No worries. It would just be strange to see them roll out some huge technology to track their customers like that when they’ve been struggling with funding year after year. They’ve been announcing how prices are going nowhere but up. And FWIW I’m in a top five population city in the nation and haven’t seen anything like this in any of my local post offices. Just the usual: long lines, broken self service kiosks and the inevitable customer who complains about how postage is so expensive
this was not anything I have ever seen at a post office no. Mailed thousands of packages WW for thirty plus years. Was a new system for sure and just lettingOGers know to be ready when they see this appear if it does continue. Was a PSA post that’s all not trying to be the smart guy.
If it was strange, elections are strange, you may have something with that guess.
I wish you had screen shots the types of questions. Did it ask you for social credits?
lol or How much carbon is in the box? lol Did the use PayPal? lol
USPS is currently spending $500 million on enhanced tracking, but it’s the handheld scanners used on delivery routes by employees, to track them, and the packages they deliver now for Amazon and other services like FedEx and UPS. There is a ton of union busting shenanigans happening there, as they try to take a strong public union and break it to sell off the USPS as basically a contractor for private delivery companies. USPS carriers are now GPS tracked for compliance and performance metrics, and it’s a hot mess, just go take a look at r/USPS. If there was an equally new and annoying tech being rolled out at the service counters, you can be sure they’d be complaining about it there, and not a peep about anything except the new delivery scanners, DeJoy’s layoffs, and the new slower delivery times and higher rates, look for yourself.
Bingo ,you may be spot on there buddy. No credits too much CO2 no mailing for you. Not sure but I will return to do more research when I get time this week after work.
That’s all I ever get asked also. I don’t have any of these problems mailing anything
The new style ipads are there at the counters now. As mentioned the employee was clueless what it was all about (obviously it’s not just standard mailing info) and I had a line behind me I just clicked ok 3 4, 5 or 6 times added last name of the person etc. Was really different even than a overseas package. Il do more info gathering this week for sure. Good info thanks.
So it does not exist because you have not seen it, got it.
I didn’t say that. I said get asked the same “liquid or batteries” nothing else.
I saw the ipads with my own eyes i don’t need to research the net but thanks
If you’re tired of being questioned at the post office, just tell the clerk “There’s nothing liquid, fragile, perishable or potentially hazardous in this package”…
holy god you saw ipads at USPS in late 2022? “common seriously” maybe lay off the kush for bit plaYa
Has nothing to do with the hazardous contents or lack of thanks. 7th time said.
Fine another thread where you can be a child this one one is for adults thanks.
okee dokee ^^^^^^^
They are open Il go down there right now and repost back with info and a photo if possible
I may join you there.! Sorry for being a bit annoyed , difficult when some (not you) imply something does not exist because they have not seen it
I will say, the teller that helped me on the end, was helping another mailer “mail” several posts and going from the front to the back a couple times holding a wireless tablet. “It was all business tho” when I got up there with my single post mailer. No tablet needed. Just liquid or battery No. Here’s your tracking you know the drill.
@ColeLennon that sounds to me like a supervisor working the counter for a bit:
Ok, once you figure out what was actually in the fine print and what boxes you were clicking, let us know. Ask them for a hard copy if need be. If they refuse or can’t answer, ask for the postmaster.
And, the other-way around. Once you have more information, ping me an I’ll re-open this thread.
