The Central American landrace and heirloom thread (Part 1)

Great info, and very interesting. I grew up on a large commercial dairy farm in the early 80s’. We had several Mexicans working on the farm, but I never learned where they came from. They all either smoked or made tinctures for pain meds. Super nice and very hard working people…I always enjoyed talking with them.

I think times have changed, and people become interested in what they have experience with.

Most dispensary weed is relaxing and has a disassociating high. Probably half of all potheads are gamers. It helps immerse yourself in a different world. Relax after work and forget the day.

Then there are carts, which might lack a certain soul to the high, but they are discreet and pure thc gives a pretty upbeat high. It is what most people take with them when they are running around town or out with friends and it is what passes for sativa and it’s uses.

Man, all this Oaxaca talk is making me hungry. Last time I was in LA we ate at Guelaguetza… twice. Really solid Oaxacan food.

For anyone not near LA who wants a taste, they ship mole paste and some other pantry items.

Edit: before we went I was smoking a joint of Mango Biche. It was the first and only time I’ve ever been to a dispo in Cali and it was the only thing on the shelf that really caught my attention. The guy pretty much made fun of me for buying it, and was trying to sell me some bullshit Oreo candy something with a z extract infused preroll bullshit instead. I was like “I’m good with this”

Wasn’t the highest quality, but not bad at all. Smoked another one before going to see Guided By Voices that night.

Then we went back for lunch the next day

In my undergrad years I worked in a mattress factory in Texas. I operated and maintained the quilting machine and was the only gringo out on the floor, with about 20 Hispanic men and women building mattresses. After about a year they see I work like they do and they ask me to join them for lunch. The most urbane among them took me out one night and we burned a matchstick size pinner that had me howling at the moon. Oily and almost nasty. He didn’t grow but he knew someone.

I’ve heard both names. This was Montgomery mattress in Wichita Falls. We had a contact for Sam’s the years I was there. Flat tar roof, no a/c you know the drill. lol

I see they are out of stock with no plans to reproduce these anytime soon. You’re not making any seeds by chance are ya? Looking forward to the smoke report. The effects sounded really nice with some samples testing with around 2% CBG.

GBV, just about my favorite band, hehe…I’ve seen them three times. New Haven in the early 90’s…never saw someone pound beers like that though, amazing Bob is still alive. I just learned Game of Pricks on guitar a couple of months ago.

Got 4 outta 7 Oaxacan seeds to pop from @Upstate Gonna grow these for a couple of months indoors before moving them outside.

This little one was the 1st to pop up and has stayed small.

Here is another shot of it.

And this is the largest of the 4.

not sure on making any seeds. i just have one more seed that is fem. i would have to something quite unorthodox to pull it off. if i get any seeds it probably from the durban poison sitting next to it which threw a single nanner on each of three of the tops. if i missed one, we might get a baby. i think they still have one or two crosses that use tikal. Dubbi said that they were going to release it again, but not too soon as they lost some of their grow space (don’t recall why). i will report back. it grew super fast compared to the others, but it’s super leafy. the trim is not going to be fun. buds are fairly big, but not dense at all…almost stemy. smells are sour/peachy. i guess i understand the incense part too, but it could all change in the cure. Initially, it was all canned peaches. it may look better than the bubble i have, but it’s not as good looking as anything else though.

Is this the Punta Cometa originally from Snowhigh? Looking great.

Excited to see what you get from these. Are you planning to put them in ground or just some large pots?

I was just (half) kidding with you. I picked up a 10 pack of regs from multiversebeans to try them out. Figured might as well jump on them as they may never be restocked just like they never did with the pure Guatemalan line that they used to sell. I believe it’s the same Guatemalan that was used to make Tikal but I think Dubi said the same thing about freeing up resources for other projects at the time.
