The Central American landrace and heirloom thread (Part 1)

Yup. Cryptic Labs Oaxaca. I wondered about Thai genetics too, but the smells are all pine and fruit, smells associated with oaxacan.( and Thai) Seeds are small, unlike SE asian. Maybe just a more undomesticated Oaxacan? Maybe Thai was brought to Oaxaca long ago? Or maybe BOEL bred the two?
Its going to be some kick ass smoke!

Some of the very very old thais had tiny black cannon ball shaped seeds. That type is virtually non existent now.

I’ve been grabbing the seeds just before they are completely done so they don’t fall and hit the floor. Keeping seeds from each plant separate. Here’s some scraggly buds from the second shortest plant… very potent
This plant appeared to be done flowering a few weeks ago, and upon leaving it began vigorously flowering again but not on every branch, like this one.

My friend went to visit her dad in El Salvador and said she got hooked up with weed from a local dealer that are heavily seeded. She says it reminds her of the Reggie we smoked in high school. Anyone know about the source of weed over there? Not aware of any indigenous strains, she says it’s earthy/herbal but grown properly, who knows :man_shrugging:t4:

It’s probably good if it’s taken care of. All those seeds could have come off the same plant, but there could be something great in The Offspring. Nicaragua has a potent landrace, and both Guatemala and Honduras have good landraces too… should be related to the old Mexican varieties. Good score!

That’s what I was thinking as well, I told her to bring as many back as she can so :crossed_fingers:t4::crossed_fingers:t4::crossed_fingers:t4: She comes back with a gem

Yes definitely look after those, they are worth investing time an space on as those oaxacan types with the tiny seeds seem to be very rare now. There definitely good ones and you have something from quite far back in time. If you keep an eye out and see most oaxacans available now even the 79 ace have and Vermont mans 79 oaxacan skull none will have those tiny seeds like yours. The plants on other lines will usually also come out bulkier and faster than the longest flowering ones you have. I had a line along time ago with tiny seeds just like yours but the seeds were almost black with a orange tint on the edges, very oily feel to them. That line would go from 16-20 weeks, would bud with a slighty different structure to yours tho. Grow huge tree like plants if given enough space and light. Gave a very clear euphoric type high, blissful but very strong. Unfortunately I completely lost that line to the bizzy bodies over 12 years ago. Its nice to finally see someone enjoying something similar, I hope it stays with you and brings you much pleasure for years to come.

I didn’t let any seeds ripen to the point that they fell off the plant. Heres the ripest next to two Panama seeds.

they would get black for sure.
I feel extremely fortunate to have found this Oaxacan line. 4 years looking for it. Nothing else sounded pure, or had males and females. I passed many up. I’ll be holding on to this one!
Hats off and a hearty THANKYOU to Cryptic Labs for preserving this gem all these years. Excellent job with selections. These plants check all the boxes for what Oaxacan landrace should be. They were grown in two gallon pots, and would have gotten much bigger for sure. Even the Dwarf would have been bigger in a large container. I will be trying them again seedless/ mostly seedless.

That’s great to hear you like it so much. I’m glad I jumped on a pack. Sounds like their Guerrero might be some gold too.

Definitely great smoke. Looking forward to the longer flowering plants finishing. Harvest day for the first plant is today😁
My Mexican friend has heard the Guerrero might be contaminated, but I’m sure its great, and I’d like to see for myself after growing this one.

Getting my ass kicked by soaking wet pressure treated lumber. No kids to move the stuff around. Me and one other guy built more than 50% of this by ourselves and the other 50% with a helper or two.

8×8 posts, 2×12 girders, 2×10 joists. All soaked. Some of the two by 12’s were 24 feet long! Probably 300 plus pounds. The deck is 2500 square feet and over twenty feet off the ground on the high spot, and 12 feet on the low spot.
Funny how vacations make us more tired lol. Same thing happens to me. I usually need a vacation after my vacations LOL. I sure could use one now!

Believe me my friend, I’m getting too old for this shit myself LOL. When I started swinging a hammer 30 years ago I imagined myself having some help when I was older. Kids don’t want to work anymore. Almost 50 and laboring for myself. Definitely use that pollen. It’s special.

Harvest day for this oaxacan plant. Day 97, almost 14 weeks exactly. It’s the second shortest of the bunch. The smells I’m getting now are mainly citrus-based. This is the plant that stopped flowering and then fired up again. Looks like it would have formed nice buds if I hadn’t pollinated so heavily. The calyx’s swell up nicely. A bit of purple in there too.
What I have smoked off of this one so far has been the branches that quit flowering about a month ago… far past Prime at this point. Still very good smoke, but not as uppity as it would have been picked on time. I’m looking forward to trying some flowers that have just ripened.
