Some say water cure for a week or freezing it also stops any small impurities from the rot. I’m gonna experiment and try a few of these out , also trying lims/sulphur spray on a plant with only small areas of rot, I know it well affect the taste of the bud but was gonna trash this plant anyways. The browning of the pistils makes it harder to tell whats what as well, its an interesting area as there seems to be strong differences of opinion everywhere from wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole to "mehhh "…
Using moldy bud usually comes down to one thing… is that your only pot! Lol. Pretty sure the resin itself is anti fungal. If i have a great harvest i wont consider using it. If my harvest was only ok, i consider it. If i dream of smoking a special bud for a month or more and it molds on me at the end i may just smoke that one to teach the others a lesson😉
Thats it. Marijuana grow bible.
A few people here wash buds just seems alien to me though.
But the people doing are far from idiots so maybe they can help? I know @Meesh does this
I know people do things known as a water cure but I only used it to fix harsh buds.
Might be that then?
I use the salad toss method if it’s mouldy toss it far away with a enough good bud to keep infection away
Good call on that one OleReynard. I can remember a couple from a while back. Not sure if they are still going or not. Vancouver Island Seed Co. Next generation seeds. Bc bud depot ( tried them years ago. It was all shit for me ) Can anyone remember some others? Super wet near Vancouver. Strong genetics. I think their fall stays frost free longer than many areas at that latitude,(50 N) so some of their strains can go late if you live as far north as them. Subtract 2-3 days from their harvest date per degree of latitude as you travel south and add the same per degree of latitude north to find the finishing time in your area. VISC Burmese was supposed to be good. Island sweet skunk too. I heard monsanto bought their genetics though. They still around?
Great idea! Sneaky. I loooove sneaky lol. Do you tie the plants down? Here the crops are either hay or alfalfa, which get cut more than once, or corn. Are you doing this in cornfields?
Can you give a before and after example of what you started with and what you ended up with?
It’s literally re hydrating and then drying and curing properly. I bought some smoke and it was harsh and unsmokable. I put it in a jar completely submerged in water and changed the water daily for 7 days then proceeded as if I had just taken it off a freshly cut plant. It of course reduced it’s potency but I wasn’t gagging and coughing after every toke.
It obviously washes it a little so it may remove some impurities or it may not.
I used water straight from the tap.
How does everyone harvest and dry in a wet humid climate? Any tricks? I harvest by necessity when the plants are dry. Dew hangs on thru early morning in the fall so i wait until thats burned off. . I cut the colas off intact if they will fit in a walmart bag,( resin doesn’t stick to this type of plastic) and fold them in half if they are too big. I try to avoid any squishing/ compressing of nugs as this traps any leftover moisture inside. Look over everything really quickly and remove any large sections of rot if i have them. If there are buds with mutiple small sections of rot these go in a separate bag to be dealt with as quickly as possible when i get home. If its too moldy it gets tossed but if more than 50% or so is good, I will be making hash with it from now on. It goes into the freezer until I’m ready. I mentioned wal mart type plastic bags which are no longer sold in my area. What do you all use? I will have to find something new at some point. Once hung, on coat hangers, i use a fan to dry any sweat moisture off the buds, but only as long as needed. Stuff prone to mold gets a higher initial drying temp than buds that are resistant.
With harvest in the past I harvest when trichs are ready or when it moulds. it doesn’t matter wether it’s raining or sunny. Remove fan leafs immediately and Give it a quick trim then Give it a shake to remove what drops I can then inspect and cut off from the main stem into a preferably fabric bag as it absorbs some of the moisture if wet. Straight to my drying area and onto cardboard or mesh or hanging. Dehumidifier on and fan on for the first few hours and watch the reader then tune it to 40-60 rh depending on how wet they are how fast they dry with lots of attention and moving them about to not flatten anything.
Mould is tossed at the site to enrich the soil for next round.
Cornfields are much different than Soybean fields.
Soybeans grow with the MJ and don’t get as tall as corn does.
Corn you almost have to knock a bit down, otherwise the corn will nose the MJ out for height.
Most people I know who.plant the card, go out to the middle of the fields.
Plant them fence lines also.
I’ve been worried about planting the fence lines. You haven’t had issues with theft that way? I definitely like the idea. Are you harvesting before the farmer does I’m guessing? Maybe if I try some different varieties that come in earlier it will change things a bit for me. Lots of new options out there. I remember the early Pearl and there was another couple you mentioned that I recognize from back in the day.
Choppers fly the cornfields real heavy by us. The valleys are narrow, and most of the corn fields in the highlands are now gone. Really just the main Valley and a few side areas still get heavily planted in corn.
i would find a old growth oak forest pull back the new falling leaves harvest what under you will not find any better free soil might be a little acid on the ph scale nothin a attle dolomite lime will not fix
Those top couple inches of forest soil sure are magical. good microbes in there as well as plenty of hummus. Not so sure about oak leaves, because I don’t run into them often, but maple leaves make great Mulch, and they really can change soil fast if they are dug in a month or two before planting. Fixes clay soil.
Yeah I figure the older the woodland and less kept it is the better the soil will be.
yea i think most any old forest floor mulch would do the trick safe growing hide from rippers tell no 1 not even people you trust i told my couisin 1 day and showed him the next day my plant where gone hell they were still in veg no signs of bud @ all that when u now the rippers now nuthin about growing and or despeart if they want to smoke fan leaves
Never lost a plant that i hadn’t shown to somebody. Sad truth. Sneaky is best.
lose lips sinks ships or in our case plants
