Tents full of happiness and love ft. Bodhi and friends

I agree with this… I know TonyGreen has done a lot of GG4 RIL stuff already, and honestly, I’m not that interested in reproducing GG4 when I can just run the clone. I would be more interested in finding outlier or unique stuff if I did go through with a GG4 mash-up… but, honestly, now that I’m thinking about it, it would be nice to do a round with no males… i don’t need anymore seeds right now!

I’m sure she could make it to your garden if you wanted her… :mailbox_with_mail:

The photo you have of that plant looks killer… looks similar to GG4 resin coverage, maybe even a little more coated. I can only guess what she smelled like, but i know GG4 alone has a bunch of Chem funk, kerosene, pine, cleaners, etc… cures out really nicely, too. I love her… that’s why I’m about to grow a lot :smiling_imp:

Yeah, the Malawi has always intrigued me from reading smoke reports on ICMAG, even if oft exaggerated. It’d be nice to grow a more sativa leaning cultivar, in comparison to the clones I’m running, though I’ve read that it’s often quite narcotic. I guess we’ll see when the time comes, I’m always indecisive when it comes to popping new seeds, it may come down to a coin flip.

Only other thing I’ve been thinking is one of Bodhi’s Lavender Lemonade crosses to see what’s up with the new male, but I tend to try to do FIFO w/ seeds, so those may wait.

No doubt dude! Thanks again for the hook up!

Yeah she looked done last week, I could have probably taken some of her down then, I’ve just been prepping the dry space and didn’t have it ready until this weekend.

Nice info! I try to vape primarily… I’ll try to use her up quick

Yeah it is one that’s been at the top of my Bodhi “seeds to grow” list for a while… the pack is only getting older… It seems like it could be a winner pairing to me too, knowing both what the Wookie and GG4 are capable of in terms of strong smells, and effects.

Where’d you read that? That’s the first I’m hearing of it.

I’m with syzygy, grow the Malawi.

ACE’s version I’ve read can be that way, likely from the pck

There was a malawi cut I had in Oregon some years back that was soaring. Not narcotic at all. I’d love to find that again.

I’ve seen it pop up a few places here and there, that whatever dubi used to cross the Malawi Killer clone ( reputed to be PCK) makes it more narcotic, than the afropips version… I’m gonna go back and try to listen to the Potcast with dubi again to try to see what he says in the interview about it…

The Malawi may be the way to go, just have to find out for myself.

Anyways, here’s some shots of Chemdog 91 SkVa now that I get in the tent to get some good photos. Looks like she needs a bit longer… stacked with fat trich heads though.

haha, I said both options sound appealing, not just malawi!

For sure - unless something sounds really worthwhile I’m of the same mindset. Fighting the urge to use any ssdd males on the TS / TK if I find them…

Smelled just like a Fraser fir Christmas tree. Pure sweet pine.

Those sound sort of interesting, I don’t have any but to me they definitely sound more interesting than say the Purple Unicorn male. Whatever you choose will be cool to follow along.

It will probably be a last minute decision, like always!

If you want to have a stroke you can try reading these transcriptions about ACE’s Malawi:

I tried to make it more intelligible.

So for 10 years we only grow it, but not much into breeding with it . Then I decided that Malawi would be a really, really interesting line to do.
so, around 2012 with the last original seeds, I have, from the siblings of the Clone, the old Malawi killer clone.

I reproduce them.
I get to know other the females…
Siblings of the old Malawi killer that were not so strong, but I found carroty types, in Malawi.
Okay?
That is like, what I call the fruity Malawi.

If you go through Malawi breeder packs that have fruit terpenes.
So some do, okay.
And then I reproduce the the Malawi and it was (loud?)
Released regular season 2012.

Later, then came.
The feminized version.
And it was 2014, 2 years later in the P3 generation.

The, the grand sons and grandson and granddaughters of the old Malawi killer.
Well… I found a New Malawi killer, which is the second most important plant in my Malawi breeding, okay?

I found also in the P3 generation, another fruity Malawi, the remind me, A lot of the fruity types in the P1s that I couldn’t preserve the time and a colorful Malawi in the second generation.

That was the purple Malawi.
There were the ones that were only that were killer for effects was the old Malawi killer and the new Malawi killer.

Okay.
The fruity was nice but just for terpenes and and the purple was nice.

But for colors, the winners for Potency and yield where the Old Killer and the New Killer and from there are you start to breed the new killer into the old killer to make, the latest feminized versions.

So l make sure that I combine, my strongest Malawi killer phenotypes enough times, in a single fem line, So later Growers can buy a 3-5 pack, and we’ll get killer phenotypes that are outstanding only by germinating 2-3 seeds.

Sounds like had seeds from siblings of the Old Malawi Killer clone, not sure what means though?

Sounds like an amazing testimonial for the Malawi to me if he was under the influence of it when communicating that haha.

