The Canadian Contingent (Part 1)

Yes that IS The Day After Tomorrow!

Not that it compares to most of Canada, but we are having really cold weather here, I was on the wine last night, first alcohol in 2 weeks and had to much. I woke up at 3am on the sofa and it was minus 25 with minus 37 windchill according to my weather station, so I went outside in my dressing gown to see what it was like. As expected it was fucking cold the coldest I have ever experienced lol.

Haha -17 here without the windchill, good news is the gusts aren’t like 40-50k today so it’s ALMOST bare able, these are the ONLY days I thank God my Alaskan adventure got derailed many years back as I just don’t know if I would have survived days 2x as cold as this!

Minus 17.3 here with minus 30 windchill wind speeds around 47k atm it’s warming up slowly.

Oh man, you’ve got that wind we had yesterday, nasty! That’s a helluva view brother, right across the street from a lake. Epic! I’d be fishing even more than I do now lol. I’d imagine we aren’t too far apart tbh , but I could be off. Stay warm bro

Upper LaHave Nova Scotia it’s warming up minus 15 but the wind chill is still minus 33, wind is a steady 37k gusts up to 56km atm.

Correct, 5 points to you

We are about 10 clicks from the sea here so it’s more estuary than river, we get tides here.

Cape Breton is awesome (in the summer/fall) one the most beautiful places in Canada.

I’ll eat anything from the sea!

Agreed. We made sure to get to the Gaelic school before sunrise to hear the piper start the day! Also, those looms…

I’m the opposite… my motto: “If it came from the sea than it ain’t for me.”

More for all y’all though!

Hope you made it out okay @Shadey, was super chilly here in the city last night and still is lol. Made it through relatively unscathed, save for a stubborn frozen shower pipe. All the other faucets and such working here but have been trying to thaw the shower for a couple hours with a space heater and a hair dryer. Not too much movement on it yet, but getting a trickle. Old house with what I can only assume are uninsulated pipes on an exterior wall.

Yeah, being this house is 150+ years old. Some bits don’t have insulation  we were expecting frozen pipes but everything is as it should be thankfully, a lot of Bridgewater is without power atm.

We turned the heat pump off at minus 12 last night and turned the oil furnace on, we have been keeping it reserved for really cold weather. The wood stove helps dramatically as well, in fact I was too hot last night, had to move the oil furnace thermostat down to 62f to cool down lol. Once the woodstove died down it was more comfortable.
