Tents full of happiness and love ft. Bodhi and friends

Is there any way to differentiate which males are used in the HP crosses? IE would 2015 Jungle Spice or Secret Chief be a derivative of the Deadly G males or current? Was wondering also if maybe this is a reason Copa is bundling Secret Chief f2s with his orders? Thanks also for the tips on spotting the 88g13hp leaning phenos, very helpful!

There’s probably cheaper versions too, I find the screen has to be cleaned after running about 2 pounds through it.

Sounds like an old porn mag

Good question. I know he’s been using the current iteration for quite awhile, but I’ll defer to those more knowledgable on the subject. I don’t think there were too many ‘deadly g’ crosses.

I think there were only a couple dozen HP crosses made with the Deadly G male, and neither Jungle Spice nor Secret Chief were from that male. I can’t say why another breeder is using F2 of bodhi’s currently or recently available (and easily remade) lines as enticement to sell their own seeds. In the corporate world, without proof of permission that’d be considered trademark infringement. However, in the canna world, it’s just standard operating procedure.

What I can say is that bodhi directly asked me in email not to remake or preserve any of his 88g13hp crosses because (and this is important) he said they can all easily be remade. I posted that here and elsewhere last year. I’m pretty sure he’s still using the SFV clone because we have Sun Ra that was recently re-released. I don’t know why he’d ask me to not do it but then give permission to somebody else, but I guess it’s possible. If that was the case, no big deal. Either way, I’m happy to oblige him, as it’s a matter of personal honor for me to never impact him financially by publicly giving away seeds he is or plans on selling. Also, I have no profit motive to do so since I don’t sell anything I make. Ever.

Also @minitiger @Vagabond_Windy nah, not you guys. I’m referring to somebody from another site who listed grand pronoucements about certain bodhi males and his experiences with them, then a month or two later completely contradicted himself by saying he found forever keepers from one of the lines using a male he previously trashed.

Also, trim bins for the win!

haha you know why :money_mouth_face:

It’s almost criminal how much of Bodhi’s work has spawned all these other breeders. I see so many people using his crosses… Green Bodhi, Night Owl, Copa, MMS, all of these dudes just tryin to make a buck. Sure, some have worked the lines, I guess. I dunno… just seems weird all these people trying to capitalize off one guys work. Surely you guys can be more creative than to work B’s lines into to something else. Go collect unique shit like B did… end rant!

i found over on RIU, post #47,268 on 10/30/19 by @nube , the exact quote from Bodhi’s mouth, of his wishes regarding working with his strains:

bodhi said:
“these are my feelings on seed creation

please make hybrids with any of my stuff, please create more seeds to find your special expression, go deeper, or take things in new directions. trade, gift, even sell* but find your flow and niche, these are unfinished works of art we all work on as a community.

i know we live in a group reality but not everybody sees it the same way so heres my guidelines for maximum respect and co-creational harmony:

testers: please wait till they are released to breed with incase they are not up to par, we want to create novelty not entropy.

hybrids for personal use or for sale: yes please!

fgens of dead lines: yes please, thank you for your time and energy to allow these cultivars new life, i can also possibly provide old special lines to reproduce if theres something needed and not available.

(imho, THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH IS MOST RELEVANT Re F2-ing Bodhi’s work):

fgens current lines: personal/friends/family… sure, but not for general distribution . i would prefer that you focus on lines that need reproduction over things that are currently stocked by bodhi seeds. *current fgens for profit is ok if you have isolated or line bred your own unique expression of a line with documentation. (bare min 2 generations).

landrace/heirloom/neirika…. open pollinations of nierika and landrace or heirloom releases are always welcome, its up to you to keep the vibe alive and to insure maximum geographical and environmental expressions for the future.“

