Tents full of happiness and love ft. Bodhi and friends

Oh, sweet, good to hear. I don’t know anything about the ATV series or whatever haha, but yeah, I think they’re good lights, pretty sure I’ve made that abundantly fucking clear over the years haha.

I like it when that happens. I dunno why exactly, I just do.

Yeah, lemme think… Sky Cuddler Kush #3 f3. She was good weed, definitely lanky, but nice and stony. I was hoping for that sorta plant morphology, anyway. Tasty weed. No complaints haha. I’ll grow it again.

You do realize that I have no fucking idea who Greengene is, right? Haha. Is that meangene’s cousin?

lmao, that’s good… and yes, i realize, you’re not the youtube type. he’s another dude out there growing a bunch of weed and documenting how he does it. He grows mainly with salts indoors, which is why I’ve been catching up on his posts recently.

I like it too, so that it let’s more light into the lower part of the canopy and I don’t have to pluck many leaves. Plus i think it just looks cool.

Cool, I’ll have to go back and look at your report. I did hit them all with compost tea this weekend and they’re growing like crazy, I may run out of headroom… shit!

I actually just posted this on syzygy’s thread, but I know who Greengenes is, just found out. His old screen name was tags420 and one of his threads on thcfarmer like twelve years ago (plus his answers to a bunch of questions I DM’d him) were the reason I bought my first Apache. I liked that guy. I may actually check out some of his videos just because I like him. He was a very helpful dude, seems to genuinely care.

Haha, yeah, I do, too.

Oh, sweet! First time in a while or have you been occasionally watering with those and I just missed it? Haha. Did you use the full-on air pump and the standard “4 gallons of water/1.5 cups compost/third of a cup of molasses” recipe?

I’m just glad somebody besides me is still doing that haha… It really rubbed me the wrong way when people started saying those compost teas aren’t necessary, pretty sure that was the first thing that made me think,”Okay, I dunno if I really need to be online anymore…” . I mean, maybe they’re not “necessary,” but they help. A lot.

haha, you knew who he was before i did! He does seem like a pretty knowledgeable guy, and i don’t get the feeling that he’s pushing too much bullshit. He does seem to have a genuine love for the plant. That’s cool that he recommended the Apaches… how old are your lights now? Seems like they’ve been solid.

Nah, it’s the first time in a while that I’ve done it. I’m just using the standard recipe, worm casting/compost in and old sock, and molasses, airlift pump in five gallon bucket, brew for 24-36 hours and you’re good to go. The plants responded really well, looks of bright green new growth. I don’t exactly know why it fell out of fashion, but I’ve always noticed benefits from using it, it definitely doesn’t hurt anything.

Yeah, he helped me out a lot with the light decision. I keep trying to find his Blue Dream side-by-side in case you wanted to read it, but it’s not there. I did, however, find some thread of me asking about LED stuff on thcfarmer years ago, didn’t remember that at all. Every time I read those old posts, I’m just like,”Oh my gawd… I was SO fucking high on blow when I wrote that…” haha.

Uhhh… The AT600’s gotta be around nine years old, but I think she still has a good three or four years left. I didn’t grow at all for like nine months at one point and it’s not like she’s running all the time anyway. I’ll probably rent one of those PAR meter things in a year or so and check it out, but I don’t think I’ll have to replace it until 2027 at the earliest.

I bought the AT200’s a few months into COVID, so… When was that? Like four years ago? Those don’t get run all the time, either, still have ten years easy with those. Unless I ramp shit up and start growing 24/7/365 or something haha.

Oh, you put it in a sock? I always just dump the compost into the bucket, never tried the sock method.

Always! Always! Haha. It’s totally fucking noticeable. And I don’t notice a lot of stuff, so… haha.

The first time I saw it was when I finally signed up on IG a few years ago and started following that Mountain Organics dude, the one with the no-till thread on grasscity. He was selling his “bottled microbe teas,” so it made sense that he’d start saying,”No no no! You don’t need compost teas! Just buy my stuff instead!”

And then I noticed Coot talking shit about them, too, even though he’d been advocating for compost teas for years. Who knows what his motivation was? I really don’t care haha. I’ll always use ‘em.

Just try the Photone app on your phone, it’s cheapest option, i think the app is free, you just need a piece of printer paper to act as a diffuser for your phone camera. It’s not perfect, but will get you close enough.

Yeah, don’t replace them until they fail, unless their output gets so diminished the plants stop growing well. I think they only lose like 5-10% output every 5 years, not sure if that goes up exponentially though.

haha, yeah he’s still doing that… I follow him on instagram and his grows always look good. Still not buying any of those crazy organic potions though!

