A plant with whorled phyllotaxy is not necessarily a polyploid. In fact, it would be impossible to determine if it is a polyploid without actually genetically testing the plant.
True, whorled phyllotaxy is only expressed on the main meristem though right? I had thought this was different with polyploid plants?
Actually this reminds me of a paper I read the other day on this that I thought may be of interest if you are breeding for higher CBD levels.
Itās a research paper on Oryzalin treatments to Induce polyploids in cannabis and includes all the protocols and testing results. Interestingly the most significant findings are significantly higher CBD and altered terpene levels and ratios when compared to the donor mother. They use oryzalin to treat exoplants, as opposed to using seeds as is normally the case with colchicineā¦
