Tents full of happiness and love ft. Bodhi and friends

I use that same humidifier in my room. Well, that’s one of the five, anyway. You don’t think putting it right in the tent like that, the outtake fan sucks it all out before it has a chance to do its thing?

Plants look good! I like how compact and stout they are.

Yeah it does suck out most of the humidity, even with the humidifier running on max. I have this 3x3 in a laundry room so I can shut the door and it brings up the humidity, since it’s trapped in the smaller room, but also brings up the temp. I’m going to get one of those Controller 67 things for my smaller AC infinity 4 inch fan, so I can program the fan to come on once a certain temp or humidity level is reached. That way the extraction fan doesn’t have to run all the time and suck out most of the humidity. Then I also won’t have to run the humidifier as much, and could put it on a cycle timer. Right now if I leave the door cracked, temps get up to about 78f and humidity is right around 75%rh, so falling within the VPD range that cannabis likes. Just a pain I gotta remember to leave the door cracked.

It’s much nicer in the 4x4 tent having it more out in the open and having the AC Infinity controller already on that extraction fan. I discovered I was really running my extraction fan more than necessary with LEDs… the plants really seem to like temps in high 70s/low 80s with higher humidity, and I was running my fan all the time and it would suck all the heat and humidity out. Now I’ve got it programmed so the fan cuts on to a pre-programmed speed if the temp gets over 83f, or the humidity level gets about 75%, so it’s not just constantly sucking air through the tent. The plants seem happy this way, and I’m not struggling to keep the humidity up…

The TER F2s filled up the space in no time. I actually flipped them on Oct 13th, only one has shown sex so far as a dude, the one in the front right corner. Gigantic fans leaves on the one in the middle – bigger than my hand! Crazy growth for such small bags, they’re in half gallons. Not sure if that’s a Snow Lotus or 88g13hp trait. I guess that Bodhi stopped using the ‘deadly g’ pheno because it dominated everything? Hopefully a different range of phenos happening here in the F2s.

The Archive 4 x 4 is doing it’s thing… mulched everything under and put the covers on. Gnats are getting under control, but still may need to pick up some predator bugs, we’ll see. Apparently there is a local place I can get beneficial insects, so that’s cool. Installing screen tomorrow and will try to get that filled up and then flip!

Front Right - GG#4
Back Left - T-1000
Back Right - RudeBoi OG #7

Looks good, though. What’s the deal with the covers? Why do they recommend doing that?

Looking good mate, just got through the thread. Good luck with the flip :v:t4:

The covers are supposed to simulate a mulch layer on the surface of the soil. I’m hoping that they’ll speed up the composting process and help keep some of the worms in the boxes. They also help the keep the top layer from drying out so much. Also, hopefully they’ll help cut down on those damn flying gnats, although the Gnatrol is starting to knock down their numbers. We’ll see how they work out, first time trying them out.

@FattyRoots - Thanks for tagging along! I’ve been keeping an eye on your vinegar making process and adventures in South America, looks dope! Keep doing your thing! Cool to see others’ interest outside of cannabis… not to say I don’t love checking out your outdoor flowers

@iamyou_youareme your plants are looking great!. Waiting so see how the covers work out.

But… Didn’t… Didn’t you actually mulch already? Haha! What do you need to “simulate” a mulch layer for? You’ve already mulched!

I’m just fucking around. I don’t really get it, though. Are those things made of mesh or some kind of breathable fabric? I tried to see, but it was hard to tell from the pics.

Haha yeah, I guess I’m thinking I had more of a cover crop going, now I’m trying to smother that and compost all that crimson clover, to feed the microbes :leaves:

Yeah, they’re pretty breathable. Some sort of woven nylon or something. Hopefully they’re heavy enough to smother what’s left growing beneath. Guess I’ll find out.

The earthboxes have a plastic cover. It is actually to hold moisture in. As water evaporates, It condenses on the plastic cover, then precipitates back down into the soil. Like a mini water cycle. :+1::seedling:

I noticed that when I was watching the BAS videos, I think I like the Earthbox design better. The covers on the city pickers don’t have elastic in the bands that hold the covers on, and the smaller ones just use giant rubber bands. Maybe I’ll design my own outta plastic next time, I can definitely see it helping with more moisture retention.

