Are/Were they Fungus gnats?
These are those flying aphids ! They were on my bucket this morning and one squirt of a fine mist of JWA and they all died!
Hereās a google pic of one!
Little tiny fuckers!
They look very similar at first glance the big difference is the posterior tail pipes set of three appendages on their hind end!
We have a lot of fungus gnats, I guess. Those have bigger wings. Lots of damn mosquitos this year, too.
What is JWA again? I need some industrial stuff for emergencies. I feel like this could be the year of the bug. I bought some of the spinosad, but it seems limited.
Your colas are looking great bro. I love this time of year. My outdoor stuff is turning on way faster than I expected. Some are downright fat already. Iām with you on the afternoon sun and I love the morning sun, on the plants. Sublime, to me.
Jadam wetting agent = homemade soap using potassium hydroxide and canola oil and water. Very easy to make! Iād made 1 gallon plus for like around 5-6$
Ratios pleaseā¦
Iāve heard hot peppers mushed strained and sprayed will take care of them also.
Hey @OleReynard and @GMan thanks for stopping in all the ingredients ratios and procedures can be found starting at post #98 -107 of this thread use soft or distilled water throughout the entire process careful with KOH and when adding to water get yourself a Pyrex container that can handle the heat ! Using little stick handheld blenders Iād advise against it will probably burn them out!
Iām pretty sure I asked you this before, so thanks. I tend to go through these threads in rapid fire fashion so it tends to fog over some days.
I seem to be getting more damage on some leaves but I can never see anything on the leaves or underneath. Iām pretty sure its only leafhoppers and they donāt seem to do any more than make the leaves look rough.
I had a few thrips for a minute but the wasps didnāt let them stay around long. Iām worried about a month from now when the wasps and other beneficial bugs start disappearing. Thatās when the aphids can explode on you fast.
I need to get these ingredients when i get paid this week. I want to have it on hand. Thanks again
Birds eye view of the ladies below! Itās looking like the 4x4 box is supporting at least a 6x6 canopy now
So Iv made a simple observation over the last few days and have noticed aphids attracted to my orange bucket in the early mornings hence the addition of the sticky traps just put the bucket up on top of the scrog net now and will make more observations over the next few days ā¦ shit I may just make my Home Depot bucket a sticky trap itās self by smearing some honey on the tops and sides! What you all think? Any thing else can be substituted for a sticky substance?
As a side note itās a great idea to shake your plants to roust the aphids to get them to land on the traps!
Iv noticed wasps also hanging around in flowers and such wondering if they are assisting in pest removal as well I know some wasps do this but these looking like the standard wasp to me.
Probably pollinating
Mine are mostly European Paper wasps. Once I read about them I love them and theyāre not aggressive at all. They are great predators. Problem is when they leave in early fall, the aphids explode.
Maybe even add a weak night light!
Vaseline baby!
Oh hell I like that idea! Maybe Iāll smear some down the side! And compare effectiveness! Great tip @cannabissequoia
Well here ya go @cannabissequoia going to check out some yellow solo cups now!
I like the video towards the ends as well when smashing them and dabbing the guts on other parts of the plants sends alarm pheromones to others saying ā letās get the fuck outta hereā!