Hollywood Pure Kush (HPK) x SkyCuddler Double Kush - Freeborn Selections

Whoa, we got some lanky gals here… could be they’re not really getting enough light and getting etiolated, but even the ones in the other tent have stretched quite a bit, so I dunno. Had to remove the carbon filter for the time being and get some more headroom in the tent. Hopefully they’re about done stretching, there’s no more room to raise the light.

Weird floppy plant, she just won’t straighten up… barely holding her weight in veg, not sure what is gonna happen in flower.

Here the other stretcher… looking hungry already.

LA Pure Kush

Here we are at 49 days flowering. Starting to get some fade already. Smell has changed a bit, she smells more like really good fresh sage that is is covered with that kushy/cleaner smell. Delightful. I have to practically take a shower every time I work with this one. I was told that she needs to go 70 days, so we got a while to go. I should have done a better job pruning and training this one…

Chemdog 91 SkVA
Starting to look delicious. Also starting to eat her own leaves like she like to do. She’ll look pretty ragged by the end. Getting that funky smell to her too, seems to come on late with her. Also at 49 days flowering.

Tahoe OG

Just gonna let the photos do the work, haha. Day 49 flowering as well. I’ve had to tie the pots down to the risers to keep the plants from falling over they’re so heavy. Rearranged the big tent so they’re finishing under lower light and cooler temps. Probably gonna take these down at day 65.

We had a lot of fun hanging out with @Greasy and his girl this weekend. They stopped by and checked out the garden, we smoked some bowls and caught up, and checked out some of city. Super nice dude, and I really can’t say enough good things about the guy… hoping he can get back to growing sooner rather than later!

Thank god it’s legal there haha.

Love the shots as always. LA Pure kush almost has a bubba look to it to me, are they supposed to be related somehow?

Impressed you’re able to grow the c91 without nanners too.

Awesome that you got to hang out w/ greasy ! Hopefully he can keep making the professional looking edibles at least during his hiatus.

Yeah no doubt, though i have the plants in the backyard as cover for now!

Strawberry Ethiopian - i haven’t really fed this plant anything, i think i top dressed one time, so I’m not surprised on the early fade. Smells great, whiffs of fresh strawberry and dankness. Maybe if i can protect from the rains i can get her to ripen a little more… looks like good weather for the next week.

Irene - cute little bush! Lagging way behind it seems though.

Grandaddy Purple - smells dank, really good! like fruity tootsie roll funk. See some seed in there, might be a fun one to explore…

I’m honestly not too sure on the history of the cut, i know it originally came from pnwstrainhunter… and made its way to me. Reminds me of Bubba/Irene too, but faster growing and just better branching.

I had a few here and there last grow of her, i think, but i haven’t spotted any this time. I dunno, she seems like a hard plant to keep happy all the way through flower.

Yeah, nice to meet up in rl and share our love for the plant! Let’s hope he continues…! He hooked me up with some gifts, and he’s getting me in trouble haha! This chocolate toffee is some next level shit… it’s too good!

Thanks for showing us such a good time in Portland. You live in an awesome city. I would say it’s probably the stoniest place I’ve ever visited in the U.S.! Iamyou’s set up is impeccable, and we enjoyed sampling a wide variety of stuff he’s grown. When I get back to growing, I’ll aspire to building an efficient and thoughtful set up like he has! In the meantime, I’ll just have to continue enjoying seeing all the good work you all do!

Thinking I might end up snagging one of these was looking to upgrade my hlg 600r to a bar light in my 4x4 but for the same price as a decent 4x4 bar light I can get a 5x5 tent and the Apache, end up with a bit more space did some measurements and can fit a 5x5 in my grow area

Do it, dude! They’re great lights. I’ll never use anything else.

Yeah man, go for it if you have the funds. I haven’t been disappointed. I just dimmed mine down some more for the finishing plants, it’s still incredibly bright…

Glad you’re sticking around!

Photo dump of Tahoe OG around 55/56 days flowering. I really love this plant, the smell, the way it tastes, the way it grows, the high. It’s really just a great example of high quality OG-style plant.

