The Central American landrace and heirloom thread (Part 1)

I grew a few Bangi Haze out in the bush several years ago, but I was spotted shortly after visiting by some kids and never went back. They were growing like Champs the last I saw them. I’ll be interested to see how yours does. Supposed to be a very electric buzz for such a short flowering variety. Great branching on them.
Ahhh. Green Mt. Seed company zacatecas tribute. I’ll bet I checked every day for 6 months for that one but it was always out of stock. That guys stuff sells out real quick. I’d love to get my hands on his oaxacan. Sounds like an epic yielder

Did you Pop That Bodhi Acapulco? I saw one on Instagram that goes 18 weeks. Looked incredible. Great description too. Sounded like a superb high, and phenomenal taste.

Ran her to about 14 weeks and had to abandon early, whispy like wheat, smoke after long cure is like popcorn, with a little burnt edge, very cerebral buz. Even with 2500 watts I don’t think they would have finished fully, Little too airy for my taste but it was premie. Looking at it as breeding stock for the back cross of the Brutal Paw to Monkey Paw. Also need the CG and those are the super sprouts.

Definitely looks all sativa. I thought you were going to give them another go for some reason. I know there’s some special plants to be found in that gene pool. Definitely some good breeding material for sure! How many more weeks do you think it would have gone? Flavor and potency probably would have been improved a bit, but it’s probably never going to be a great yielder

Do you have any more of those seeds? By all means, plop a few in soil and grow some more!

I think the difference we are seeing these days in the quality of some of the landrace’s, is the amount of work that’s gone into breeding with them. There were major breeding projects back in the 70s, and in growing massive quantities of these landrace’s, the very best of them was able to be pulled out. Perhaps some day in the future we will be able to enjoy the oaxacan everyone else used to have. The Wahoo!can

YES. That’s exactly what mine taste like. It’s exactly like slightly burned popcorn on the inhale. Mango/carrot smell too, but when you apply heat instantly tastes like popcorn.

I love the high, but it’s not a fun plant to grow indoors.

Surely; They didn’t find them all my friend.

May give it another run when I’m ready to bx the Brutal Paw. Have good selection and F2’seeds on the way. That’s the goal this year. Happy to put the AG in my “ have grown” file As it’s Truly a foundation Cultivar of the strains that we all love so much. I don’t think I could finish outside w/o hauling it inside through the new year…lol.

The DTHFII are nice Sativa spear plants, very stretchy and strong structure. These two were flowered same time. (@Guitarzan I found out the 2 designation does not mean F2 it is the DTHF x C-99) I’d say the left one is at least 2 weeks ahead of the other two which are taller and took almost three weeks to show on flip. I took clones of the fast plant and will find a shorter male to breed with so the tent growers can run this great strain more comfortably as it’s a stretcher.

Okay, I gotta get moving on this project. I have Panama Red (supposedly), and random Mexican from a good while back. I did get to see one plant that my friend grew and it was really nice looking sativa all the way. He said it was stinking up his property like skunk but lost it to frost as he lives in a high elevation spot. So, he gave them to me.

The very first weed I smoked was Michoacán, in 1971. It was brick weed. These seeds all came from an older guy in a black film can so I think they are legit. I have to coax them as they are hard to germ. I got a PR germed and into flower but lost it to neglect while I was away for work. I haven’t gotten any Mexi to pop yet but I think that was my fault.

I’m going to look for them now. You guys got me in the mood! Nice looking pics above, too. peace

Do it @GMan, the suspense is killing me! You may be sitting on gold. I cant remember what Panama you have…do you know the flowering time? The Snowhigh Panama finally showed up, and I’ll be germinating them this week. It would be nice to see another one for comparison.
@Who gave me some seeds from the 70’s to try, and Ill be giving them a try as well.

@upstate
Congratulations on the initiative … I will follow closely, I hope I can help.

I also take the opportunity to ask for help. In my guerrilla, I did a seed rescue, therefore, I don’t have information about them … I would like to publish the photos to discuss the characteristics … Could it be?

@Gugumelo …by all means, put up those photos here (if thats what you meant). Here’s the little Oaxacans at a month plus of age. Poor little things suffered in a picture window for( more than) three weeks with no sun while I dialed in my room. They are under flourescents now, and finally growing.