Thanks for joining! I wish I was smoking all those too, my caches have dwindled… I guess that means I just gotta grow some more :sunglasses:

Weekly update… the TER tent is looking good. 4 girls and one boy. Male not pictured. Not sure if I’m going to keep him yet or not. One possible herm, but going to keep an eye on it. I really like the one in the back right corner. Stinky stem rub and nice candelabra structure.

The 4x4 isn’t looking as good as I’m used to. I knew there’d be some adjustments moving to organics, so just trying to ride out the issues. Mostly look like PH issues to me. Most of the plants are straightening out now and getting some good growth and branching. I’m thinking that their just building the root system still. The soil is still trying to balance itself out too. The Rudeboi OG is the worst looking one, although it’s getting some new growth. Growth has definitely been slower than with nutes, but I’m sure that could change once I get everything dialed.

If anyone has any suggestions on the organics, I’m all ears.

Gnats are still an issue. Hit em with 2 heavy dose of gnatrol, but there is still tons of flyers. They like hiding under the covers for sure. I’m hitting up a beneficial bug place near me next week to check what they recommend to get the issue under control. I haven’t seen any rove beetles in my beds, so thinking about grabbing some of those and some Hypoaspis.

Can you take the covers on those box things off? I’d do that and then get a couple of oscillating fans in there, with an emphasis on blowing at soil level. I’d also add more sticky traps, also at soil level. I have these, like, little stake things that hold sticky traps that I can stick in the dirt, the trap ends up right above the mulch layer. If you can find those, I’d buy a bunch and put them in the soil. Those were one of the last things I ever ordered off of Amazon, I’ll see if I can find the link. But I bet you can find them at pretty much any gardening center.

Diatomaceous earth, too, maybe, although I dunno how much that helps. I’ve used it a few times, didn’t seem to make a difference. Someone on another thread was just talking about river rocks or something, swore by them. I’d never heard of that, but maybe you could look into it.

I really feel like those covers, though, might be encouraging rather than discouraging gnat populations. I’d take them off.

Can’t help you there haha. I grow organically, but I have no fucking idea what I’m doing.

This what I bought: Amazon.com : Garsum 21 Traps Sticky Houseplant Traps Gnat Yellow Insect Trap Indoor Fruit Fly Stakes Trap : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Uh, okay… I dunno why the link looks like that, but yeah, those stakes really come in handy.

This is exactly why I stopped using any kind of cover or mulch indoors. Since doing that I haven’t had any issues with them .
Back when I did have them they sure loved to go down in the gap between the soil and pots.

As for organic suggestions I can only suggest the very basic soil mix I use.

@minitiger @anon60559124 Thanks for the suggestions guys! I do agree the covers give the larvae and adults a nice space to thrive. Maybe I’ll air 'em out for a few days and try him 'em again with Gnatrol. I feel like if I could get the population under control, things will improve.

As far as the organics go, not much I can change at this point beyond water schedules, and minor things like that, maybe some light fish fertilizer or something. Everything is already in the mix. Since it’s fresh, hopefully everything balances itself out… maybe I’m just being a little impatient and used to all my plants getting that nutrition from the bottle instead of the soil. I think the one cultivar may just be sensitive too, and it may be a matter of learning that plant’s needs to make it happy. Who knows? I’m up for the challenge though…

I’ve read that plants bred in hydro setups don’t do as well in organic soil and vice versa. I dunno how Archive breeds their gear, but that could be something to keep in mind. That Rudeboi is Archive, right? And also, like you said, it’s a brand new soil mix, gonna take a little bit for everything to start breaking down. Maybe a little bit of that fulvic/humic might help? I dunno haha.

I’m not sure what Archive runs for their production, looking at their instagram, looks like they use promix with dripper setup. Their clones are in rock wool, then transplanted to promix or similar for sale. But that’s a good point, the Rudeboi may just not be use to the mix it’s in. I’ve heard OG’s can be finicky too.

I brewed a simple EWC tea, but didn’t use any fulvic/humic in the tea. Maybe I’ll try some light top watering with some Fulvic/Humic on the one Rudeboi to see how she responds. Could be that I just need to be more patient too, haha.
