@Upstate
My hat is off to you
Be careful with your back! I’m moving my t111 siding into a shed today because a rain is moving in. I thought I had a big project but yours is many times mine
My dad and daughter are and we’re entrepreneurs. Daughter is about to give up pool building because she has tried for eight years to out together a decent crew. Sheesh…
Big project No Doubt. It’s gotten so difficult to find help. The guy I’m working for has had an ad in the paper for two and a half years or more and has found only one person in that time . I hope your father and daughter can finally find some help. Seems to be a shortage of people with a decent work ethic these days.
It’s the last two generations, let’s not be sugar coating shit here now @upstate.
Lol
Hope things are going well
More important than ever to learn to do it yourself… cuz if you want it done and done right, you’re probably gonna be doing it yourself.
@Blue1963 what a beautiful plant! I like the cut of your jib👍 that looks like some real deal unrefined raw sativa, getting harder to find those these days that are worth a darn and that don’t smell like citrus.
Whoa!! I missed that picture before. What a beauty! How many weeks along is this one? It sure does look like a dr. Grinspoon. I actually thought it was a picture of oaxacan. Damn it looks similar. Boy, if it was me I would accidentally spill a little bit of Oaxaca Pollen on that one lol. I thought Sensi Star was a couple different indicas hybridized and turned IBL? Strange that crazy plant should pop out of the mix. Still going now? Any update photos?
@OleReynard no doubt. Last two generations for sure. Our youngest worker is 28 and I use the term worker loosely. Next youngest is 35. Seems to be about the last of the workers, these 35 year olds. We have three of them. This aversion to hard work probably began with my generation. Each one has it easier than the one before, and soy seems to have become prevalent in some diets LOL. Little noodle armed things. Not all of course, and I hope you all know I’m just teasing. Sort of😁…
@lefthandseeds too true. You have to be a Jack of all trades.
I think they recently disclosed the genetics of sensi star. Seems it was made from a mutant almost indica looking pheno that was found in the kerlan sativa. Cant remember what else was used
I recently had some guys subcontracted to dig a trench in my yard. Their contract was to put back together the irrigation lines they went through when they were done. Well, they went right through some PVC and poly and then later I saw them getting ready to put it back together. A few hours later, they were gone and the trench was filled.
So I thought… “These guys never asked me to turn on the water. This isn’t going to go well.” But hey, they do this stuff every day, so what do I know. I go down and turn on the water and of course I don’t hear it stop running. Check the yard and there’s water coming up from the ground. Turn it off, dig it up and they just straight up buried cracked pipe.
I paid them for the pleasure, so I called them up to come fix it. Sent two guys whose expertise appeared to be playing on their phones while they burned clock time. Never fixed it, and left without saying anything. Called again, sent some kids that looked like they were in high school. Wtf… of course they didn’t do shit. Called a 3rd time, and the manager came out. He was the only guy I met the whole time with a clue. Thought we got it fixed, but who really knows when you buried all the lines. Days later I looked again and found soggy spots on the ground.
I was pissed and I knew I had to do it myself at this point. I dug it up and found a T with a coupler on each side. Wtf… who needs 3 couplers on a T. There were unglued joints, unclamped poly connections. Just shoddy, sloppy work. So I go to Lowes and they didn’t even have the parts I really needed, but even without the right parts to fix it, I managed to get something put together that didn’t leak.
Knock on wood that there aren’t more gremlins lurking in the ground from those bozos, but I think that’s a pretty common story these days.
Man WTF??? What is wrong with people? They have the attitude that they just need to show up to get paid. I can’t tell you how many times when I had “help” at the job and I had to climb down 20 ft and go get something myself because they were nowhere to be found. It’s only getting worse too. Imagine that same scenario but Thirty or forty or more years from now( if we live to be that old.) Hopefully a Roomba is more advanced by then LOL… we’re going to need it.
Yea, so I was just out mowing in the yard and guess what I found. Another. Fucking. Leak. This is in a spot they already dug up and “fixed”. There goes another half Saturday… sigh
Ok, those pics were May 7th looks the same today as it did then. And yes no way that’s Sensi star not even close…I’m just going to let her roll see what it does… you know those seeds came out of some Sebring lots I bought can’t recall with out looking (son started those) Sensi star nl haze something something lol
I’ve bought so many seeds I can’t recall.
Noooooo! That sucks! I feel your pain. Probably getting a little hot out there to be digging isn’t it? That’s no fun . I’m spending my Saturday afternoon waiting for a plumber to show up to fix our hot water heating unit that was put in 8 years ago. It was never put in properly and when I had a different plumber come to look at it for the first time he pointed out that many of the parts were more than 30 years old. The new parts had been taken and swapped out for the old ones. Anytime I did work I always did it the right way even if it cost me money. Where’s kharma?
So it was Sensi star crossed with Northern Lights Haze. That makes sense. You must have had a haze phenotype pop out. Probably one in a hundred or one in a thousand now. My plants kind of stalled for what seemed like eternity before finally packing on some “weight”.
She hired a 69 year old man to help her husband with construction.
I was in business with dad and the guys just started making excuses for everything just to get out of working
I move to Oklahoma and my first Christmas here I was driving around in Christmas Eve and look over and in forty degrees and a misting rain, in Christmas evening at six pm I see immigrants (I assume)
They are putting shingles on a new house! No shit.
Fifty years ago that would have been me and dad.
I give them a lot of credit. They’re the only ones that want to work anymore.
Oh yea, I’m not going out to start on it until like 5pm. It’s mid-90s here today and my body isn’t used to it yet.
This year has just been hell for me. I’ve only been a homeowner for like 7 years, and it feels like literally everything in my house has broken this year. I did the water heater myself though, and I think it was a pretty easy swap. It was done correctly before and I picked a unit that was dimensionally almost identical so I wouldn’t have to fuss with it. @8k_feet came by and gave me a hand with that one.
But I’m trying to do improvements at the same time and it feels like I’m just running on a treadmill and trying to keep up so I don’t go backwards lol.
@lefthandseeds
WELCOME TO THE JOYS OF HOME OWNERSHIP!
lol…
I’m replacing siding , flowerbeds, a roof over my barn, and maintaining all the weed eating mowing and gardens. Often help wife with inside chores like vacuuming since her back is screwed. Changing blinds and curtains light fixtures and making a green house out of an old shed were my last year’s projects
I wish I wish I wish I had these problems
RENTAL APARTMENTS SUCK.
Ps. @Upstate Congrats on your fishing lure case of seeds & that insanely large deck…
@CADMAN
I feel ya…I only wish I had no neighbor at all…
I love doing manual labor especially on my own property…it’s refreshing to be here working on my little place
Sometimes all you can do is tread water and keep yourself from going under. When I bought my first home I will never forget my dad’s words…
“Welcome to poverty son”.
Too true!
