The Central American landrace and heirloom thread (Part 1)

Both of the quotes you posted are from DJ Short. I’m not sure where the second paragraph in your first post came from, but the rest, from both posts, is from DJ’s article “Strains of Yesteryear” (which you linked to). None of the stuff you quoted was written by Bodhi.

I highly recommend reading that entire article, though, it’s very informative. I’ve read it at least 500 times, pretty much have it committed to memory at this point.

@minitiger The second paragraph from the first post was copied directly from the strain description that was posted on ColoradoSativas website. I had to use the internet’s “wayback machine” to obtain it, as the seeds are no longer available. But i have read that description elsewhere as well and believe it was written by Bodhi.
I am guessing that Bodhi received his AlterEgo Oaxaca seeds from DJShort, as it makes sense to me, but it’s only a guess.

Ah, that makes sense. I’ve seen that site, the strain description was written by DJ Short, but Colorado inexplicably attributed it to Bodhi, no idea why. But yeah, dude, all of the stuff you posted was written by DJ Short. Just look at the writing style. Not to mention, the first paragraph in the first “Bodhi description” you posted from ColoradoSativas’ website is lifted word-for-word from the “Strains of Yesteryear” article you quoted in your second post.

Whether or not Bodhi got some Highland Gold seeds from DJ, I have no idea, but Bodhi did not write any of the stuff you quoted. If I had to guess, I’d say that Bodhi probably got his Oaxaca seeds on one of his many seed-collecting trips, especially because DJ isn’t exactly the sharing type haha (see: any of his many threats to sue people who use his work).

Sorry, I’m not trying to be all like,”Nuh uh! You’re wrong!” but this is how “strain confusion” gets started. And there’s enough of that out there already…

I’ll just have to grow some outside next summer and see how it compares to the Cryptic Lab Oaxaca I’m growing this summer. I love science. :grinning:

I get increasingly worried that legalization is going to enable this type of behavior. I imagine it wont be long before Potsanto can buy the land next to yours, seed your crop with pollen pollution and then sue you for stealing their patents. Imagine seed run co-ops being treated like music piracy :frowning:

Except Monsanto specializes in seeds that turn into plants that can’t reproduce; it’s how they’ve gouged farmers in the Midwest for decades now, forcing them to buy new seeds every year. I doubt they’d grow male plants that produce viable pollen.

But I’m sure they’ll figure out another way to fuck everybody. That’s what they do.

I had originally thought his listing of that one was from here:

http://www.socalseedvault.com/store/index.php?id_product=208&controller=product

It’s the only Alter Ego HOG reference I could find and thought maybe CS just lifted someone else’s description since the one linked above is not such a great one imo. The only Oaxacan reference I could find with regards to Bodhi are his seeds aquired from Zipolite.

So, my Red Snake #2 twin turned out to be male on the large side and he got culled last week. The smaller side is a female though. Pretty wild, and so I guess fraternal twins are possible…at any rate, this girl is rapidly developing and I up potted her just last week to encourage growth. She has the typical Red Snake structure of my favorite #2 plant complete with the droopy leaves and spindly wispy habit. So my seeds seem to breed pretty true so far.

I’m planning a visit to Colombia again …beginning early 2023 ( when @old Ron’s grow is finished)

Santa Marta visit was a waste of time …as I was younger then.

My plans are to head to the Gulf of Aruba to so if the Red Point is still around… Carpunga.

Also to see if the Jungle Choca weed is still around in …bueno Aventura. ( dangerous place )
