The Central American landrace and heirloom thread (Part 1)

I have the dwarf pheno. Two taller girls. One has a split stalk the other is a giantess probably 11 maybe 12 for tall. Only the dwarf 6foot tall plant has calyxes

I love the color, it seems that it has been curing for months and not a couple of days.:+1:t3:

@Upstate Hopefully, at some point, we will be able to isolate Old Silversides into a separate repeatable pheno.
And yes, the Alter Ego/H.O.G. is from Bodhi. I was able to obtain a pack from Colorado Sativas. Iā€™m wondering how theyā€™re going to compare to what Iā€™m growing now.

I think I have some of the Old SIlversides seeds from another member. They are labeled OS so I assume it is themā€¦what is it again and where is it from? I thought it was some kind of Thai, but apparently not.

My other females have afew caluxes down.low.

So my Red Snake twin was developing large clusters of balls on the taller plant and I just chopped him. But, the smaller companion is showing some white hairs this morning! So I transplanted it and will continue to monitor.

I am quite certain there was only seed per cup, so how this twin could have two genders is very interesting. Apparently fraternal twins is a possibility.

Hey yā€™all!

My Jalisco :mexico: Landrace run is coming along well! Itā€™s the end of week 2 of flower and I need to cull 1 outright hermie, and have 2 other males thatā€™ iā€™m waffling with 1x absolute keeper.

If yā€™all have the time, Iā€™d really appreciate yā€™all stopping in here on my thread to help this tired brain make the correct decision with this. :hugs:

Hereā€™s the group shots with the up-close in my threadā€™s post.

Thank yā€™all most kindly!

My advice is keep all viable males. You donā€™t know enough about what traits they might pass on to get rid of anything yet and your ā€œsolidā€ male could still turn on you and throw female flowers.
Better to have an inferior male than none at allā€¦ And I think the land race team use rather small amounts of plants for their reproductions so I wouldnā€™t eliminate any genetics I didnā€™t absolutely have to the first run. Secure and expand all the genetics you have bought first by using every stable plant you have the firs pollination round, unless something truly lacks in all departments.
The worst drooping is sometimes the plant telling you it is a male. They always seem to droop first or most, likely because they get bigger quicker. I can pick out which plants are male or female in my own strains most of the time by this drooping. Yours donā€™t seem so easy. Plants that are used to being grown in the ground will also droop like this when their taproot bottoms out and begins to spin. Hunger can also do itā€¦
Plant 3 is maleā€¦the pointy thingys sticking out are Stipules. ( @George i rememberedšŸ˜)
Plant 4 is a mess
#7 is male. Again. Purple stipules sticking out.
Good ratios for lots of diversity! Looking good!
Psā€¦ all males look good to use.

Hyp3brids has a Jalisco IBL that just dropped some weeks ago and is way cheaper than TLTā€˜s selection. Wonder if their sources are the same, I copped some. Maybe we could marry the stock?

So, I used the wayback machine and was able to find the description posted on ColoradoSativas website for H.O.G./AlterEgo:

HIGHLAND OAXACAN GOLD S1 (Alter Ego)

Genetics: Oaxaca, Mexico

Outdoor flowering: Mid October

Bodhi:

ā€œThe Oaxaca Highland Gold, somewhat similar to the Colombian Gold, lacked bright gold color but sported purple and red calyx tips on its blondish-brownish-green buds. It had larger buds surrounded by long, skinny leaves. It was a nearly pure Sativa which grew tall at 45Ā°N, outdoors. It was also one of the most symmetrical sativas I have encountered. The plants grew long side branches toward the bottom, and the even growth made these productive beauties look like Christmas trees when mature.

The Finished Product: A very sweet and spicy herb of the highest quality, with a hint of fruity pine aroma. A certain, unmistakable flavor comes to mind: that of incense cedar/frankincense/burgundy/floral with spicy/savory undertones. Coffee, chocolate and fine tobacco were also present, but the sweet incense cedar is what I most recall from the Highland Oaxaca. It produced the most desirable finished product, in my opinion, and has yet to be replicated to my complete satisfaction.ā€

But wait, thereā€™s more :grinning:

I also found this written by DJ Short: https://www.cannabisculture.com/content/2005/06/28/4280/

Highland Oaxaca

Highland Gold, somewhat similar to the Colombian Gold, lacked bright gold color but sported purple and red calyx tips on its blondish-brownish-green buds. It had larger buds surrounded by long, skinny leaves.

I smoked this variety during brief periods in the early 70ā€™s and again in the late 70ā€™s, paying anywhere between $40 and $120 per ounce. It was some of my all-time favorite because the aroma and flavor were of a super-spicy cedar incense with a slight fermented berry taste, in a very comfortable yet powerfully psychedelic pot. This herb contributed to many great parties, concerts and events of the era because it produced a very socially-conscious experience and mixed well with other psychedelics.

With a long lasting, creeper high that kept coming on in waves over the hours, this stuff had no ceiling. One phenomenon consistently reported from the Highland Oaxaca experience was that of peripheral visual distortions of primarily cartoon color images. This tended to increase the visual distortions caused by other psychedelics such as mushrooms or LSD.

The Oaxaca Highland Gold was a nearly pure Sativa which grew tall at 45?N, outdoors. It was also one of the most symmetrical Sativas I have encountered. The plants grew long side branches toward the bottom, and the even growth made these productive beauties look like Christmas trees when mature.

The finished product was a very sweet and spicy herb of the highest quality, with a hint of fruity pine aroma. The seeds for this variety were small, dark and round, and the plants exhibited slight signs of hermaphroditism and required surveillance to maintain seedlessness.

It seems to me that Bodhi reproā€™d DJShortā€™s Highland Oaxacan Gold.
What do yā€™all think?

I have alter egos H.O.G. as well but Iā€™m a bit skeptical to run them since his Mexican Red Hair was not as advertised. Some started to go auto and the ā€œkeeperā€ looked like a sativa dominant hybrid. Itā€™s structure actually reminded me of the World of Seeds ā€œColombian Goldā€ I grew that is apparently a C. Gold x Skunk #1 in reality
