate a TK plant if he gets stuck with males - not sure if he will or not though.

I figured I’d try once more for the final time.

Those TK macro shots make my head hurt haha.

It would be cool to somehow puncture the trichome with a fine needle and capture the terp oozing.

Is that possible @JoeCrowe, seems something you might have tried/done in the past.

What time frame does your MG crosses finishing spectrum?
I’m very interested what you hit the MG with or was it the other way around.

One of my side projects is a Malawi Gold x Dream Drifter cross for fun.

I think it has some appeal. Although its definitely different looking than a traditional nug.

Yea it’s a unique type of smoke. Effects are strong like espresso. Speedy, no sluggishness after. I’d say easily 3 hr for duration of effects.

It would be very interesting to see those MG x TK if they are ever done.

well it’s worth pointing out that we’re not necessarily talking about the same bud here. The flower I was given looked nothing like the picture you posted, they looked very similar to the buds posted by @Tejas in holy’s thread part 1

Were your MG buds direct from RSC, fgens, or crosses?

The MG seeds were from Tejas. He did a repro of TLT’s MG. I believe they are still F1s.

To me they look similar, only a different lady and possibly an older cured bud. My pick was from right after drying before jarring up.

Oh I didn’t intend for that to sound like I actually made it. It’s buddertons (m. madness x nh) x MG. Finish time is anywhere between 16-22 weeks. Ended up with two phenos. Flowered one of them. It’s somewhere around 100 days right now.

Back before I tossed everything I had just finished a Moontang(chem 91 x snow lotus) x MG cross I was really excited about but those seeds got chucked. Literally.

Huh. It allows more than one upload now. Late to the party! Malawi gold on top, (mm x nh)x mg on bottom. I’ve been trying to remember where I got the MG I had in 2014-16 but I cannot right now. Will find a dry shot later today

Edit: pretty positive it was from Ace. 94% sure.
And a couple dried shots and my hand. Pretty sure I’m a better grower now so hopefully next round looks better. I’m sure yours will look nice. October 2015.

Ahh OK, so maybe they are a bit more refined? Either way your buds look better than the buds I got in a sandwich bag. I’d still argue neither have “bag appeal” - in that if you put them in a clear mylar bag at a dispensary they would not sell based on looks alone. Not making a judgement based off of that, just supporting my bag appeal comment.

The foxtail part looks similar I guess yeah. How long did you take yours? I’m thinking about finding females and doing 12/12 right when I see roots to try to keep it manageable in my low ceiling tent. Did you have any issues with height? My friend seemed to think the Laos was significantly more unruly / vertical growing so that gives me hope at least…

It seems like it bugs out if you do more than a few pictures - forcing you to go back to 1 at a time or resize your images. I noticed after about 10 uncompressed JPEG uploads it starts giving me errors and then I have to manually resize again.

Steady killing it man that’s some beautiful bud getting caught back up around here

The MG was from TLT.

I’ve run into this too. I’ve found if you refresh the page, while you’re posting, it saves your post, and it will allow you to upload ten or so more images before starting to give the resize/megapixel limit error again.

I may pop my ACE Malawi if you’re going to grow some… I’m about 2-3 months from popping any new seeds though.

Probably a good idea, I’ve seen grows of Malawi that are just 12/12 from seed and they still come out pretty large. I think there’s some posts on ICMAG, but I’d have to dig them out.

It sucks that consumers have been conditioned to want sparkly, over trimmed, nugs… but guess that leaves more good herb for the smokers who really care!
