Yeah, the Oaxacas can get pretty big.

I figure i have enough here to get a little crazy so i am trying to girdle a couple of branches. Trying two different methods. On this one, i scraped the outer layer of bark with a box cutter

And on this branch i simply applied a wire twist tie and twisted it real tight.

Here’s the Oaxaca in the raised bed[and a scraggly, sun-starved PTB in the lower right hand corner :grinning:]

And a few of her flowers :grinning:
Trichomes are a mix of clear and cloudy.

There’s a big monsoon storm moving in. I know she’s going to get thrashed. I am hoping she survives it unscathed.

Here’s the Oaxaca in the bucket

And some of her flowers :grinning:

I’m beginning to see some amber trichomes and I plan to start chopping a few branches this week. I like to harvest in stages so i can compare.

There’s a big difference in size between the raised bed plants and the ones in the buckets. Those are 7 gallon buckets, but the raised bed plants really put them to shame. It’s even more stark with the Mulanjes.

Anyone know if cryptic plans on releasing anymore of the oaxacans any time soon? Been waiting a while for restock at glg. Really regret not grabbing them when the chance presented itself.

Big thanks to all posting and contributing to this thread.

I am from Colombia, from Medellín, I was born in the late 70s and I had never heard that variety.
In Rio Negro it has never been cultivated commercially. it rains a lot, it’s cold, very humid and they are lands of powerful (goverment, landlords, narcos) people with a lot of money.
I have no doubt that there are amateurs who grow crops in Río Negro as in any other part of the world.

Santa Marta is very touristic, it is no longer planted commercially, only cripa (hybrids) for tourists and wealthy people.
Capurgana maybe, I wouldn’t bother and go straight to Buenaventura and Corinto, which is the department of Cauca.
Punto rojo and brick weed is for the locals, most people in Colombia do not have money to buy indoor or hybrid weed, that is very expensive, in any non-tourist town or low/middle class neighborhoods you can find good brick weed.

Whaa… Great to here from you… And I’m pleased to meet a grower from Colombia a place I love.
I’m a Scotsman who lives in Panama.

Ye I’ve sussed that out… I try to get info on Colombian weed… I knew Rio Negro was circa Medallin and the airport… Maybe it’s like someone grew a Colombian gold in the area and gave it that name… (was surprised to see it cataloged in a book…)

Ye centennial seeds don’t seem to exist…says a lot about seedbanks…full of dis imformation.

Thanks so much for your reply… And keep in touch.

I probably agree… I live in Panama and have visited Colombia lots… I knew Rio Negro was circa Medallin…

I’m just surprised it’s in a published book about Sativa strains…

It’s all mixed up in Colombia (a country I love) as well as in Panama… The lanraces… Might be in pockets somewhere. But at the back of my mind… They all contaminated…

Thanks for your response.

Are you still in Colombia

Ye it’s all messed up…same in Panama and even Costa Rica.

I must admit I did like Santa Marta and Taganga …but was all Crispi or creepy what ever way you understood the language…but did get a taste of the Choco weed In a Medellin…

Cali was ok but could have been better, there is a lot of animosity to foreigners…but was Crispi there etc… ( did try to get to Corinto but was told was a bad time to visit…and the guy who run tours there was in jail…ja ja .

Ye a visit again planned as flights are cheap from Panama…Leticia seems to draw me…as we are near the three borders, Brazil, Ecuador, y Peru…lives a adventure….and Colombia is such a beautiful place…with a incredible culture.
With beautiful People.
Thanks for the reply