The RSC Malawi that I sampled had very clear energetic and introspective effects. Lasted at least 4 hours too. Wasn’t my favorite but definitely wasn’t narcotic.

Haha! Gimme some of what this guy is smoking, right? I think a lot of it is just a language barrier thing, the interview is hard to follow, but there’s some useful stuff in there.

Cool! I’m interested to see if any of yours make it to fruition and if they come out any differently.

Yeah, I always get a kick out of Charlie’s posts on icmag, but that transcript… Uh… What the fuck is the “iPhone karate type”? Haha.

Is this an AI-generated transcript?

Oh you know it is… it took me longer to listen and transcribe parts myself because the generated transcript was so bad it was throwing me off… “malawi line that have put thier penis” was stuck in my head, I couldn’t hear what was really being said, haha.

Anyways… here’s some pics of

Hollywood Pure Kush (HPK) x SkyCuddler Double Kush - Freeborn Selections

Most pictured at 51 days… the one towards the end are a little older, 60ish days.
Still nothing really standout smell-wise, some have gotten pretty frosty though. We’ll see how they finish up here soon, I’m already looking forward to the next thing!

Nah, dude, focus! Focus!

Just kidding.

There does seem to be a pretty decent amount of variation amongst them, at least as far as the flower morphology is concerned. I wouldn’t worry about the lack of smell, though. The couple meangene things I grew were very tasty, even though maybe they didn’t smell like much. I can’t remember if they were super-loud, actually haha, but I do remember that they tasted very good. And smoked really good, too.

I’m not giving up on them or anything… gonna let everything finish proper and dry and cure up right.

I think you’re right, they’ll still be tasty and smoke fine, just not what i was expecting smell-wise… that’s ok too, they don’t all have to melt my nostrils, it’s just cooler to me when they do! Still looking forward to the smoke, no doubt!

I think they’ll turn out great, but I get it. I haven’t even flipped the current grow yet and I’m already thinking about what I’m gonna plant next.

Hollywood Pure Kush (HPK) x SkyCuddler Double Kush - Freeborn Selections

Photos are in no particular order, just random pics of the 9 females I grew to completion. Haven’t had much time to organize photos and such… brought all these girls down today at 68 days. A few may have wanted to go a little longer, but I’m trying to prep for the next run already, and dealing with a possible thrip issue… these were close enough for chop.

They actually ended up being pretty stinky! Some odors of permanent marker/dry erase marker, some more sharp smelling, while others have more of an OG thing going on with them, some smell more feminine kush like… They all look pretty OG to me, though. Tall and lanky, with golf ball buds poking out of the stems. Easy trim most likely. I did end up keeping clones of three of them, but haven’t decided if I’m going to keep them long term, going to do some smoke testing here in three weeks or so and make some decisions from there…

Not sure where this log is gonna go, thinking about taking a little break from posting here. At least, until I have some new stuff in flower.

I was just thinking about how OG’s look earlier today. Like, how the actual flowers looked, thinking about how those old Diablo and Fire OG, Skywalker, whatever, always had those nugs that seemed to be made up of individual tear drop-shaped calyces. And you could kind of break them up calyx by calyx. Do you remember that? Haha. @zephyr Do you remember that?

I dunno why I was thinking about that earlier. I grabbed some of the Angelica nugs and some other things to give to my pool guy, maybe that’s why. Those Angelica flowers aren’t really all “calyx-y.” I like the smoke haha, they just don’t look like a lot of the old OG’s I remember.

Anyway, those plants look great, glad they started stinking up for you. Some of them look more calyx-y than others haha.

What’re you gonna grow?

yeah that’s exactly how I remember them. large distinct calyxes that easily separated and basically no leaf in the buds, except maybe one or two leaves stuck to the underside of a bud. I often picked it apart like that to roll joints, everything else needed a grinder.

this has got me thinking of what it was like looking at buds before I ever grew or saw live plants. pretty much every other strain seemed like an indistinct mass, with the leaves mixed into the bud in a way that made them difficult to distinguish. with the ogs I could see the actual structure of how it grew.

(also I’m realizing I was lucky that all the weed I used to get when I was a teenager was so sticky it needed a grinder.)

Right, exactly. I do remember thinking that those City Name Pure Kushes (Hollywood, Topanga, Malibu etc) didn’t look like the OG’s, though. I could be remembering wrong haha, but I don’t recall them having that super-defined “calyx by calyx” sorta growth structure, where you could just break the flowers up one calyx at a time.

I mean, if you wanted to haha. I’ve always rolled a lot of joints, so that was something I did pretty frequently. Never used a grinder.

Haha, that was like early/mid-Aughts, right? Or a little later? Maybe early 2010’s? I remember that, too, really noticed a decline in overall quality once Prop 64 got passed here in CA. Not that I was going to dispensaries very often after that happened, but the few times I did, I was like,”What is this shit?”, all dry and crumbly and gross haha…
