Tony Green GG4 R.I.L. FEMS - Grow Log

Is there something special about the gold packs? I see that Great Lakes has the GG#4 RIL in stock.

The gold packs are feminized. I think that is the only difference.

New light coming in 3 days.
Gonna move the 3 shorties to a 2x4 that I was going to use for breeding.
-Don’t have any males, so no breeding for many moons from now.
There is so much plant material in the 5x5 that the humidity is presently out of control.
-Exhaust fan runs all “night” long trying to keep RH at 65%.
-The exhaust fan is 6 inch 400 CFM fan that should be overkill for a 5x5.
Setting up the AC infinity 2x4 tomorrow night.

Dr Zymes light drench, Fish Sh!t, Budswell, and Power Si feed tonight.
-3 Qts/plant. Pots good and heavy prior to watering. Soil on top dry.
-Planning on moving 1 gal/plant every 3 days soon.
–Feed nutes, feed enzymes/bio, just water with an overwater every other rotation. Not a flush just enough for good runoff in soil.

Mea Culpa note: I run 2 lights in the 5x5.
One of my timers has been flaky for the first 10 days of the flip.
I run lights on 7PM-7AM for temperature, and there’s been at least 4 times I found one light still on when it was not supposed to be.
Hopefully it won’t affect anything since transition is a transition, but worth mentioning.
That digital timer is in the penalty box for the time being. I don’t know if it is broken, or if it was my phat fingers. Running a mechanical timer for that one for now.

The stretch is real…
Had to break out the 2x4 breeder to make some room.
I usually wait until week 3 to clean out the spindly stuff, but there was so much lanky stems from the crowded tent I hacked a bunch out of the plants in the 5x5.
There’s a new Medic Grow Smart 8 with a fancy “Flower” button that adjusts the LEDs in there now.
The pic is at 40% so I don’t go blind; I’m running at 80% for the time being.
80% is pulling ~600 watts which is close to what I was pulling with the 2 TSL 2000s.
Lots of photons!
This is the first run that I have not had burned leaf tips; I think the fish sh!t and enzyme only step in my 3 step watering plan is responsible…
-Then again, these plants may just be using everything I am giving them, and they are really hungry for moar!!!

Gotta pay the cat tax.
Back in May he was hissing at me every time I got near him.
Now he is curling up on my lap…

Nice. Looking good, everyone seems happy to be a plant except the kitty… actually, I take that back, he looks comfortable enough to start putting down roots himself. Nice display on the light too, I guess that’s their 760W? I wonder how switching the spectrum works, on their website it looks like it just tones down the blue… unless it redirects the power to white/red LEDs elsewhere, seems like that would lower the max intensity during flower as well.

Flowers coming in strong.
Tents are running around 80F, so trying to keep RH at 55% because VPD.
Temps drop to 65F-ish during lights out; gonna be a challenge to get RH lower than 50% in a couple of weeks.
The fans are blowing at max at lights off as it is; I put in isolator earplugs this morning b/c the noise was too much…
These are THIRSTY.
In a 5 gal soil pot I usually drop in 1 gal of water/feed and have some runoff.
-wait 2 days and move to next watr type - feed. enzyme, plain old water.
I gave these 1.25 gals (may have been 1.5 gals, stoner maths…) and have negligible runoff.
Usually I’ll be pulling out a couple of pints out, but next to nothing the last 2 healthy waterings. I can see the RH% already blowing up, but it is not from water sitting in trays.
There is a change on these with the dirt.
Usually I run the 1 gal starters with FF happy frog.
The 5 gal up pot gets FF Ocean Forest usually.
This time FF Strawberry fields was brought into the mix and old dirt too.
I think it was 1 Ocean Forest, 2 old dirt, 3 Strawberry field mix.
-Guess I should have written that down 8^P

Thoughts…
Still in Fox Farm variety mix of their various dirt.
Changes to regular routine:
Quality genetics.
Extended use of General Organics Diamond Black (Humic Acid).
-Usually only use this the first couple of weeks of veg. Been feeding through the stretch this time. I think it may have slowed the stretch…no scientific proof of that.
Power Si - It is a spendy additive. 1 to 2 ml/gal.
Fish Sh!t - Spendy as above. 3-5 ml/gal.
PK booster - Terpinator - Have not had a chance to use this much because I only use it during enzyme feed. I don’t like using with a nute feed.
These GG4 R.I.L. have been the thirstiest and nute eating plants I have run since the beasts I ran in the mid 90s.
With my old Brazil Amazonia, Big Devil, and Pakistan Valley 1 gallon of feed/water every 3 days would be plenty with a decent runoff, and I have always had burnt leaf tips everywhere
These things are sucking up 1.25 gallons w/o any runoff every 48 hours.
-80% or so of the recommended box dose.
-Usually run 50% nute dose, enzyme feed, straight water. Wait 3 days between each.

There have been too many changes to the routine to tell which has made the biggest difference, but something has changed for the better just based on the water uptake.
Given that, hitting the right PVD and keeping RH down is really becoming a challenge
-Fans maxing out at lights out has me using earplugs because it is annoying as hell.
But these GG4 R.I.L. girls are going strong.

Enzyme feed:
Power Si 1-2 m;/gal
Recharge 1/2 tsp/gal
Budswell 4 ml/gal
CalMag 3 ml/gal - because CalMag…
Fish Sh!t 4 ml/gal
Dr Zymes 1.5 oz/gal - because gnats.
Terpinator 10 ml/gal - because I think PK booster is too much during regular NPK feed is too much.
Girls drank 5 quarts of this after being watered an equivalent amount 2 days ago in 5 gallon smart pots.
Temps 75-80F
RH shooting for 55% - ranging 55-70 depending.
Flowers B flowering…
This is from the 2x4
The trichs growing on sugar leaf stems already STINK.

The different environments in the 2 different tents is definitely making a physical difference in the plants.
The 2 shortest went into a 2x4x5; the other is 5x5x7.
-Why Infinity labels this tent as “642” is beyond me…
