Coloidal Silver (CS) I’m not sure if it’s pet safe. A web search “is coloidal silver safe for pets?” shows some conflicting results. Most saying there are medicinal/therapeutic uses for dogs, but a few saying it’s not safe.

I’ve used CS topically on cuts and gargled dilute solution when I had sore throat.

Rodelization is letting the female flower for longer than usual until nanners pop out, and pollinating with those nanners. I haven’t tried to make fem seeds this way. I’ve read that results are better using CS or STS. I haven’t used STS either.

I used CS last winter for my first attempt at making fems. This is my second attempt.

I have used both CS and STS. The STS worked so much better. The CS worked, but not a ton of seed. The STS, when I used it, produced well over 5000 seeds from a single plant.

@BigMike55 Where did you acquire your sts? Did you prepare it yourself from dry chems, 2 part liquid, or you got a premixed solution ready for application?

It was given to me. But it was two dry chemicals that you mix with distilled water.
The thing that I liked about the STS is you only spray it a couple times over the course of a week. The CS you have to spray each day. Better if you spray twice a day for a couple weeks.
Now, in defense of CS, I did make my own CS generator and maybe did not leave it cooking long enuff.

I bought on Amazon a 240ppm CS solution made by Silver Mountain. It did the trick last year, but I would like the fewer applications for STS for sure.

@tracker can I pm you?

I think that’s what Johnny Potseed uses for his female seeds. But for me, the STS works best and is what I will use in the future.

I use colliodal silver. I spray at lights out, 4 days in a row, The first 4 days of flipping to 12-12. Three weeks later I have male flowers. It does not make a ton of seeds but maybe 50 +. I make my own and it costs nothing. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I have some dry chems to make STS on hand. They have been on the shelf for 2 years now. Not sure if they’re still good to use. Do you know if they stash good for a long time? They’ve been in a cool, dry, dark cabinet. Do you have a ChemE friend we can call for an expert opinion?

I don’t. But if its dry chemicals and stored well it should be good to use. I would try it.

Amazon sells “elite” 1 spray and done.
CS is multiple applications over a 4- 6 week time frame and must be sprayed daily. This is how I use to do it. Very tedious.
STS I think is 4-6 applications once per week.
Elite is expensive but only one spray. @JohnnyPotseed will vouch for it.
@joheimgrohen might be able to answer your storing question.

They’ll be fine. As long as the solution isn’t mixed and sitting out will last for YEARS. In solution however, they say it can lose efficacy but I’ve used 8 month old solution with no issue.

1 application every 4 days for 4 treatments is how i use STS. Normally by the 3rd application i can see sacs forming and by the 4th there’ll be no question.

Oh! And either treat them after lights out or take them out of from under the big lights treat them and let them dry completely (from the treatment) before putting them back under the big lights. Sts will burn your plants if they’re not dry.

Actually I’ll be mixing up some tonight tomorrow or Thursday just depends how I’m feeling when I get back from the hospital. Nothing wrong with me(that I know of) but Mrs. Grohen had to have emergency surgery. And we’re waitingfor the doctors to clear and release her.

Hope it is not serious. All the best, sending positive vibes.

Dude! Best wishes for the mrs.
I could not quite remember the routine for STS use. Do remember not doing it every day like the CS route. That was a PITA for the small amount of seeds I got. The STS worked great, less work, and WAY more beans. I don’t know about the pricing of the chemicals, I got it from someone free.

I hope Mrs. Grohen recovers quickly and completely.

All I heard was easy & 5000 seeds…lol Plus you already have the dry chemicals on hand (stored well too). If it was me I’d be picking up a gallon of distilled water asap… Just saying

Yeah, I’m going to dig those out and mix up a batch. I’ll apply CS daily until the STS is prepped. 1st priority is to hang some rigid foam board insulation.