LA Pure Kush - unfortunately found two buds with botrytis near the side of the tent… cut them out, but you know if it’s in there, the spores are in there too, so it’s just a matter of the resistance of the plants and really keeping humidity levels in check for the end of the run. I’d love to ditch the tents someday and have a dedicated room that could fit a dehumidifier in the space. right now I’m using one outside the space, and it’s a challenge to really keep RH in check. Especially right now, when the season is changing and the central HVAC isn’t running at a consistence rate. Haven’t seen anything else pop up, but she sure is fading fast…

Chemdog 91 SkVa - the smell on her is so good, just hits a weird spot in a my brain when i sniff 'er. Chunking out now… fading as well… though she has a bit to go. Mmm… can’t wait, I have been craving this one for a while.

Yeah tahoe is super nice, yours looks great! I need to grow some more of it, its my go to jar for evenings- the flavor is soo nice and its very stony. TK if I want to be a bit more productive, tahoe to chilll. Bummer on the lapk mold, I always have more humidity in spring/fall when the ac/heat arent being run as much. Seems like I can keep the tents around 55% -60% if I dont forget to empty the dehumidifier.

Thanks man! I can’t wait to bring these down. She’s a sturdy plant too, holding her own weight with some donks on her. She’s been my go-to jar in the evening… haha i kind of have a little routine going of either Bandaid 7 or Lav Jack after lunch, Triple Sunshine in the afternoon, and Tahoe after dinner…

I can’t complain, but sometimes I still do…

I’ll try and snap some pics of her later and the HPK x SCDK…

Tahoe holding strong with all that buddage!

Hollywood Pure Kush (HPK) x SkyCuddler Double Kush - Freeborn Selections

Some of these are looking promising… the others, i dunno, they lookin’ funky!

Smells are pretty underwhelming at this point… nothing too strong smelling. Some melon notes in some, little kush, some are just nothing but a little minty… We’re at 40 days for most of these, one of them pictured is a little further along. I would have expected them to be stronger smelling by this point… I dunno, I won’t rule out anything until the smoke test… but so far I’m not that impressed with this line from MG.

Looks like some of them got pretty tall, too, huh?

I’m sure you know this, but I’ve seen people mention that certain stuff of theirs didn’t start smelling at all until like day 50. Pretty sure that’s actually happened to me, too haha.

Yeah for sure, I’ve had that happen a few times. I’m being patient… there’s one that is over day 50 now that actually smells pretty good in a weird way, kinda like a meaty marshmallow smell, very strange. The others are just coming up 46 days now, so I’ll give them some more time before really passing any judgement.

The LA Pure Kush just smells so strong - maybe it’s making me nose blind to everything else.

LA Pure Kush

She looks ready to me… bringing her down at 67 days. Looking a little haggard, a little light stressed, I think. Maybe she ran outta steam towards the end. The smell on her actually has become less intense in the last few days, that’s another reason I’m gonna go ahead and chop her. Still smelling really strongly of sage and feminine kush, let’s hope that smell hangs on through the dry/cure!

I also chopped the Tahoe OG’s at 64 days. They were both starting to flop, the one in the one gallon had almost fallen over, so i decided to go ahead and bring them down. Didn’t get any pictures as I was in a rush. I’m thinking I’ll get maybe a half pound from those two plants, they were heavy!

Already have plans for the 8x4 for next round, but I’m still trying to decide on what seeds to pop in the 4x4 next… tied between Space Monkey from Bodhi and Malawi from ACE. I’m doing a run of 4x GG4 plants, so if I did pop the Space Monkey, it would give me the opportunity to do a GG4 Bx with any male plants… I’m on the fence. If i do keep any males, I’m not gonna let them get as big as i did this previous time, what a mess cleaning up all that damn pollen! Going forward, micro-males only!

:eyes:

Both choices sound cool to me. The BX seeds don’t sound as interesting given so many GG4 genetics are circulating, but a side by side comparison showcasing one of Bodhi’s more popular F1s against the mother plant would be cool to see for sure. I’ve never had verified GG4 before but the pine pheno of Space Monkey I found is still in my top 3 from Bodhi.

Malawi I’m biased in my interest given my RSC Malawi are sprouting right now, but that seems like it could potentially be a dramatic change from the other clones & maybe even good wintertime / early spring herb. In a way GG4 x Malawi sounds more interesting when thinking about seeds to sprout as opposed to GG4 x Space Monkey.

What other choices were you thinking about in your head, or was it just those 2?

Plants look(looked?) good, haha!

Dude that LAPK is a monster haha. Definitely looks done - I found it to look done at 56 and think I took it at 70. Should hold the smell well into the cure, it’s pretty stinky and tastes amazing in the vape. Does seem to fade a bit after ~6 months.

Space monkey would be cool - I’d like to start growing out some of those after all the glowing reports over the years. Maybe my next seed pop!
