The Cursed 5x5 (Aussie Yettis Grow Diary)

Hey from the other side of the world.

I’m a really new grower, started about 5 months ago first run failed due to heaps of things, but I learned tonnes (mainly that I wanted to run DWC systems).

I have two tents up at the moment, my 4x4 is about 2 weeks from first harvest so I am super excited.

This thread is about my 5x5.

The first run failed in here, but most of that was me being super green, not getting fem seeds and having a massive cloud of pollen in the tent when I missed a set of balls.

So I built a RDWC system that took me ages to get running, and then two of the young plants had this weird growth defect under their huge first true leaves.

So I gave the two strong plants another 2 weeks growth and today I have chopped the two strong girls into clones and they are in the aerocloner getting ready for next week when I will reset the system (this time with 8 net pots) and have another crack.

I will post updates in the coming days and weeks!

Welcome to OG @AussieYetti. Running 2 big tents when you are just starting up is very ambitious.

Congratulations on the upcoming harvest. What are you growing in the 4x4?

Be following this one intersted in the rdwc as the single bucket dwc was annoying lol

These three cuttings got transplanted into gallon pots with a coco/perlite mix.
I am going to get them going on a pretty aggressive regime so I can take cuttings in a month or so.

Aaaannnnndddd we’re back!

Lot’s going on over this side of the world. But in the 5x5, not much!
Those cuttings are absolutely huge now, but I’m scared of taking cuttings because my last try didn’t take and I lost some good genetics.

Anywho, enough of that and check this shit out.

Something that can really piss me right off is wasting nutes getting cuttings or seedlings up to full strength. not just that but it wastes water.
So I got a big ol’ hole saw (132mm is the correct size for 140mm net pots FYI) and nearly broke my wrist cutting out 8 holes on this 25l tote.

I have a 2 port air pump that I am running these 2 400mm air stones. The idea is to get the roots down and into water before transplanting them into the 5x5 and its big 140l system (which is having some modifications done to it as we speak).

The cool thing is that this lid size fits three different sized totes, 25, 45 and 65l respectively. So you could even really get some small plants going hard before moving them.

Always good to have a few different tools in your arsenal.

These cuttings are from a mate, we have Pecan Pie and Slurricane

Since you in water just build and try one of these for cuttings I get 98-100% strike rate and they pretty stress free I only ever ph the water once :joy:

Thanks mate. I should of mentioned that these are all rooted. I have an aerocloner for cloning, but had a bad first run!

Oh yea never got to the aero cloner that was the next buy if that thing didn’t work cost all of $30

What am looking at kiwi? Do you have an air stone in there?

Yea a square plastic tote with a polystyrene floating tray then air pump air stone and a heater then I cut dip and stick into rockwool put the cubes in the holes and walk away comeback couple weeks later to roots
