TrevorLahey's Low Budget Growing Part 5: "The Ghost and the Darkness"

Looks like nutrient from watering that got on the leaves and caused a bit of burn to me.

They are all growing, not as big as normal, but at least you will have something to smoke buddy.

That is how I pop all my seeds…coco in the holes, self watering mat underneath them. Always get near 100% poppage! Wish you good germ rate .I use the heat mat too…when it is cold like now

Say the word @TrevorLahey I’ll come thru with the garotte, have new plants in their place before anyone knows what’s what.

Bridgelux tent has some mutants but looks okay I guess. The domes are off now as the temps are now 24C and 60% RH that should be fine (I think)

As for the new seedlings, direct sewing worked great. The heatmat and dome has almost all of them up after only 3.5 days. Very impressed with these results as it’s way easier than soak and paper towel.

Today I stuck em under 8 bulbs of SiL in the closet.

I really dont know what the plan for these are lol, but I’ll have to find spots for them when they need to be up potted.

Hey man, glad you went with the direct sow.
My germ rates have went waaaaay up since I started just putting them straight into jiffy pellets or soil.
My thoughts on this is, that the paper towel method is better for older seeds to soften them up, but for relatively younger seeds, they really don’t need that and too much water gets absorbed.
Not sure if it’s true or not, just my beliefs as of late.

Best of luck with all the new babies!
I hope you find room for them all hehehe
You plan on doing some culling or is it SOG time?

I’ve always just thought the paper towel method was quicker, as I direct sow all my non cannabis plants and always noticed how it usually took a week or more to sprout alot of stuff. And my past attempts at direct sowing cannabis resulted in low germ rates. I’m sure the heatmat is incredibly beneficial as is the dome for lots of humidity.

And I’ll likely have to cull a few but im just going to jam them in wherever they fit as I have quite a bit of unfilled grow space as of late. Theres going to be alot of seeds started over the next month as I get things straightened out in the indoor grow and also prepare some photos for this years outdoor run.

Whatcha thinking about running for outdoor, this year?

Everything!! I’ve been blessed to have been given so many great strains I gotta use them up and am going to overgrow my heart out this year.

I want to try a patch of 50-100 autos too I think that would be neat and could harvest twice!

Still making plans on building a greenhouse to get me through the warmer months/light dep.

Wow Trevor you’re certainly going for it this year, your going to have a small farm running. Should be an impressive sight to see.

It should swell the jar bank a good bit and keep you self sufficient for a fair time.

That would be awesome to see a gorilla auto grow

I definitely want to have a good outdoor run this year and not have such a shitty september/Oct. Hopefully mother nature is on my side.

I’m still going over logistics, but basically I just plan on using high plant numbers to get more success this year.

Speaking of plant numbers…

Looks like a 100% germ rate with the heatmat/dome/direct sow and I would even guess they are further along than soaked/paper towel seeds would be after 4.5 days. Pretty sweet.

Thats pretty good, cant complain about 100%, they must really like a nice toasty warm bed to germ in.

For sure. And growing in general is better with warmer root zones obviously but seeing the difference first hand is truly believing if you know what I mean. Big revelations lol.

Made some shatter from my trim from last round today.

GTxSBR had a really good return, and if you look closely you can see little streaks of pink and purple.

The Dark Spark also had a good return, more than I’m used to for the trim at least. But look at the purple bands!

Funny, I’ve never even tried to germ seeds any other way then directly and in the sun. All I know is that for cannabis it takes them approx 4 days to germ. lol Couldn’t tell you what my actual germ rate is. It’s usually pretty good. Most noncannabis seeds take much longer, some up to 3 weeks. I believe my strawberry seeds were the longest at about 4 weeks.
