Boy it’s been a while…but the testers model glues I remember came in tubes that were red/orange, or blue, or green too possibly. Each had different drying times and/or best uses but as a kid we just gooped up the glue no matter the flavor and sure enough we had the gluey fingers. Probably clothes and everything nearby, lol. Looking pretty dang good in here! Can’t wait for the eventual smoke report on that thing
I am pretty sure that I would have done a better job with the glue if I’d understood that it was designed to sort of cause the plastic models to melt and fuse together. Anyhow, I sometimes put so much on a given model that it wouldn’t look straight - because it had drooped a bit from the glue.
I finished the trim on Jammy - this time with a glove on - and then chopped her down and hung her to dry. I must take off a lot of the little sugar leaves because I am in a high humidity area and want to avoid bud rot.
Jammy did have her revenge upon me. Some of the leaves made it to the floor and they adhered to it. I had to use a little piece of plastic to lift the little leaves off the floor. Man, talk about sticky.
Her wet weight is .52lb or 8.32 ounces. I was a little surprised that the much shorter GG#4 weighed more, but we’ll see how it goes once they finish drying.
That’s awesome! I’d be pretty stoked.
Time Elapsed: 11 weeks
I am a day early because I’m travelling for a few days. I’ve been busy over the last week, harvesting GG#4, Jammy Dodgers, and some storm damage forced an early harvest of (the forgotten/unmentioned) Pure Michigan auto.
So the tent is now down to three lovely plants:
Left to right, they are Amnesia Zkittles (Fast Buds), the towering Strawberry Cough (Zamnesia), and the lovely Tropicana Cookies (Fast Buds).
I think that the two Fast Buds cultivars will finish up this week and that Strawberry Cough will go another two weeks. Sweet anticipation, I guess
Here are some bud shots, starting with Amnesia Zkittles:
Here is Strawberry Cough:
And finally, the colorful Tropicana Cookies:
You may have also have noticed that they are on wick-based watering platforms. The plants are basically over a basin of water with a rope wick carrying moisture to the cloth bags. I’ve experimented with this and I believe that I could be gone up to 8 days before the basins go dry - and probably 10 days before the plants start wilting.
Anyhow, they’ve been set-up to allow me to travel and they’ll just get lights 24 hours a day. I will saturate the bags with plain water just before I leave.
That tropicanna cookies looks delish.
Great harvest!!
Plants look happy and healthy!
You are making magic there, nice fat buds and I like your watering system! Thanks for posting!
I got back from my travels and found that the largest plant, Strawberry Cough, had an empty water reservoir and was looking a bit droopy. That one is a heavy drinker :). Good thing I was home on time!
Amnesia Zkittle got trimmed up and will be chopped right after I post this. The plant has an insane amount of fox-tailing going on and I wet trimmed about 1/3 of the nugs but have decided to stand pat on the remainder of the plant and just trim it once dry. Hopefully I avoid bud rot - we’ve not had as much rain and honestly I would prefer not to trim so close while wet.
Here is what she looks like now:
I finished the air dry on GG#4, trimmed the buds off of the stems, and then bagged into auto-humidity bags. The dry weight was something of a disappointment at 1.0 ounces. There were a number of large leafy dead spots that I trimmed out and I was aggressive about removing the leaves. It is a very nicely trimmed ounce that needs to cure for ~10 days before I try it out.
I have given a lot of thought to fox-tailing. Yeah, genetics is part if not most of it. It could also be lights. I ran at 100% - perhaps running at 75% would have reduced it quite a bit.
More likely, I probably need to do a better job managing my plants. Reduce the number of stems which would result in denser flowers that just don’t have room for fox-tailing. I think that my next auto-flower run will be a mix of main cola + 2 stems and main cola only plants.
Jammy Dodgers got trimmed off of the stems and went into humidity bags to cure. It was 9/10ths of an ounce. It dried down harder than any plant that I’ve seen but was super easy to finish-up. It left a light, gritty residue on my work tray - kinda like sugar, only finer.
Amnesia Zkittles’ wet weight was .78lb or 12.48oz. It is really wet, this plant didn’t get any water down time before being chopped. I have been so far off on guestimating dry weight that I think I’ll stop doing that.
Amnesia Zkittles dry weight was 1.25oz when it went into bags to cure. I’ll have numbers for Tropicana Cookies in a day or two.
Strawberry Cough is getting chopped down tomorrow which will be week 13.
Amnesia Zkittlez (Fast Buds) smoke report.
I should start by saying that I normally vape, but I’ve got everything needed to smoke. Anyone that smokes regularly knows that you sort of condition your lungs to the abuse.
I loaded up Amnesia Zkittlez (dry but uncured) into a brass pocket pipe - an inexpensive knock-off of a Proto Pipe - and had to settle for a grill lighter for fire. The amount of flame produced forced me to be really careful on inhales.
Anyhow, the first two pulls were nice and smooth which really surprised me. On the third pull I decided to go harder which was a mistake. I got it inhaled and held it, but the exhale started a coughing fit that lasted maybe 90 seconds. Anyhow, it was nice and smooth until I got greedy.
The effects of the smoke showed up really fast. Like within 3 minutes you could feel it. Well, see it. My vision was influenced, and things were more interesting to observe than they previously had been. I watched a bit of TV and continued to experience altered vision. As I drifted off to sleep, I got that pressed into the pillow feeling and observed that I was more fucked-up than I’ve been in a while. My sleep cycle was solid in part due to AZ.
I like this stuff a lot, but I would not put it in the functional category. This stuff is for when you want a different perspective, want to be high, and have the time and space to do it. It’s a psychedelic high and it might help creatives work, especially those that are into graphic arts.
I will come back and add more to this. We’ll see how it vapes once it finishes it’s cure.
Time Elapsed: 13 weeks
It’s chop day for the last autoflower cultivar Strawberry Cough by Zamnesia. She went the longest and is also the biggest in the tent. She has a good chance of producing the highest yield as well, but 13 weeks is a while.
Here she is, just a few minutes before getting chopped:
This will be it for weekly updates. I will come back with final yields and, once everyone is done, I’ll total it up. This was all grown in a 3’x2’ tent, so the numbers seem fine for the space used. Room for improvement, perhaps.
I will also post smoke reports as promised.
Strawberry Cough was .82lb wet cut, or 13.2 ounces. She’s been dry and unwatered for a few days, so there is that.
Damn, a nice haul anyhow and sounds like good smoke. Strawberry Cough? Does sound tasty. LMAO
It’s also a great daytime strain.
Daytime wake-n-bake usage is exactly what I am hoping to get from it. Zamnesia lists it at 15% THC, so I should be able to dial it in a little easier and get a nice, manageable low-grade effect going.
I think @Cannaology tested that Strawberry Cough clone, and I believe saw 19% THC. My son (a master grower) said that clone is able to post numbers<=25% I believe, depending on how well you dial in your grow. I’m not a great grower, so I’ll be happy with 19%.
(Sorry @Cannaology if I’m lying - I seem to recall you tested it and a Purple Canyon.)
Edit: I didn’t realize you were talking about an auto. If they’re getting 15%, that sounds fantastic to me and they did a great job. Let us know how she smokes - I might want to run some of those seeds.
I think that Zamnesia tends to be conservative when talking about THC levels so it might be ~17% if I’m lucky. I will report back about each strain.