I know my rant kinda comes off as bitching, and thats really not my intention. I think Bodhi posted that info on OG first, maybe in one of his only post on OG, haha. I do love seeing people work with B’s lines, and I don’t mean to discourage that. But, I think people take advantage of B’s generosity sometimes. Like in the Secret Chief example above… why entice people to buy your packs with a line that B could reproduce? I get they’re freebies, but kind on the line imho. Sure, F2 or cross whatever you want, but don’t try and make any money off of it. That’s really where I see the issue, that people see older/rarer Bodhi lines, but the only way to get them is with purchase of other seeds. Make seeds, trade with people, find your own unique shit, I just don’t get all the hype of everyone trying to make money off of seeds, which are some of the easiest things in the world to make. I love F2ing Bodhi’s lines, but you don’t see me out there selling any.

I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt because the pack was labeled “Secret Chief preservation project 2020”, but ya that was my suspicion as a mere consumer who is not in the know. Oh well, the more community driven preservation projects that take place the more it will chip away at the aura of exclusivity they are offering.

I also think it’s definitely gone beyond attracting and enticing people to buy their genetics as well. Their genetics are essentially the unwanted freebies that people are buying only so that they can get the Bodhi F2s as “freebies”. Once I considered buying some of the (Goji) F2s from one of those breeders on GLG and decided against it and instead just purchased a different Bodhi pack for nearly the same price. I’m confident I made the right choice.

On another more positive note; that Snow lotus pheno looks and sounds really appealing! I haven’t personally had much luck yet with the few snow lotus crosses that I’ve tried when it comes to terpene strength(compared to wookie15), but the effects often really resonate with me.

Yeah, my girl brought in the mail today and handed me an envelope that was obviously seeds (obvious to me haha, positive the mailman didn’t know what the fuck they were). I was like,”What is this? I didn’t order any seeds… (for once haha).” Looked at the return address and it was from @Sebring (thank you!), the NL5 repro seeds from @PlantShepherd (thank you!) and @nube’s Cheech Wizard f2’s (thank you!) that I signed up for a while ago.

But there was also a pack of Dragon’s Blood Hashplant seeds in it, which I thought were still readily available and that I definitely didn’t sign up for. I didn’t even know about that thread until after I saw that pack. Looked around, I guess somebody here on OG f2’d them? I’m not sure what to make of that. But Bodhi’s original f1 cross is still very much for sale all over the place, so… I dunno.

haha surprise seeds are always good! Especially the community ones

Yeah, I think those Dragonblood HP seeds were from a pack that was donated awhile ago? I don’t know the full details… But, I’ll admit that I kinda fucked up when I was first F2ing seeds and made a bunch of F2s of Black Triangle and donated them to Sebring, without realizing (or really thinking ahead, on my part) that Bodhi may re-make the line. It wasn’t my intention to take from Bodhi’s plate, of course, but the more I reflected on it, I felt really bad about it. Especially after he re-released Black Triangle. I guess in my excitement to share, I overlooked what harm it could do. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m still F2ing every Bodhi pack I can, but will limit my F2 sharing to my friends, or trades with people for other Bodhi lines. We can all learn from mistakes…

MOTR took them to f2 a year or more ago. There was some discussion about it but if my memory is correct bodhi gave his blessing on those. These in the boxes now are f3. I don’t think he had a bleeder so it’s not even in the same direction bodhi took it in his f4.

You are most welcome man! Hope the seeds do well for you! :v:

Speaking of F2s, I’m getting good development on the Silver Lotus seeds.

Early bud shot of Silver Lotus

The stem turned almost dark purple overnight, most of the Snow Lotus crosses get that purpling in the stem. Getting a similar scent from this Silver Lotus, smells very similar to the Snow Lotus dominate Tranquil Elephantizer that I just grew. I think Bodhi described it as black currant. I’ve never smelled black currant, but would expect it to have a berry smell, which seems fitting. There’s also something else in the resin that I’m smelling though, probably whatever SSH smells like. I’ve heard anywhere from catpiss to incense, so I don’t really know. I’d love to find a cut of SSH and grow it out one day.

