I’ll re-pipe what he said tomorrow, my eyes feel like they are filled with sand. I think it was insightful I’ll digest it in my mind, see what it has to say.

Tell me what i’ve got to do to test. I have 4 or 5 different live hash in the freezer all dried

Test for dryness? Crumble it with your finger tip in the freezer.
Test for goodness? rip it in a quartz banger or something ceramic at least!

I mean testing the live hash melting at room temperature. Should I just plop some hash dust on parchment and bring it in? Put it in a sealed container and then bring it in to room temp? I’m concerned about condensation forming on it if I just bring it right in uncovered from the freezer

Oh I just trot it out on a piece of parchment. If it’s wet, it’ll color change really quick like 5 min.

Ok so Marcus “bubbleman” said the only way to stabilize the hash is whip and heat to convert thca and crystallize the thc. mmm what else, oh yah. The freezer keeps the color from changing, room temps change it with oxidation. Said the terpenes will crystallize the THC like you are using butane to make diamonds.
So, he basically confirmed what I suspected. Ain’t Nobody Doin’ It! That means nobody can claim I didn’t think it up awwwwl by myself.

lol and anyone who still thinks I didn’t even talk to him about it…
You know where dinner hangs

Been out for 4 hours. Didn’t crush it all into powder I guess but what did become powder stayed. Smells super good. I’ll still be keeping it in the freezer but cool to know it keeps its form.

Yah if you leave that out over night it should be the same in the morning. The bizarre part is you can crush it into a pliable layer with just a little pressure even after it’s stable.

I’ve got 4 more days before I declare the hash is stable! Fucking exciting! I can’t wait to lay waste to the hash makers at the contest! rubs his hands together They won’t know what hit them this year!

And now you can focus on finding more hashplants! Hit them with variety next year. A small concentrates jar with dividers like a multi-spice jar so you can hand them 4 or 6 things at once! All little piles of trichomes

That’s actually the sketchiest part right? When I’m dabbing the hash and pondering if that batch is gold, or just another hunk of crap that I’m fooling myself. Everyone likes different shit? For starters… I’ve never made a shitty batch of hash from a good producer. Not sure why, but the shitty producers, always make shitty hash lol!
This is the thought that goes through my mind… oh and it’s a stupid one. If I could write down the name of the prize winning buds, then get that strain and make hash, could it be gold squared? The answer is Probably Not. I tried that 3 years ago and it was terrible.
So what I do, is get these people known as “Guinea Pigs”, and let them have a gnarl. That’s part of the process.

I think a good hashplant would be any that wash cleanly, yield satisfactorily, and melt well. Beyond that for hash to be great will definitely be subjective. Comes down to the taste and high one is looking for.

There’s the stabilized trichomes, pressed into a thin sheet and scooped up on the honeybun.

There are two different piles here. Big bud and Meat breath. So I mixed them together! Very powdery. If the parchment paper pops up it sprays trichome caps all over the lab.

lol I just produced a bunch of blurry hash porn. It wasn’t as good as the flattened trichomes on the end of the scoop. That photo is amazing! One time I’ll get some hash and just make a light sprinkle on the parchment. Then I can scoop up some hash that is as clear as a pane from a window. I’m having fun playing with it wheeeeeeee!

I’m also doing the test where I take a pile of trichome caps, then add water. Once they are dried out and won’t change color, can I just add more water and make the change happen?

So does yours stay dry and powdery? Mine seems to have kept its appearance but its definitely super sticky and doesn’t move from the parchment

Yah it dries up and stays that way. I can run my finger through the fine powder on the teflon, and it gathers up on my finger. The teflon is just sitting there on the shelf. Lemme get a photo!

So here it is, and that’s been sitting around for a couple of days.

I use my finger to sweep the dust into a little pile, while some sticks to the end of my finger. You can see it’s fairly powdery right now.

I press my finger on the pile of dust and it all sticks to itself, and my finger tip.

Roll it into a nerd it’s sticky as hell now.

There’s the nerd, resting where the pile of dust used to be.

Maybe mine isn’t dried enough…turns to a nice powder in the freezer. Can dab it with no sizzle
