The Threat of Oxidation to Cannabis Compounds

It’s pretty simply. Oxidation happens at a faster rate than thermal even at room temp. :+1:

And oxidation will occur slower at lower temperatures, so how does increasing the temperature benefit drying and curing if oxidation is the enemy of a good dry and cure?

I don’t know the answer to that maybe the seller could answer that one ?

Your test results do not show an elevated level of CBN in the “Hang Dried” buds, which according to your principles of oxidation, should occur.

If someone were to actually go to the QR Code on the tests, there is another page showing the plants had a severe Thrip problem and other pests indicated by the last page of the test.

So you are making claims using data from moldy, pest infected plants. I am all for new information, but please provide usable data if you are going to make claims.

From the Michigan website…

“In August, the MRA determined the safety and health of customers and employees was jeopardized by Iron Laboratories’ continued operations. As a result, the MRA took emergency action and issued a formal complaint and summary suspension of the facility’s license for alleged violations related to Iron Laboratories’ testing and reporting results for pesticides, yeasts and molds (microbials), and THC content.”

Sample date was just before they were basically put out of business.

and the reports look funky too. Says Page 1 of 3 and there are 4 pages. Two of the pages are 3 of 3. Interestingly enough the 4th page is the Pest/Mold page.

California has made me skeptical of all laboratories. There are good ones with integrity though. It doesn’t hurt to do a quick search for “name state violations.”

As you should be skeptical of ‘labs’ that regularly put out wildly inaccurate tests. We can totally accurately test for cannabinoids but for whatever reason the Cali labs are just plain wrong, consistently higher than reality. My local dispensary sells 40% THC bud. I’ve bought some, smoked like it was in the low teens.

This thread is cracking me up to no end. This herbs dryer guy is alienating his customer base one post at a time. I actually like using a forced air dryer but there is no way in hell id argue it’s better than a slow dry.

There is no difference. Good luck getting an answer from him though. He CAN"T answer that question to his own liking, so he won’t answer is my bet.

Does anyone know how labs standardize for moisture content in the bud when testing potency?

Thank you @Stu420 , I read that article a while back, and based on it tried chopping up my plant into smaller pieces to hang dry and arranging them try to dry more quickly and evenly. It gave me great results, I won’t be going back. Thanks for putting the article link, I was just about to try to find it for a relevant contribution.

@HerbsNOW you have in my opinion been remarkably unpleasant to folks in this conversation. While that is not grounds for any forum action, I’d like to join others in providing the negative feedback that because of your behavior I won’t be purchasing anything from you, ever. The fact that talking about a purchase of your product seems appropriate in a Basic Growing Info thread you started says a lot I think.

@moderators I feel @HerbsNOW has crossed the “sales thread” line here and request you please take a look.

I clicked on this thread to read additional info about this interesting topic.

Instead, I read a “teaser” type post, which as someone who works with LLMs such as ChatGPT a lot seems to have been written by one. It seems to offer some good basic info, then general info, then slides off target to make generalizations about the cannabis industry.

Next I got to read a bunch of argumentative amd self-contradictory sales pitch from him about his product, and rude comments to my fellow forum members.

This is not the sort of thoughtful and informative discussion that I expect here. My understanding is that a topic in Basic Growing Info should be an open discussion, where anyone can share their thoughts and contribute to the discussion without the author trying to shout down any disagreement.

All states have different requirements for this.

The answer for California is here

That’s a good question. I don’t know the answer but it is my understanding that in measuring a strain for potency/THC, the dryer the weed the better the test result. This was told to me by the person that owns/runs a testing facility.
If that is truly the case then there should be a universal standard for moisture at test time.

Great comment and I 100% agree!
I clicked yesterday because of the clickbait title and it being a “basic growing info” thread, only to see this guy making a total fool of himself and ostracizing the community, plus just being straight up mean and rude.
Absolutely no way to sell a product, or even start a positive discussion around it