The Lemon Party FS stretched out more than I though she would at first, almost up there with the silver lotus. Glad I topped her.

Blueberry is on the right there. Hit a couple of branch with Silver Lotus pollen, but not signs of pollination yet. I’m going to attempt a few more times.

Black currant and cassis are supposed to be very similar. I don’t know if you’re a big Kir Royale drinker (for some reason, I’m thinking no… haha), but if you’ve ever had one, then you’ve had cassis.

Plants look good! Fingers crossed on the Silver Lotus/Blueberry pollination. That just sounds like a good idea.

yeah… I had to google all that stuff, haha. the Kir Royale sounds pretty good. I’m not a big cocktail guy, but every now and then… makes me want to try one just so I know what blackcurrant smells like, haha.

Yeah I’m really hoping the Blueberry cross works out. I just hit her again with some pollen from the males that are barely hanging on up in the cold garage. Fingers crossed.

Speaking of the Blueberry, holy shit, it is some scraggly looking bud, but man the smell and most importantly, the high from it is awesome! I’ve only vaped it once, but was blown away! I always used to hear DJ talk about how he bred plants for how they made him feel, and kinda thought it was a bunch of BS, but I get this incredible good feeling high from this herb. Like, it makes my body feel good, not overly euphoric, just good, full of life. The headspace is incredibly happy and positive, like you could probably smoke it when you’re having a shit day and it’d turn it right around. So maybe there’s something to just really attuning your body and mind to how certain plants make you feel and selecting from there… I know Bodhi asked DJ how he used psychedelics to help him breed, and now I can see how a low dose of mushrooms could really help your mind and body tune into to how these plants actually make you feel.

Yeah thats been my experience with DJ strains
too, the breeders choice mix 2 blueberry female I ran has a similar feel to it. Happy easygoing weed that is nice and functional too.

For sure. I’ve always liked Blueberry and really pretty much anything crossed to it, even things like Blueberry Headband or Blue Diesel or whatever. I feel like you can always tell what the Blueberry’s bringing in any cross, seems to take the edge off of everything.

I’ve never grown any of DJ Short’s gear, but I always appreciate his posts and articles. If nothing else, at least the man can write coherent and even interesting sentences that’re punctuated properly and shit haha; that’s pretty rare with most “weed writers.”

I dunno if you’ve ever read this, but here’s an interesting profile of DJ Short that was on Grantland, back when Grantland still existed: » The Willy Wonka of Pot

There’s also a great series of articles about Paul Thomas Anderson there, if you like Paul Thomas Anderson haha. And a lot of great articles about a lot of stuff. I wish that site hadn’t folded…

It’s a “girl drink” haha. Specifically, like, Eastern European or maybe just “new money” girls. All it is is champagne and cassis. You could probably just ask a bartender for a tiny taste of cassis next time you’re out. I’d drink straight cassis before I drank a Kir Royale haha, if for no other reason than I don’t want anybody to see me drinking one haha!

DJ Short has earned my respect because he breeds for the Effects, not bag appeal, flavor, yield, etc. His gear (though priced high for MY budget,) has awesome, unique effects. Lots of people don’t give his stuff a chance “because it doesn’t smell like Blueberries anymore.” True, but the Effects keep me coming back for more.

Flavor lasts just a few Seconds, but a good High lasts Hours. After medicating for 35+ years, the high effects is all i judge strains by now.

Here’s a GREAT article written by DJ talking about the strains of the 70’s and 80’s that influenced him. Long, detailed but fascinating reading!

I was 16 in 1984 so i got to enjoy a few of these fun (and sometimes weird strong paranoia-inducing) Sativas for years, before we ever even heard of or got any “Indicas”.

Awesome, thanks for all the reading materials guys, good to read before bed :+1:

It’s refreshing to smoke some weed that just isn’t all about potency. It’s just enjoyable. And good to hear others experience is similar.

haha, I’ll make my gf order it… she’s half Eastern European, but def not “new money”, haha, that’d be too rich for my taste.
